What this mod does
Big NeoForge 1.21.1 modpacks are only partly translated into French. A French player opens Mekanism and reads French, then opens Ars Nouveau and the whole spell book is in English. They hover over a Supplementaries item and get an English tooltip, then see a Butchery carcass named "Drained Cow Carcass". Quest givers talk in English, and the AE2 guide is 125 pages of English.
Illama Inc Core fixes this. It is a client-side mod that adds a complete French translation for the Illama Inc modpack: about 80,000 lines across 230+ mods. It loads automatically, stays on, and sits above the mods' own French files, so the same words are used across the whole pack.
Set your game language to Français (France) and the whole pack plays in French.
What you will see in game
Items, blocks and tooltips in French
Every item, block, fluid, enchantment and effect that was still in English now has a French name. For example:
| Before | With Illama Inc Core |
|---|---|
| Drained Cow Carcass | Carcasse de vache saignée |
| Netherite Skinning Knife | Couteau à dépecer en netherite |
| Sculk Bone Meal | Poudre d'os de sculk |
| Hunting Contract: Skeleton | Contrat de chasse : Squelette |
The tooltips under items (what they do, how to use them, "hold Shift for details") are also in French. Players understand a new item without opening a wiki.
Full mods translated, not just their names
Some mods are translated from start to finish:
- Mekanism: about 1,400 lines (machines, upgrades, configuration screens, tooltips, error messages).
- Ars Nouveau: about 1,000 lines (glyphs, spells, rituals, familiars, the in-game documentation).
- Supplementaries: about 900 lines, and Butchery: all 889 lines (carcasses, cuts of meat, tools, taxidermy, advancements that work as a tutorial).
- The Aether: about 500 lines.
- Plus Sophisticated Backpacks and Storage, Waystones, Jade, Lootr, Handcrafted, Chipped, Farmer's Delight addons, Let's Do Vinery and Brewery, Serene Seasons, Mowzie's Mobs, L_Ender's Cataclysm, Distant Horizons and many more.
The full Applied Energistics 2 guide in French
The AE2 guide (the in-game book opened with the guide key) is fully translated: all 125 pages. That covers ME networks, channels, autocrafting, P2P tunnels, spatial storage and more. AE2 is the hardest mod in most packs to learn, and new players can now follow its guide in their own language.
Quests and NPC dialogue
- FTB Quests: the interface of the quest book.
- Mebahel's RPG Villager Quests: dialogue, quest titles, courier letters and rumors from villagers are in French. Players can follow the story quests instead of skipping them.
Menus and configuration screens
Config screens, the options of performance mods (Sodium, Iris, Distant Horizons, ModernFix…), keybind names and mod menus are in French. Players can tweak their settings without guessing what an English option does.
One vocabulary for the whole pack
Translations come from many people, so the same thing often gets three different French names in three mods. In this mod, translations are reviewed together and placed above each mod's own French file. For example, a "Guardian" is always a « Gardien » and "Raw" meat is always « crue ». Recipe viewers like EMI and JEI also become easier to search in French.
How it works
- Built-in translations: the translations are inside the mod as a built-in resource pack that is always enabled. There's no resource pack to download, no server resource pack prompt, and nothing to switch on in the options.
- Loaded on top: the pack is placed above the mods, so it overrides incomplete or outdated French translations shipped by the mods.
- Client side only: the server does not need it.
- Safe to leave installed: if a mod is missing from your instance, its translations are simply ignored. If you play in English, nothing changes.
Installation
- Already included in the Illama Inc modpack.
- To use it alone: put the jar in your
modsfolder and set the language to Français (France). - Requires NeoForge 21.1.x for Minecraft 1.21.1.
