Description
Hydraulica
Water that behaves like water. In Hydraulica, world water and lava are finite. Every block of liquid is a real amount that is never created or destroyed: it flows downhill, spreads out, levels off and runs dry. Take a bucket from a lake and the whole surface drops a little. Dig a channel and the lake drains into it.
Finite liquids
- Real volume. Every water and lava block holds 1 to 8 units, and the total is always conserved.
- Levelling and pressure. A body of water keeps one level, and connected bodies even out through full channels, so U-bends and siphons work.
- Partial buckets. Scoop up a shallow puddle and you get a partly filled bucket that holds exactly what you took.
- Weather. Rain leaves puddles, and small puddles slowly evaporate.
- Springs. Water resting on a diamond block keeps refilling, for when you want a source that never runs out.
- Your choice of endless. Oceans and rivers can be made endless. The Nether's lava sea is endless by default.
Machines
- Pump: switch it on with a right-click or redstone. It pulls liquid in through its pipes and pushes it out around itself, lowering a lake's whole surface rather than digging a hole.
- Pipe: copper pipes connect on their own and carry liquid to the pump. An open end draws liquid in. A redstone signal closes a pipe, and pipes can sit underwater.
- Grate: a solid floor you can walk on that liquid drains straight through. Redstone closes it.
- Liquid Sensor: gives a redstone signal when liquid touches it.
- Sponge: soaks up to 16 blocks of liquid, keeps it when mined, and wrings it out on right-click.
Underground
- Methane pockets sit deep underground. The gas rises, fills spaces, and explodes if it reaches fire or lava.
- Sponge deposits form in the beds of watery biomes.
Vanilla, made to fit
- Boats float on partial water and ride up onto raised water.
- Placing blocks in water pushes the water aside instead of deleting it.
- Waterlogging in shallow water draws the rest of the block's water from around it.
- Dripstone uses up the water above it to fill cauldrons (you can turn this off).
- Fishing treats still partial water as open water, so treasure can be caught.
- Bubble columns drain along with their pool.
Mod support
⚠️ Create support is new. It still needs more testing and might not work 100% yet. Please report anything odd you run into!
- Create: water wheels turn in still water. Hose pulleys and open pipes don't create or delete water. Create's endless water stays by default, and one setting makes it finite.
- Other mods' pipes: Hydraulica's tanks connect to other mods' fluid pipes and storage through the standard fluid systems on NeoForge, Forge and Fabric.
Settings
- In game: Mods → Hydraulica → Config opens a settings screen (on Fabric this needs Mod Menu). Changes apply as soon as you press Done.
- On servers: operators use
/hydraulica config <setting> <value>. - Performance: physics gets a time budget each tick (10 ms by default), so the server stays smooth even near a busy ocean.
Versions

Coming soon
More features will be coming to the mod soon! Planned:
- Full Create support: Create's pumps, pipes, hose pulleys and machines working fully with finite water.
- Full Applied Energistics 2 (AE2) support.
- Full water physics and Create interactions: water reacting to what moves through it. For example, a create made boat pushes water aside as it moves, carrying it along and making waves behind it.
- More Minecraft versions:

| 26.2 | NeoForge, Fabric |
| 1.19.2 | Forge, Fabric |

NOTE: Hydraulica was made from scratch and has no relation to any other mod like it.
