What's new
**MAJOR UPDATE — Meet the new Modern models!** This release brings a fresh look to all three werewolf forms, with **27 new textures**, updated animations, and improved equipment rendering.
## 1. Modern models and textures
The new **Modern** model set covers all three forms: **Werewolf, Quadruped Wolf, and Beast**. Each form comes with **nine texture variants**, bringing the total to **27**, with animations adapted to the new models.
A huge thank-you to **thewolfulti** for creating and sharing these models and textures! The contributed assets are licensed under **CC BY-SA 4.0**, consistent with the mod's existing art license.
## 2. Switching models and configuring NPCs
**Modern is the default for new players.** If you're using an existing save, open the werewolf menu, go to **Skins**, and use the button in the **top-right corner** to switch between **Modern** and **Classic**. Classic is the original model set and remains fully available.
To choose which models werewolf NPCs use, open `config/howlingwerewolf-common.toml` and set the following option under `[gameplay]`:
```toml
npcModelSet = "modern"
```
Use `"modern"` for wild werewolves, the Alpha, and its summoned pack to use the new models and textures, or `"classic"` to keep their original appearance.
## 3. Animation and equipment rendering
This update adapts animations to the new models and fixes several animation and held-item rendering issues. **Elytra also have dedicated rendering support and now display correctly.**
Some equipment may still appear incorrectly on Modern models. If you prefer the original equipment appearance, switch to **Classic** or **disable equipment rendering** in the config.

Enjoy the new looks, and have fun!
