Hoplite Legendaries

Legendary weapons, staves, bows, summons & relics—each with unique skills and cooldowns.

**Guide to Legendary Weapons and Curiosities**

**I. Mod Introduction**

This is an expansion mod that adds a large number of "legendary" weapons, staves, bows and crossbows, horns, summoned companions, and fantastical blocks to Minecraft. It's not just reskinned weapons: every piece of equipment has its own active skill, cooldown, summon, or special mechanic, and melee weapons are adapted for Better Combat's exclusive combos, attack ranges, and two-handed/dual-wielding movesets.

When you first enter a world, you'll automatically receive a **Codex of Legendary Weapons**. Right-click to open it and look up the detailed stats, mechanics, and crafting recipes for each piece of equipment. If the book isn't in your inventory, another copy will be issued the next time you log in.

All legendary items are gathered in the creative mode "Legendary" tab.

**IV. Gameplay Guide**

**Melee and Throwing Weapons**

**Crimson Chainsword**

- 7.5 attack damage in the main hand, fast attack speed.
- Hits cause the target to bleed: lasts 1.5 seconds, dealing about 3 hearts of damage total. Repeated bleeding hits don't stack, only refresh.
- Bleeding has a 35-second cooldown after triggering; during this time, hits still produce particles and sound but won't apply bleeding again.
- Killing a player or a creature with more than 30 max health grants Strength II for 15 seconds.
- When your health is below 20%, direct melee damage becomes 1.5×; projectiles don't benefit from this bonus.

**Freezing Chakram**

- Can be used as a sword in melee, or right-clicked to throw. Throwing doesn't consume the item, only 1 durability.
- Has 4 charges, automatically restoring 1 every 15 seconds.
- The thrown chakram returns; both the outgoing and return paths can hit different enemies.
- Hits apply freezing and Slowness III for 4 seconds, with ice dust and shatter sounds.

**Poseidon's Trident**

- 7.5 attack damage in the main hand. Holding right-click continuously grants Dolphin's Grace.
- Releasing the use key while sneaking launches you with riptide force, 30-second cooldown.
- After normal charging, releasing throws the trident; the item doesn't disappear, only loses 1 durability.
- Riptide dash hits have a 50% chance to summon lightning; thrown hits only 10%. Both lightnings share a 10-second cooldown.

**Wither Sickles**

- 8 attack damage in the main hand. Only when the blade bar in the center of the screen is fully charged does a hit have a 10% chance to knock back the target and apply Wither II for 5 seconds.
- Not fully charged won't trigger it, and there's no extra double-hit damage.

**Golem Hammer**

- Right-click to quake the ground, launching all creatures within 7 blocks upward; the closer they are, the higher they fly.
- Doesn't affect the user or spectators. 10-second cooldown.

**Magma Club**

- Hits have a 35% chance to ignite the target for 5 seconds.
- Holding right-click continuously grants Fire Resistance; refreshes every 0.5 seconds, and lasts about 2 more seconds after releasing.
- No active cooldown, suitable for fighting in the Nether or near lava.

**War Pick**

- Comes with Sharpness X and Efficiency I, 11.5 attack damage in the main hand.
- Mining blocks also destroys breakable blocks within a 3×3×3 area; destroyed blocks drop normally, 5-second cooldown.
- Critical hits on other players have a 40% chance to knock back and randomly wear down one piece of their armor by 1 durability; this effect has a separate 20-second cooldown.

**Chrono Sword**

- Sneak + right-click records your current position, dimension, and health, opening a 7-second rewind window.
- Within 7 seconds, sneak + right-click again, or wait for the window to end, to return to the recorded point and restore the recorded health.
- If you die within the window, the death is cancelled and the rewind triggers directly.
- Normal rewind cooldown is 45 seconds; death rewind cooldown is 90 seconds. Marking itself doesn't enter cooldown.

**Excalibur**

- Right-click to open a 10-second protection window; the first 3 attacks from other entities are completely negated.
- Environmental damage without an attacker, such as fall damage or the void, isn't protected and doesn't consume a charge.
- 45-second cooldown after activation.

**Cloud Sword**

- Right-click to activate Cloud Power for 10 seconds; within the window, right-click again to toggle it on or off at any time.
- While active, you fall slowly and produce cloud particles; holding Space lets you fly slowly upward. Only you can benefit from the cloud effect.
- Holding this sword in the main hand grants immunity to fall damage and about 10% movement speed.
- 25-second cooldown, which starts only after the 10-second ability window ends.

**Shadow Blade**

- Right-click to gain Invisibility III and Speed III for 10 seconds, 32-second cooldown.
- Being hit by another entity during the buff, or landing a critical hit on a creature, immediately ends the invisibility and speed.

**Midas Sword**

- 7 attack damage in the main hand.
- Killing a player or a creature with more than 80 max health drops 1–3 gold nuggets.
- Also attempts to increase the sword's Sharpness enchantment: below level 2 it always succeeds, at level 2 and above there's a 50% success rate, up to level 10.

**Reaper Scythe**

- Base main-hand damage isn't high, but hits drain 25% of the target's current health (up to 25 per hit), healing you for the amount actually drained.
- Also copies all potion effects on the target to yourself.
- 45-second cooldown.

**Dragon Katana**

- 8 attack damage in the main hand.
- Right-click to teleport up to 12 blocks in the direction you're looking, automatically stopping at a safe spot when encountering blocks.
- Teleporting resets velocity and fall distance, 12-second cooldown.

**Emerald Blade**

- Starts with Sharpness I. Sneak + right-click opens a dedicated single-slot interface that only accepts emeralds, up to 9.
- Each emerald stored increases Sharpness level by 1, up to level 10; removing emeralds lowers the level accordingly.
- Killing any creature or player with this sword drops 1 emerald at the target's location.

**Aiglos**

- Right-click to charge; must last a full 1 second: it automatically throws at 1 second, and releasing after 1 second also throws; releasing before 1 second cancels.
- The thrown spear doesn't consume the item but is temporarily removed from your hand; after hitting a block or creature it explodes, then automatically returns to your inventory (or drops at your feet if the inventory is full).
- Explosion base damage 12, radius 3 blocks; the sum of all enchantment levels on the spear additionally increases damage and explosion radius.
- 17-second cooldown.

**Mjolnir**

- Comes with Knockback I, 9 attack damage in the main hand.
- Melee hits summon lightning at the target's location.
- Right-click to throw; the first hit deals 9 damage and calls down lightning, then it returns to your inventory like a Loyalty III trident. 16-second cooldown.

**Ranged Weapons**

**Phantom Longbow**

- Comes with Power III after crafting; normal shots don't enter skill cooldown.
- When an arrow hits a creature, 10% chance to spawn a vex (lasting 20 seconds), 20% chance to blind the target for 6 seconds.
- Releasing the bowstring while sneaking summons a rideable tamed phantom beside you, lasting 15 seconds; only the summon has a 60-second cooldown.
- While riding a phantom, use WASD and your view to control flight; hold the jump key to charge (about 2 seconds), release to shoot upward; sneaking dismounts, it doesn't descend.
- While your own phantom is in the air, right-click to remount it.

**Ribbit Reel**

- After charging about 1 second, release to fire a frog tongue; hitting a creature pulls the target toward you and applies Slowness II for 5 seconds.
- 22-second cooldown.
- Jumping while standing on a lily pad launches you horizontally in the direction you're looking.

**Eagle Eye Bow**

- Comes with Power III after crafting.
- Charging in midair prevents you from falling, allowing you to hover and aim.
- A fully charged hit on the target's head (the top 25% of the target's body) deals 1.5× damage.
- Holding this bow in the main hand grants an extra 3 blocks of safe fall distance and about 80% higher jump height.

**Ender Bow**

- Left-click to switch between "Arrow Mode" and "Teleport Mode."
- Arrow Mode is normal archery; arrows have about a 20% chance to spawn an endermite at the landing point.
- Teleport Mode doesn't consume arrows; after charging, fires an ender pearl, 35-second cooldown.
- Comes with Power III after crafting.

**Artemis Bow**

- Comes with Power III after crafting.
- About 30% of arrows become homing arrows that automatically turn toward enemies within 24 blocks of your crosshair, but their hit damage is halved.
- Normal arrows hitting creatures have about a 20% chance to summon lightning.
- Neither homing arrows nor lightning use additional cooldowns.

**Sonic Crossbow**

- Hold right-click for about 1.25 seconds, then release to fire a sonic bolt.
- The hit point produces a sculk explosion with a 6-block radius, dealing 12 armor-ignoring damage and knockback to all creatures in range.
- About 28% of blocks within a 4.5-block radius turn into sculk blocks, potentially altering terrain.
- 22-second cooldown.

**Corrupted Crossbow**

- Hold right-click for about 1.25 seconds, then release to fire a corrupted slime ball.
- When the projectile lands or hits, it forms a 5-second poison cloud at that spot:
  - On landing, destroys blocks within a 4-block radius;
  - Then continues destroying blocks within a 2-block radius every second;
  - Every second applies Poison II for 6 seconds to all creatures within an 8-block radius.
- 34-second cooldown. Block destruction has no drops and will also destroy player builds; the poison cloud will also poison you if you stand in range.

**Harpoon Launcher**

- Right-click to fire the harpoon immediately.
- Hitting a block pulls you toward the hit point and clears fall distance.
- Hitting a creature deals 8 damage and pulls the target toward you.
- 22-second cooldown.

**Pufferfish Cannon**

- After charging, release to fire a real pufferfish entity.
- At the moment of firing, it locks onto the creature your crosshair is aimed at; the pufferfish inflates and tracks that target, dealing 8 damage, Poison II for 5 seconds, and knockback on contact.
- With no target aimed at, the pufferfish flies in a normal arc and will also sting enemies it touches.
- The pufferfish lasts up to 1 minute, 25-second cooldown. Main-hand melee damage is about 2.5.

**Beehive Blaster**

- After charging, release, but you must first aim your crosshair at a living creature within 40 blocks, otherwise it won't fire and won't enter cooldown.
- On success, releases 4 tamed bees that only attack the target you aimed at and won't sting you.
- Bees last up to 1 minute. 32-second cooldown.

**Guardian Cannon**

- Hold right-click to charge for 2 seconds, then automatically fire a laser lasting 5 seconds:
  - The laser extends up to 32 blocks along the crosshair;
  - Every 0.25 seconds, deals 4 damage to the nearest creature on the beam;
  - Every 0.15 seconds, destroys one breakable block, with no drops;
  - During the laser, you can sweep it by following your view.
- Being hit by a melee attack while charging interrupts it; releasing early won't fire. Laser cooldown is 30 seconds.
- While holding right-click, any damage you take is 100% reflected to the attacker; after the laser fires automatically, the use state ends and the reflection ends with it.
- Right-clicking in water immediately summons two tamed guardians and pushes you backward. They only attack the target aimed at when fired, with a separate 25-second cooldown. Holding right-click while swimming also grants Dolphin's Grace.

**Magma Cannon**

- Left-click to switch between "Normal Mode" and "Super Magma Mode"; the two modes have independent magazines.
- Hold right-click and charge for a full 2 seconds to fire automatically; releasing early won't fire; each shot also has a 2-second cooldown.
- Normal Mode has 4 shots, Super Mode has only 1. When a magazine is empty, it fully reloads after 24 seconds; it won't auto-reload when half full.
- Normal Mode: the magma cube explodes on hitting a creature or after bouncing 3 times, radius 3 blocks, about 8 damage, and ignites the ground without destroying terrain.
- Super Mode: the magma cube is larger, dealing 10 damage on a direct hit; each block it hits corrupts terrain within a 2.2-block radius; on hitting a creature or after bouncing 5 times, it produces a large explosion with a 5-block radius, about 16 damage, and continues corrupting terrain.

**Staves and Special Items**

**Hypnosis Staff**

- Right-click to fire a beam up to 24 blocks, hitting the first creature (excluding players and spectators).
- If the target isn't already controlled by you, it's truly tamed to you; you can control up to 10 at once, and reaching the limit shows a message.
- Controlled creatures protect you, fight back against enemies attacking you, and actively attack monsters, without attacking you or your other controlled creatures.
- Hitting an already controlled creature again heals it for 10 hearts and teleports it to you after 2 seconds.
- When the beam hits no creature, it recalls the nearest controlled creature within 64 blocks.
- 5-second cooldown per cast.

**Evoker Wand**

- Left-click summons 3 rows of 4 fangs each in the direction you're facing, erupting row by row, without hurting yourself; 12-second cooldown.
- Right-click activates an 8-second reflection aura: enemy projectiles flying toward you within 5 blocks are reflected back at the shooter; 25-second cooldown.
- The two abilities have independent cooldowns. Main-hand attack damage is 5.

**Void Staff**

- Left-click to switch between "Teleport Mode" and "Shulker Mode."
- Teleport Mode: the first right-click records a position, the second right-click creates a pair of interconnected portals at another position. Portals last 45 seconds, and about 90 seconds must pass after the first creation before creating again.
- Portals are indestructible; entities walking into them are sent to the other portal.
- Shulker Mode: right-click fires a lightly homing shulker bullet that on hit produces an explosion with a 3.5-block radius, about 8 damage, applies Levitation, and splits into 4 smaller bullets; smaller bullets have a 2.5-block radius and about 5 damage. 30-second cooldown.
- Main-hand attack damage is 5.

**Lich Staff**

- Right-click fires a frost bolt that on hit produces an explosion with a 4-block radius, 9 damage, freezes all enemies in range (up to about 15 seconds), and applies Slowness.
- The staff has 4 charges, each shot consuming 1 durability; when empty, it cools down for 35 seconds, then refills all 4 at once.
- While held in the main hand, you're immune to freeze damage and generate frost ice on water surfaces under your feet like Frost Walker.

**Shrink Ray**

- Left-click: shrink yourself to about 1 block tall for 12 seconds, during which movement speed becomes 1.4×.
- Right-click: fire a beam up to 24 blocks that enlarges the hit creature to 2× size for 12 seconds, during which movement speed becomes 0.6×.
- The two effects can't exist at the same time and share a 50-second cooldown. Missing a target also enters cooldown.

**Sculkweaver's Lantern**

- Right-click to throw; on first hitting a block or creature, expands a sculk prison dome at the landing point:
  - Horizontal radius about 13 blocks, height about 11 blocks;
  - 3 tamed wardens spawn inside, attacking nearby players and monsters;
  - The dome lasts 18 seconds, then restores the original blocks layer by layer starting from the top.
- 150-second cooldown.
- The dome temporarily replaces building blocks it passes through; although they're restored, blocks newly placed during that time may also be overwritten.

**Death Note**

- 5 uses total; the item disappears when used up (not destroyed in creative mode).
- Right-click opens a naming interface:
  - Write the name of an online player at any distance, or a creature with a custom name within 100 blocks, to steal one of their hearts (permanently reducing max health by 2, with a minimum of 2 remaining) and restore 2 health to yourself.
  - 60-second cooldown.
- Sneak + right-click opens mark mode:
  - The target must be an online player, in the same dimension, within 100 blocks;
  - The target receives an unclosable guessing interface listing candidates, and a 3-minute countdown begins;
  - Guessing correctly is safe; guessing wrong or timing out eliminates (kills) them directly.
  - 5-minute cooldown.
- Writing your own name:
  - Writing yourself in steal-heart mode permanently increases your max health by 2 and restores 2 health;
  - Writing yourself in mark mode applies the same death guessing game to yourself.

**Soul Gauntlet**

- Right-click in the main hand opens a dedicated single-slot interface that only accepts Ancient Debris; the stored amount is permanently retained.
- Sneak + right-click in the offhand summons "2 + stored Ancient Debris count" soul clones, with a maximum of 10 at once.
- Clones copy your four armor pieces, the highest-attack-damage weapon in your inventory, and your offhand item, and have your max health; they protect you, fight back against enemies, attack monsters, disappear after 15 seconds, and drop nothing when killed.
- Cooldown is 45 seconds + 5 seconds per stored Ancient Debris. Holding the gauntlet in the offhand grants an extra 1 armor.

**Horn of Winter**

- Right-click summons a tamed ice horse and automatically mounts it; only you can ride it.
- While mounted, shooting a bow turns arrows into weightless, straight-flying ice shards: 10 damage, applying full freeze and Slowness on hit.
- While mounted and holding the horn, right-click releases a blizzard (30-second cooldown):
  - Turns the ground surface in a 9×5 area in front of the horse into powder snow, melting after about 10 seconds;
  - Deals 6 damage, freeze, and Slowness IV for 10 seconds to enemies in a cone in front.
- When you dismount or the ice horse dies, the ice horse disappears and the horn enters a 30–300 second cooldown (300 seconds on death).

**Reinforced Elytra**

- Equipped in the chestplate slot, glides like a normal elytra while providing 6 armor.
- Gliding accumulates energy, up to about 10 seconds; on landing, if you just finished gliding, deals 5–20 explosion damage and knockback to nearby other players (won't hurt yourself).
- While gliding, holding the sneak key performs rocket propulsion in the direction you're looking, 45-second cooldown.

**Villager Wand**

- Right-click prioritizes finding a non-player creature within 20 blocks in your line of sight with less than 15 max health: turns it into 1–3 emeralds, without entering cooldown.
- When no qualifying creature is found, summons a blue beam at the crosshair position and triggers a large explosion with a 6-block radius at the bottom, 60-second cooldown.
- The explosion destroys terrain and may hurt yourself. Left-click also performs the same conversion.
- Conversion doesn't distinguish friend from foe: nearby low-health pets, villagers, or animals may also be turned into emeralds, so check your target before using it.

**Codex of Legendary Weapons**

- Right-click to open the manual, which lists all equipment by category, including stats, mechanics, tips, and crafting pages.
- Automatically obtained on first entering a world; if it's not in your inventory on login, the system will issue another copy.

**Summons and Companions**

**Ravager Horn**

- Right-click summons a tamed ravager belonging to you, which can be ridden and only you can mount.
- Only one can exist at a time, lasting up to 5 minutes, after which it naturally disappears without triggering a death cooldown.
- Using the horn again, if the ravager is still alive, recalls it to your side after 2 seconds.
- After the ravager dies, the horn enters a 5-minute cooldown.

**Gerald the Sniffer**

- Right-click consumes the item to summon the sniffer Gerald.
- He sniffs in place for about 8 seconds, then digs for about 8.5 seconds, digging up a random legendary item as a drop.
- After digging, he's happy for a moment, then disappears.

**Jim the Sorcerer**

- Right-click consumes the item to summon the sorcerer Jim.
- Hold any enchanted item and right-click Jim; he randomly raises one of its enchantments by 1 level, without consuming the item.
- Upgrades up to 4 times; after the 4th time, he plays a casting animation and leaves.
- If the item has no enchantments, no effect occurs.

**Kim the Transmuter**

- Right-click consumes the item to summon the transmuter Kim, who remains stationary.
- Hold an item and right-click Kim to upgrade it to the next material tier:
  - Wood → Stone → Iron → Diamond → Netherite;
  - Leather → Chainmail → Iron;
  - Gold → Diamond.
- Quantity, durability loss, and item data are all retained; items that can't be upgraded only show a message.
- Up to 3 transmutations, after which she plays a disappearance animation and leaves.

**Gruntilda**

- Right-click consumes the item to summon the alchemist witch Gruntilda, who remains stationary.
- Hold a water bottle and right-click her to consume the bottle and give you a random positive potion; if a level II version exists, the level II is given directly.
- Brews up to 4 bottles, after which she leaves. In creative mode, water bottles aren't consumed.

**Blocks**

**Fountain of Fate**

- Once placed, every 5 seconds applies Regeneration III (about 3 seconds) to players within an 8-block radius and randomly adds a buff for 10 seconds.
- Possible buffs include: Speed, Strength, Jump Boost, Haste, Resistance, Fire Resistance, Water Breathing, Night Vision, Absorption, Health Boost.
- The block itself occupies only 1 block, but visually expands into a fountain about 3×3×3 in size. Light level 10.

**V. Notes**

- Keep terrain-destroying equipment away from your base: the Corrupted Crossbow's poison cloud, the Sonic Crossbow's sculk conversion, the Super Magma Cannon's corruption, the War Pick's 3×3×3 mining, the Sculkweaver's Lantern's dome replacement, and the Villager Wand's large explosion can all destroy or overwrite blocks. Blocks destroyed by the Corrupted Crossbow, Guardian Cannon laser, and War Pick have no drops.
- Watch out for friendly fire and accidental harm: the Guardian Cannon's reflection, Mjolnir's and Poseidon's Trident's lightning, the Death Note's elimination, and the Shrink Ray's enlargement-slowing of teammates can all affect other players. Communicate with your team before playing together.
- Summons have quantity or time limits: only one ravager at a time and up to 5 minutes; 4 bees for about 1 minute; 2 guardians; up to 10 soul clones for 15 seconds; 3 sculk wardens for 18 seconds; phantoms for 15 seconds; the ice horse disappears when you dismount or it dies.
- Some items are consumables or have limited uses: Gerald, Jim, Kim, and Gruntilda's summon items disappear after use; the Death Note has only 5 uses; removing emeralds from the Emerald Blade lowers its Sharpness level.
- Cooldowns are generally long: most powerful skills are between 10–150 seconds. To test quickly, use creative mode; in normal survival, pay attention to the cooldown bar above your inventory.
- Melee weapons are adapted for Better Combat: when Better Combat is installed, these weapons have independent combos, attack ranges, two-handed stances, and mounted/dual-wield movesets; without it, they still work as normal weapons.
- Watch out for accidental left-clicks: the Ender Bow, Void Staff, Magma Cannon, Shrink Ray, Evoker Wand, and Villager Wand all use left-click to switch modes or trigger skills; normal attacks and block mining also count as left-clicks, so be careful with these items.
- The Codex of Legendary Weapons is the best quick-reference tool: when you forget an item's stats, cooldown, or recipe, right-click the book and flip through it first.
