Hollow Horror (Early Beta)
Something is watching from the treeline.
You hear footsteps outside your house. A familiar voice calls from the darkness. Something stands perfectly still just beyond the light of your torches.
You tell yourself it's nothing.
You should have stayed inside.
Hollow Horror introduces 16 fully animated horror creatures to Minecraft, each with custom models, original sounds, and unique AI behaviours. These aren't ordinary mobs that mindlessly chase you down. They watch from a distance, stalk you through the darkness, imitate familiar sounds, set traps, and learn from your actions.
Featuring terrifying encounters and jumpscares, Hollow Horror is designed to make you question whether you're ever truly safe.
Some will hunt you.
Some will wait for you.
And some will make you wish you had never found them.
The Creatures
Every creature has its own behaviour. Learning what you're dealing with might be the only thing keeping you alive.
The Watcher — A motionless silhouette at the treeline. It watches you from a distance, drawing closer whenever you look away. Never assume it's still where you left it.
The Crawling One — A spider-limbed nightmare that crawls along walls, stalks through darkness, and flees from light. Check your ceilings.
The Hollow — It stands perfectly still, like a statue in the woods. As long as you follow its rules, nothing happens. Break them, and watch its head turn.
The Mimic — A desperate voice cries for help somewhere in the darkness. It sounds human. It sounds scared. Whatever you do, think twice before following it.
And more horrors await discovery...
Items & Gear
Surviving the horrors can reward you with materials used to craft 30 unique items, including weapons, tools, armor, and specialised equipment.
-
Watcher's Lens — Reveals nearby horrors through walls. Knowledge is survival.
-
Screamer Horn — Releases a powerful blast that knocks enemies away.
-
Wraith Lantern — Freezes enemies in place, giving you a chance to escape.
and more, you will need to see for yourself.
These are only some of the items available. Experiment with the materials you collect and discover how they can help you survive.
Tip: Hover over items in-game to see what they do.
Jumpscares & Horror
Content Warning: Hollow Horror contains jumpscares, sudden loud sounds, screen shake, and unsettling horror encounters.
Not every horror will attack immediately. Some watch you from a distance. Others wait for the perfect moment to strike. You might hear something before you see it, mistake a monster for an ordinary animal, or discover that something has been following you for much longer than you realised.
Each jumpscare lasts less than a second, combining a sudden reveal of a creature's face with a stinger sound and screen shake. The face images are rendered directly from the creatures' actual in-game models.
Stay alert. Trust nothing. And don't assume you're safe just because you can't see anything.
Customise Your Experience
Prefer a less intense experience? Hollow Horror lets you customise its jumpscare effects to suit your preferences.
Players can adjust these options in the client configuration:
-
Master Toggle — Turn jumpscare effects on or off.
-
Intensity — Adjust jumpscare intensity from 0 to 1.
-
Screen Shake — Enable or disable screen shake independently.
-
Individual Scares — Toggle each jumpscare separately.
These settings give you more control over your experience, whether you want the full horror treatment or prefer to reduce sudden visual effects. They're especially useful for streamers and players sensitive to jumpscares.
Server-Side Settings
Server owners can adjust or disable random creature glimpses to customise the horror experience for their players.
