HiveSight
Beekeeping you can read at a glance.
Look at a nest, read it
Point at any bee nest or beehive and a small panel appears:
Bee Nest
Bees: 5
Bees inside: 2/3
Honey: 3/5
- Bees is the whole colony -- every bee that calls this nest home, including the ones out foraging. A healthy nest often shows more here than can fit inside at once, which is the point.
- Bees inside is who is home right now, out of the three a nest holds.
- Honey is the fill level, so you know when it is worth harvesting.
Look at the hive or nest, and it appears. Look away and it disappears.
Hiveless Bees
HiveSight tints hiveless bees, so a glance across a field tells you how many hives to place.
The tint is an overlay rather than a replacement texture, so resource packs still work.
Requirements
- Minecraft Java Edition 26.1.2
- Fabric Loader 0.19.3 or newer
- Fabric API
Servers
For servers, both sides are required. Minecraft doesn't send a hive's contents or a bee's home to clients. HiveSight's server half looks these up and sends just the nest you are actually looking at.
Performance
The client asks about a nest only when you look at a new one, then refreshes about once a second while you keep looking. Honey level is read from data the client already has, so it appears with no round trip at all. Colony membership is worked out by a single sweep of nearby bees once a second, shared between both features.
Notes
- The colony count settles over about three seconds, so a bee that has just come out of a nest takes a moment to be counted.
- Bees foraging far from the nest can be missed if you are a long way from them.
- The panel's strings are English only.
