What's new

Added

  • Field Ward: a magic stone post with a hextech eye. Within 16 blocks monsters no longer spawn by themselves and no farmland is trampled - a quiet base leaves the mob cap to your farms. Spawners and animals are not affected.
  • Miasma Vent: a rusted chemtech grate that chokes the hostile creatures standing over it in sickly fumes. Cheap - it burns the unknown essence the separator leaves behind - but slow, and no player struck them, so there is no experience or rare loot. Researched at the Lab Bench, made at the Hex Workbench.
  • Experience Condenser: a glass column in a brass frame. No experience orb appears around it - it drinks them all and holds the experience as a glowing liquid, up to about level 50; a Greedy Funnel nearby pours in too. Take a level with an empty hand (sneak for everything) or fill glass bottles with Bottles o' Enchanting; a comparator reads it.
  • Rune Shackles: a nullstone block with a ring of runes on top, laid into a mob farm floor - monsters spawn on it like on any block. Up to four creatures standing on it hang still in its glyph - no wandering, no pathfinding, no pushing - so a crowded mob farm hardly costs the server anything, and they can still be struck. Feeds on shadow essence; four blocks from one altar ritual.
  • Hex Arc Spire: a hexsteel spike wound with brass coils that strikes the hostile creatures around it with arcs of charge. The kills count as a player's, so they drop experience and rare loot; named creatures and bosses are spared. Next to a Greedy Funnel it holds back while the funnel is full. Feeds on spark essence and takes runes (Shift, Motor, Chain Lightning, Flash, Dam, Lens).
  • Greedy Funnel: a nullstone bowl set on a chest. Whatever dies around it never reaches the ground: the drops go straight into the chest and the experience into its crystal, so mob farms stop piling up items and orbs. It feeds on decay essence (bones are full of it) and takes runes (Shift, Radiance, Spoils, Engraving, Dam, Lens).
  • The Researcher's Guide is split into three parts of the game: the first steps in the workshop, the middle around the Hextech Altar and the end around the Hexcore. Done steps wear the metal of their part (brass, blued steel, white gold), and each part has its own heart on the map: the Research Table, the altar and the Hexcore with its twisting rune tiles. Many devices still to come were added, moved to where they belong or dropped.
  • Rune Chalk: draws runes on the floor. Runes around a Hextech Altar make its rituals quicker and glow while it works.
  • Nullstone (+ polished, bricks): made in the crucible from calcite. Near a working Hexcore it drinks its anger and fills up, its violet veins glowing brighter, then slowly lets it out again.
  • Crystal Battery: a dark cube in a brass cage that stores hextech charge from crystals and feeds the Hex Workbenches around it; its core glows when charged and a comparator reads it. Researched at the table, made at the altar. Takes runes (Cache, Chain Lightning, Dam, Lens).
  • Hexsteel tools and armour: a sword, pickaxe, axe, shovel, hoe and a full set of armour as strong as diamond, forged on a crafting table from hexsteel ingots once hexsteel is researched.
  • Arcane Cloth: wool thrown into a crucible whose water holds magic and beast essence comes out as heavy, warm cloth.
  • Researcher's clothes: the first clothes of the mod - a hood, a robe, trousers and boots, each a real 3D model instead of flat armour, and the items in the inventory are the same models. The hood is deep and pointed, with a brass badge and a hextech crystal over the brow. The robe has a high collar that frames the head, a short linen cape with shoulder drapes and a hextech clasp, a deep blue coat of arcane cloth with brass hems, a belt with a buckle, a pouch, a rolled scroll and a vial of essence, and coat tails that swing with every step. The trousers are thick wool with linen wraps, a thigh pouch and a vial; the boots are leather with a brass buckle and a turned-down cuff. A little sturdier than leather; the robe takes the edge off fire, lightning and blasts. Researched at the Research Table, sewn on the Hex Workbench.
  • Each piece takes one rune at the Hextech Altar, chosen from its own four. Hood: Banishing (night vision in the dark), Radiance (more experience), Breath (longer breath under water), Purification (poison and weakness wash off). Robe: Mending (all the clothes mend themselves), Healing (a blow may start regeneration), Fireproofing (fire on the robe brings fire resistance), Mirror (a blow may glance back at the attacker). Trousers: Haste (faster), Windmill (higher jumps), Gravity (less knockback), Shift (step up whole blocks). Boots: Lift (softer landings), Pump (easier walking in water), Pollen (crops and saplings by your path shoot up), Quenching (hot floors burn less).

Changed

  • The Hextech Altar needs Rune Chalk, and the Hexcore ritual takes a Crystal Battery and Regenerative Slime instead of two brass blocks.
  • The Void (a first look, no logic yet): breaches in the world through which the Void shows. A breach is made of square cells with a burning magenta outline and a glow around it - teeth along the edge, loose pieces hanging beside it, darker rectangles and black dead cells inside, smouldering seams between them. Look into one and you see a throat, not a flat picture: dark coils wind down it, glassy lilac ribbons glow deeper in, and at the bottom a magenta heart beats behind a net of black roots - from whichever side you look. Five shapes - a gate, an eye with a blinding heart, a narrow slit, a scattered cluster and a breach in the ground. It spreads open from its heart and shrinks back into it, breathes out dark smoke and draws motes of the world in. Near it the fog closes in and turns violet, and the edges of your sight darken in the rhythm of its heartbeat. Deep, layered sounds for the opening, the breath and the closing.
  • Void Shard (creative only for now): right click opens the Void where you look; sneak + right click closes the one you look at, or picks the shape (any, gate, eye, slit, scatter, breach).
