Description

Hero Quests: Zero to Hero [By Töny]

**A story-driven fantasy RPG adventure built for Minecraft servers. Rise from an unknown traveler to a celebrated hero, meet memorable characters, unlock new realms, master powerful artifacts, choose your path at the Arcane Academy, and face dangerous group encounters.**

Hero Quests transforms a Minecraft world into a persistent role-playing adventure without replacing the familiar survival experience. Every player follows their own progression, completes personal objectives, earns ranks and unlocks new chapters at their own pace. The adventure is designed for friends playing together, while rewards and quest progress remain fair and personal.

## From Zero to Hero

Your journey begins as **The Nameless**. Six quest givers — Sarah, Gregor, Lyra, Sven, Evalynn and Reo — guide you through a long introductory campaign with **75 sequential quests and 15 ranks**.

Quests include gathering, crafting, exploration, combat, delivery objectives, special encounters and return visits to familiar characters. Each rank contains its own progression and ends with a promotion before the next chapter begins. Your current rank can appear before your player name, while an earned title may be displayed after it.

Progress is stored separately for every player and survives death, logout and server restarts. Daily backups protect the adventure data.

## A Living Quest Realm

Enter the protected Quest Realm through a custom quartz portal with a continuous turquoise surface, ambient particles and portal sounds. The realm contains the hand-built Quest Village, named characters, guards, villagers and story locations.

The village is more than decoration: it is the central hub of the campaign. NPCs react to your progress, guards become friendlier as your reputation rises, and later chapters send you beyond the village into completely different regions.

The Quest Realm and the Academy Realm are protected from normal block breaking, block placement, explosions and hostile monster spawning. This keeps important story locations safe on public or shared servers.

## Three Realms, Three Stories

The main campaign expands into two additional regions, each with its own atmosphere, portal and storyline:

- **The Orc Territory** — a scarred, muddy land of burned forests, rough fortifications and red fire. Confront Gorlog the Great and prove that the Quest Village is too powerful to threaten.
- **The Elven Realm** — a mystical forest of giant trees, living ruins and green nature magic. Earn the trust of Queen Alina and Carl as humans and elves consider an uneasy alliance.
- **The Quest Village** — the heart of the original Zero-to-Hero journey and the place where your reputation first takes shape.

The quartz, blackstone and moss portals use distinct colors, sounds and particles so every destination feels like a new chapter.

## Karl and the Arcane Academy

After the original journey, **Karl the Mage** opens a new quest line and begins your magical training. His story leads to his former master, the Rector of a vast Arcane Academy.

At the Academy, every player chooses one permanent path:

- **Mage** — spells, arcane control and staff mastery
- **Warrior** — direct combat, weapon discipline and battlefield strength
- **Smith** — powerful equipment, artifact improvement and forge mastery
- **Demon Pact** — dangerous power, sacrifices and cursed magic

There are no hybrid classes. Your choice defines the next part of your character's story, the mentor who trains you and the challenges you receive. The Academy includes four dedicated mentors, student NPCs and **60 class quests** in addition to Karl's magical quest line.

Travel between the Quest Village and the Academy with **Thomas the Ferryman**. The crossing unlocks through the story and uses particles, sound and a staged loading sequence to feel like travel in an MMORPG.

## A Functional Academy

The Academy is not only a quest backdrop. Its registered areas provide real gameplay functions:

- **Library** — study once per day for experience
- **Student Room** — claim a personal room and recover health, hunger and arcane energy
- **Academy Post** — contribute materials to server-wide projects and collect personal rewards
- **Duel Arena** — fight safe player duels without losing your life or items

A pathfinder can lead players toward the NPC required by their active quest, including routes through the large Academy interior.

## Artifacts, Spells and Arcane Energy

Powerful artifacts are earned through the story rather than handed out at the beginning. Each one has a distinct combat identity, soundscape and visual effect. Examples include an earth-shattering hammer, an elven heart relic with living thorn magic, and an archmage staff with multiple selectable spells.

Fixed cooldown timers are replaced by an **Arcane Energy Bank**. Every ability consumes a different amount of energy, while the bank slowly recharges. This allows quick tactical decisions without letting the strongest attacks be used endlessly.

The **Arcane Smith** can improve personal artifacts through multiple stages. Upgrades may increase damage, extend magical effects, improve control or unlock stronger behavior. Optional cursed upgrades offer greater power with meaningful risk.

Artifact powers also work in player-versus-player combat where appropriate, making duels and class encounters more exciting.

## Encounters and Group Content

Hero Quests includes content for solo players and groups:

- Elite enemies with unique mechanics
- Multi-phase boss encounters
- Defensive missions with protected objectives
- Revival mechanics for fallen allies
- Personal rewards for every eligible group member
- Admin-triggered community projects and server events
- A traveling merchant with regular and cursed offers

The Academy dungeon culminates in **Ignevar**, a large animated dragon boss with movement, glowing volcanic effects, telegraphed attacks and multiple combat phases. The event uses a confirmation step, a five-minute preparation countdown, a one-minute revival window and a lockout after completion or failure.

## Player-Friendly Quest Interface

The mod provides chapter-themed quest displays, dialogue panels, progress information and reward previews. Main, Karl, Academy, Orc and Elf chapters use their own visual identity so entering a new story arc feels meaningful.

Players can control how much information is shown. The quest display can remain visible, appear only when progress changes, or be disabled. Java players can use the enhanced RPG presentation, while fallback menus preserve the core interaction for players without advanced client visuals.

## Multiplayer and Geyser Support

Hero Quests is built around a **server-authoritative progression system**. Java and Geyser/Bedrock players can share the same world, quests, ranks and rewards.

Advanced Java-only presentation — such as custom models, high-detail overlays and certain animation effects — may use a compatible fallback for Bedrock players. These visual differences do not remove the main quest progression from the player. The server owner remains responsible for installing and configuring a compatible Geyser setup.

## Administration and World Galleries

Operators receive a structured administration menu with separate areas for:

- NPCs grouped by Quest Village, Academy, Orc and Elf content
- Portals and travel points
- Story progression and player data
- Event simulation
- Debugging and display tests

Dedicated placement tools make it possible to position quest givers, guards, villagers, elves, orcs, students, merchants and special characters precisely. World-gallery tools can capture and integrate large story locations, including the Quest Village and dungeon arenas, while registered Academy locations connect functions to one large building.

## Requirements

- **Minecraft Java Edition 26.2**
- **Fabric Loader 0.19.3 or newer**
- **Fabric API 0.154.2+26.2**
- **Java 25**
- **GeckoLib** for enhanced animated models such as Ignevar
- **Player Animation Library** for the full Java player-animation experience

For multiplayer installation, place the Hero Quests JAR and required dependencies in the Fabric server's `mods` folder. Do not place them in `plugins`.

## Important Compatibility Note

The exact availability of high-detail models, custom interfaces and player animations depends on the client platform and installed visual dependencies. Server-side quest logic, progression and rewards remain authoritative. Always use matching versions of Minecraft, Fabric Loader, Fabric API and all required libraries.
