Hephaestus Compat is a dedicated compatibility layer created for the Hephaestus Forge modpack and server ecosystem.
Its main purpose is to bridge systems that were not originally designed to work together, providing custom integrations, compatibility fixes and behavioral adjustments between mods used throughout the pack.
Instead of modifying the original mod files directly, Hephaestus Compat implements the necessary compatibility logic in a separate layer, allowing upstream mods to remain intact while still supporting the custom mechanics required by Hephaestus Forge.
The mod is especially focused on complex automation and progression systems where interactions between different mods require additional handling.
Current integrations include custom compatibility for systems such as Masterful Machinery, Hostile Neural Networks / Extra Hostile Neural Networks, custom Hephaestus markers and machine-processing logic.
Among its features are support for dynamic prediction handling, intelligent distribution of large prediction quantities, output-capacity simulation to prevent item loss, priority-based insertion logic and persistence fixes required by custom machine workflows.
Main goals:
Provide compatibility between otherwise independent mods.
Keep original mod JARs untouched whenever possible.
Prevent item loss and invalid automation behavior.
Extend machine and processing systems with custom logic.
Centralize Hephaestus-specific compatibility fixes.
Make future modpack updates easier to maintain and debug.
Hephaestus Compat is developed specifically around the needs of the Hephaestus Forge ecosystem and evolves alongside its modpack, machines and progression systems.
