Heavy Inventories adds a new weight system to Minecraft, allowing players to manage their inventory more effectively and adapt to different gameplay styles. Inspired by the weight system in TESV: Skyrim, Heavy Inventories introduces a unique gameplay mechanic that encourages players to carefully manage their inventory, making it a valuable tool for survival and exploration, without only worrying about the contents of your inventory, but also considering the weight of your items and blocks.
Weight also integrates with Minecraft's existing movement, hunger, stamina, and fall damage mechanics. This means that players must carefully manage their inventory to avoid being slowed down or even unable to move, or using more energy than normal and going hungry!
Enchantments and potions
Strength potions increase your carrying capacity while the effect is active. There are also three armor enchantments:
- Bracing increases carrying capacity when applied to a chestplate.
- Reinforced increases carrying capacity when applied to leggings.
- Surefooted lets you walk at a reduced speed when overloaded and improves movement near your limit. It applies to boots.
Admins and Modpack Makers
Carrying capacity and weight effects can be changed through the in-game settings. Walking can slow gradually as you carry more, or only start slowing at 90% capacity. On servers, gameplay settings are controlled by operators.
The mod includes default material weights and uses recipes to calculate other item weights. Custom weights are supported through datapacks. See the user guide for setup and configuration.
