Description
Hearthwood
Timber, fire and candlelight for rustic builds.
Hearthwood adds timber framing blocks for all 12 wood types and wrought iron and gold lights to go with them. The blocks fit together by themselves: posts meet lintels, braces reach into the beams they hold, palisades join their neighbours like fences. Every block uses vanilla textures, so the mod looks at home in any world and follows your resource pack.
Timber blocks
Available for oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak, mangrove, cherry, pale oak, poplar, crimson and warped wood.
- Beams: squared 10×10 timbers along any axis. Where an end meets the side of another beam, it joins it, so posts, lintels and rails form one frame.
- Palisades: rows of sharpened stakes. They connect like fences to each other, to fences, walls, gates, beams and solid blocks. The top block of a column gets pointed tips; the collision box is 1.5 blocks high.
- Braces: a straight 45° knee brace between a wall or post and the ceiling or lintel above. Its ends reach into the beams around it.
- Timber frames: lime plaster in a timber frame, with 7 patterns: plain, cross, two diagonals, post, rail and grid. Right-click with an axe for the next pattern, sneak to go back.
- Log piles: split logs stacked three by three, ends facing you. Good for sheds, porches and smithies.
Lights
- Brazier and Soul Brazier: wrought iron fire bowls on legs, light level 15 and 10. Light them with flint and steel or a fire charge, put them out with a shovel or water. Standing in a lit brazier burns, like a campfire.
- Chandeliers (iron and gold): a ring of four candles that hangs under any solid block or beam, light level 15.
- Wall Sconces (iron and gold): a single candle on a wall or on the side of a beam, light level 12.
- Candelabras (iron and gold): three candles on a stand, for tables, fence posts and barrels, light level 14.
Candle lights are lit with flint and steel, a fire charge or a burning arrow, and put out with an empty hand. They can be waterlogged, which puts them out.
Details
- All 68 blocks have crafting recipes that unlock in the recipe book as you gather the materials. They are collected in their own creative tab.
- Overworld wood blocks can catch fire, and beams, palisades, braces and log piles work as furnace fuel. Crimson and warped ones are fireproof, like their vanilla stems.
- Axe is the right tool for timber, pickaxe for the lights.
