HBM Nuclear Tech Neo
A community port of HBM's Nuclear Tech Mod to NeoForge 1.21.1.
HBM's Nuclear Tech Mod is one of the most ambitious tech mods ever made for Minecraft — nuclear fission and fusion, orbital weapons, radiation, oil processing, and a genuinely enormous industrial tech tree. This project brings that content back to modern Minecraft, rebuilt on NeoForge 1.21.1.
Features
Nuclear engineering
- Fission reactors, fusion chambers, tokamaks, and reactor cores
- Full fuel cycle: uranium and plutonium pellets, isotope separation, centrifuges, decay chambers, spent fuel pools, and waste storage
- Radiation system with fallout zones, geiger counters, protective gear, and anti-rad medication
Weapons and ordnance
- 85 firearms: pistols, rifles, SMGs, machine guns, shotguns, snipers, railguns, laser and plasma weapons
- Missiles, ICBMs, tactical nukes, and an orbital kinetic strike system
- Real detonation mechanics — mushroom clouds, blast craters, and lingering irradiated terrain
Industry
- 120 machines covering ore processing, chemistry, oil refining, precision manufacturing, and space technology
- Machines accept power, process inputs on a configurable recipe table, and can be started or stopped by redstone or by hand
- Energy cables, fluid pipes, and item logistics
Content scale
- 1311 items, 288 blocks, 809 recipes, 2173 textures, 150 sound effects
- Fully localised item and block names
Requirements
| Minecraft | 1.21.1 |
| Loader | NeoForge 21.1.193 or newer |
| Side | Client and server |
| Java | 21 |
Mekanism is optional. When present, HBM machines and cables register as Mekanism-compatible, so Mekanism pipes, cables, and logistical transporters can interface with them directly.
Installation
- Install NeoForge 21.1.193 or newer for Minecraft 1.21.1
- Drop the
.jarinto yourmodsfolder - Launch the game
For servers, install the same jar on the server and all clients.
Configuration
Machine conversion recipes are fully configurable without recompiling. On first launch, a default recipe table ships inside the jar. To override it, create:
config/hbm/machine_recipes.json
{
"default": { "input": "minecraft:iron_ingot", "output": "hbm:steel_ingot", "energy": 10 },
"machines": [
{
"keys": ["isotope_separator", "centrifugal_cascade"],
"input": "hbm:uranium_pellet",
"output": "hbm:isotope_u235",
"energy": 15
}
]
}
Each craft cycle consumes one input item, produces one output item, and draws the listed amount of energy. If the file is missing or malformed, the built-in table is used instead, so machines always have working recipes.
Credits and licence
- Original mod: HBM's Nuclear Tech Mod by HbMinecraft and contributors — all design, art direction, and content originate there. This port exists because of their work.
- This port: NeoForge 1.21.1 compatibility layer and rebuild.
Please respect the original project's licensing terms.
Known limitations
This is a work in progress port, and a few areas are still incomplete:
- Some entities are not yet visible on the client (they function correctly on the server, but lack dedicated renderers).
- A number of decorative and legacy blocks are not yet wired to their own block entities.
- Development focuses on NeoForge 1.21.1; no other versions are planned right now.
Bug reports and feedback are very welcome — please include your NeoForge version and a latest.log if you are reporting a crash.
