HBM NTM Reforged 1.0.4
Version 1.0.4 is one of the largest Reforged updates so far. It adds a complete backpack progression, the modern Chicago Pile, a much larger satellite system, expanded Redstone-over-Radio support, and the modern Pneumatic Storage Network. It also contains many fixes for rockets, recipes, hazards, interfaces, world structures, rendering, and item handling.
Backpack system
- Added a dedicated backpack equipment slot to the player inventory.

- Added capacity, magnet, range, automatic sorting, portable workbench, and ammunition feeder upgrades.
- Added configurable upgrade slot counts for every backpack, from 0 to 10.

- Added optional built-in automatic pickup and automatic sorting.
- Added configurable energy requirements, energy capacity, and energy cost for built-in pickup.
- Added optional infinite slot and overstack storage modes.
- Added safe migration when storage settings are reduced. Items are returned instead of being silently deleted.
- Added safe handling for extremely large stored quantities without spawning millions of item entities at once.
- Added server-authoritative virtual storage for large and effectively unlimited inventories.
- Added search, one-click sorting, filling indicators, pages, and improved layout scaling.
- Automatic sorting now also applies to successful magnet pickups when enabled.
- The ammunition feeder can supply both classic HBM weapons and Sedna weapon magazines.
- Added radiation shielding, material resistance, environmental protection, and other tier-specific backpack properties.

Modern Chicago Pile
- Replaced the old progression entry with the modern Chicago Pile system from current original NTM.
- Added the connected graphite pile structure and its wooden frame.
- Added drilling and channel construction for fuel, controls, and ventilation.
- Added modern fuel loaders, control rods, and ventilation devices.
- Added the modern pile fuel rod family, including natural uranium, plutonium, neutron sources, breeding and waste-related variants.
- Added neutron propagation, moderation, heat transfer, fuel depletion, breeding, and failure behavior.
- Added controllable rod extraction and redstone operation.
- Added pneumatic cooling through compressed air and ventilation channels.
- Added temperature, operating state, fuel information, and device HUD data.
- Added Chicago Pile support to Redstone-over-Radio.
- Added radiation hazards for the new pile rods.
- Added pile recipes, anvil construction, assembly recipes, and PUREX recycling paths.
- Added connected textures, device models, item textures, manuals, localization, and advancement support.
- Old Chicago Pile blocks and rods are hidden from normal JEI progression to avoid confusing them with the new system.
- Existing legacy content remains available for old worlds instead of being removed from saved data.

- Fixed satellite chips being accepted as orbital spacecraft when they are only control devices.
- Fixed invalid or non-satellite items being accepted by satellite launch paths.
- Fixed Ground Station visuals, interaction position, linking status, and missing manual localization.
- Fixed satellite map linking and server-side map data access.

Pneumatic Storage Network
- Added the modern Pneumatic Storage Network while preserving existing Access, Clutter, and tube IDs.
- Added Bulk Storage with three independently assigned item types and up to 100,000 items per type.
- Added the Pneumatic Importer with nine input slots and automatic network insertion.
- Added the Pneumatic Exporter with nine filters and nine output slots.
- Added exporter modes for as much as possible, full stack, and full request behavior.
- Added one-shot redstone requests and continuous exporting.
- Added Redstone-over-Radio control for exporter filters, availability checks, slot requests, continuous mode, and manual requests.
- Added compressed air pressure requirements from 1 to 5 PU.
- Network range now depends on available pressure and consumes compressed air gradually.
- Improved routing so a full, filtered, unloaded, unavailable, or distant first destination no longer blocks every other valid destination.
- Preserved round-robin and random routing, filters, sided access, and stack transfers.
- Improved network rebuilds after splitting, merging, breaking blocks, and chunk unload or reload.
- Added safe partial transfers to prevent item duplication or loss.
- Added NBT validation and persistence for storage contents, filters, modes, pressure, retry delays, and redstone state.
- Added GUI pressure controls and pressure indicators to Access, Clutter, and Bulk Storage.
- Fixed Access retrieval through connected tubes after rejoining a world.
- Fixed importer transfers into connected storage.
- New Bulk Storage, Importer, and Exporter blocks currently have no survival recipes because the original upstream implementation does not provide them yet. They remain available for creative testing and commands.
Redstone-over-Radio
- Expanded Redstone-over-Radio support to match the current original NTM command behavior.
- Command names are now case-insensitive.
- Numeric command values now use consistent rounding, limits, separators, and error handling.
- Preserved existing Reforged aliases and local functions.
- Added or expanded remote information and controls for assembly machines and factories.
- Added or expanded controls for chemical plants, chemical factories, and PUREX.
- Added or expanded controls for combustion engines, gas turbines, boilers, Heatex, and oil burners.
- Added or expanded controls for PWR, RBMK systems, Zirnox, Watz, fusion machines, and core systems.
- Added or expanded controls for particle accelerator sources, magnets, RFC systems, and detectors.
- Added or expanded controls for batteries, capacitors, fluid equipment, pneumatic exporting, and turrets.
- Satellite commands remain connected to the new satellite registry instead of restoring the obsolete satellite storage format.
Rockets, stations, and space
- Fixed a crash when launching from one orbital station toward an invalid or missing destination.
- Invalid station drives now reject the launch safely instead of crashing the server.
- Fixed manually placed rockets sitting lower than automatically docked rockets.
- Fixed automatic orbital docking height.
- Fixed station port initialization and station save data handling.
- Improved rocket payload serialization so item metadata and NBT survive assembly, launch, docking, and disassembly.

- Restored missing Reiium processing and recipes used by Reiium-dependent equipment.
- Restored several missing weapon, tool, motor, component, and material recipes.
- Updated Chicago Pile construction and recycling recipes for the modern rod family.
- Updated satellite recipes to produce the modern unified satellite payloads.
- Fixed several recipes that still referenced removed or obsolete materials.
- Fixed Advanced Alloy and other affected recipes not appearing correctly in JEI.
- Improved chemical plant recipe ordering so related production chains are easier to follow.
- Replaced misleading chemical plant canister icons with the correct fluid icons for ethanol, biofuel, reclaimed oil, and gasoline.
- Fixed the gasoline entry appearing as if it had no usable chemical plant process.
- Updated radiation absorber progression where old legacy recipe paths were disabled.
- Updated loot pools that still produced obsolete components or old Chicago Pile rods.
Power and wiring
- Restored the large long-range connector behavior.
- Increased its useful connection range to match the intended original behavior.
- Simplified wire linking: select the first endpoint, then select the second endpoint.
- Fixed connection state and range handling for long-distance links.
Hazards and survival
- Rebalanced coal dust exposure and black lung progression.
- Small amounts of coal no longer produce severe symptoms almost immediately.
- Exposure now scales more gradually with amount and time.
- Added clearer staged coal dust warnings.
- Improved early protection behavior before advanced respiratory equipment is available.
- Added meaningful physical resistance to steel and titanium armor sets.
- Equipped backpacks now participate correctly in radiation and neutron activation handling.
- Backpack radiation shielding now reduces activation according to the backpack material.
- Decontamination equipment can correctly clean the selected hotbar item and equipped backpack.
- Improved resistance handling for high-tier dropped backpacks against fire, explosions, acid, and black holes where appropriate.
World generation and loot
- Improved generated structure reward handling.
- Added new rare discoveries to several existing structures and events without replacing their normal loot.
- Added one-time saved rolls so structure rewards do not reroll after chunk reloads.
- Fixed the meteor structure sometimes generating without its required book room.
- Updated several structure templates and loot containers.
- Updated obsolete component and material rewards in legacy loot pools.
Interface, rendering, and quality of life
- Restored background dimming in the Dark Fusion Core and Blast Furnace interfaces.

- Updated creative tab ordering for the expanded item and block set.

Other fixes
- Fixed feeding peas to Kracyk not returning the intended duck spawn items.
- Fixed the restored duck spawn item not creating the correct entity.
- Fixed taint crab loot still using an obsolete Advanced Alloy component.
- Fixed several item resistance and destruction edge cases.
- Added contract tests for backpack storage, virtual counts, upgrade compatibility, Chicago Pile behavior, satellites, rocket payloads, Pneumatic Storage, Redstone-over-Radio, and coal hazards.
Compatibility notes
- Existing 1.0.3 worlds remain the migration target for this update.
- Existing Pneumatic Storage registry IDs were preserved.
- Existing legacy Chicago Pile content was not deleted from saved worlds.
- Rocket payloads can still read older saved formats while writing the safer complete format.
- Large backpack storage and ownership data are saved server-side and restored after world reloads.
