Harry's Armor and Tools
Harry's Armor and Tools overhauls the vanilla armor and tool progression system by introducing 3 new smithing templates, a new alloy material and accompanying armor set. This mod is intended to greatly slow the pace of armor and tool progression, and make each set feel rewarding to acquire. JEI is recommended to clearly see the new recipes.
Smithing Templates
Acquiring higher-tier tools and armor is now done via the new smithing templates, much like Netherite in vanilla. The new progression path is Copper -> Iron -> Aurium -> Diamond, and finally -> Netherite, with each tier (apart from copper) having its own unique template. This means, for example to craft a Netherite hoe, you will first have to start with a Copper hoe and upgrade it through all 5 tiers. The amount of resources required for each tool/armor piece is meant to be easily doable for a player in the latter stages of the game, yet somewhat challenging for one in the earlier stages. Each template can be duplicated similarly to the vanilla templates, however requiring slightly different materials, relevant to each tier.
Finding Smithing Templates
The new smithing templates, much like the Netherite one in vanilla, can be found throughout various vanilla structures.

Crafting with the new Smithing Templates
To upgrade a tool or piece of armor, you will need a smithing template of the next tier, and a material component of that tier. However, these are not just a simple ingot or diamond. Iron and aurium require Reinforced Iron and Aurium Sheets, crafted from 4 of their respective ingots in a square, and diamond requires a Diamond Ingot, crafted from 4 diamonds and 4 iron ingots.
Aurium - A new alloy of gold and iron
Aurium tools and armor fit neatly into the gap between diamond and iron. Combining one raw iron and one raw gold yields one Raw Aurium Blend, which smelts into Aurium Ingots. Being made with gold, Aurium boasts the second highest enchantability in the game, incentivising enchantment at this tier before upgrading to diamond. To make this possible, Aurium Pickaxes can now mine obsidian. There is also a set of building blocks associated with this new material.
