The night was too easy. Not anymore.
Hard Mobs adds four elite monsters that roam the world alongside the vanilla ones, and three bosses you have to call out yourself. Beat them, and their remains become the strongest gear in the game. No dependencies, no GeckoLib — just drop it in.
Available for Forge 1.20.1
The Elites
Rare, dangerous, and each one breaks a habit you picked up fighting zombies.
- Emberling — A small fire elemental. Spits embers from range, sets the ground alight as it chases you, and hates the rain. Common in the Nether, rare in the Overworld.
- Bone Brute — An overgrown skeleton built out of smaller ones. Fires five-bone volleys, shrugs off arrows and knockback, and its hits wither. Break it to half health and the skeletons it was made from climb out.
- Shade Stalker — Tall, thin, and it will not let you keep your distance. It blinks onto you when you run and slips away when you hit it. Its hits blind. Found in the Overworld and the End.
- Stone Maul — Slow, armoured and immovable. Every few seconds it slams the ground and throws everyone nearby into the air.
The Bosses
Bosses never spawn on their own. Craft a totem from elite drops and use it in the right place — each boss only answers in its own realm. Every boss has a health bar, a second phase at half health, and cannot be cheesed off a ledge.
- Ashen Monarch (Nether, 400 HP) — Ember volleys at range, a line of flame pillars up close. Enraged, it burns everything around it and calls Emberlings to its side.
- Frost Sovereign (cold biomes, 320 HP) — Icicle fans you cannot strafe out of, a freezing nova, and an ice cage that locks you in place.
- Void Colossus (the End, 500 HP) — Homing void bolts, a gravity pulse that drags you back in, and it blinks straight onto anyone who runs. Enraged, Shade Stalkers join the fight.
The Rewards
- Boss weapons — guaranteed drops.
- Emberblade — every hit burns; every third hit erupts in a ring of fire.
- Frostmaul — slow and brutal, it freezes what it hits.
- Void Reaper — steals life, and right-click blinks you forward.
- Doom Armor — forged from all three boss cores. Above netherite, and the full set gives 30% less damage, no fall damage, no burning, plus Strength II, Speed I and Haste II.
- Doom Ingot & Tools — a pickaxe, axe, shovel and hoe that mine anything.
- Doomblade — all three boss weapons forged into one. It burns, freezes and drains life, and every third hit sets off fire, frost and void at once. Right-click to blink.
Advancements
A 14-advancement tree tracks your climb from your first Emberling to the Doomblade — with XP rewards for clearing the elites, every boss, and taking all three crowns.
