Handy Starters adds a small handful of cheap, early-accessible items and blocks that smooth out the most annoying parts of a fresh Minecraft world — no config, no bloat, just quality-of-life.

Works on both Fabric and NeoForge, and installs equally well in singleplayer or on a dedicated server. It only adds new content — no vanilla mechanic is changed — so it's safe to drop into a world or server you're already playing on.

Features

🪵 Wooden Cane

Craft 3 sticks into a cane and step up a full block without jumping — no more getting stuck on a single-block ledge. (It also burns as furnace fuel once you're done with it.)

🪚 Pole Saw

An axe/hoe hybrid on a long handle: mines any axe- or hoe-harvestable block at stone-tool speed, and its extended reach lets you chop from a step back (it won't till farmland — that needs an actual hoe). Great for felling tall trees without having to climb them log by log. Crafted from 3 sticks and 4 copper ingots.

🌾 Coarse Fiber

A humble crafting material that drops from short grass, tall grass, seagrass and dead bushes at the same odds as vanilla wheat seeds (boosted by Fortune, skipped with Shears). Bundle 6 into a string, burn it as furnace fuel, or feed it into wood pellets.

🔥 Wood Pellet

A compact furnace fuel made by recycling worn-out wooden gear — sticks, saplings, coarse fiber, or a full set of wooden tools, a bow, or a fishing rod — so nothing wooden has to go to waste. One pellet burns for exactly one furnace smelt.

🏹 Crude Arrow

A cheap, rough alternative to the standard arrow: cobblestone, a stick and coarse fiber craft into two. Deals less damage and flies less accurately than a normal arrow, and can't be picked back up — a disposable option for early combat that doesn't eat into your good arrow stock. Works from bows and dispensers alike.

📦 Wooden Feeder / Wooden Extractor

A cheaper, earlier-game alternative to the iron hopper. The Feeder only pushes items out; the Extractor only pulls items in. Each one moves items a single hop, so they don't chain together for more complex setups.

Installation

1. Install Fabric Loader or NeoForge matching the Minecraft version of the file you download.
2. If using Fabric, install Fabric API as well.
3. Drop the Handy Starters jar for your loader into your mods folder.

📥 CurseForge ・ Modrinth

Handy Starters は、マインクラフトの序盤で感じる「地味に面倒」な部分に対応するため、 序盤でも手に入りやすい素材で作成可能なアイテム・ブロックをいくつか追加します。 設定項目もなく、余計なものも増やさず、快適さだけを追加します。

FabricとNeoForgeの両方に対応しており、シングルプレイでも専用サーバーでも同じように 導入できます。バニラの仕様を変更せず新しいコンテンツを追加するだけなので、 すでにプレイ中のワールドやサーバーに導入しても安全です。

機能

🪵 木の杖

棒3本から杖を作れば、ジャンプせずに1ブロックの段差をそのまま登れるようになります。 使い終わったらかまどの燃料にもできます。

🪚 高枝ノコギリ

長柄の道具です。斧または鍬で採掘できるブロックを石ツール相当の 速さで採掘でき、リーチも延びるので一歩下がった位置から伐採できます（ただし鍬のように 畑を耕すことはできません）。木に登らずに高い木を伐採するのに便利です。 棒3本と銅インゴット4個で作成できます。

🌾 粗い繊維

短い草・背の高い草・海草・枯れ木から、バニラの小麦の種と同じ確率でドロップする素材です （幸運のエンチャントで増加、ハサミで破壊すると出ません）。6個まとめて糸にしたり、 かまどの燃料にしたり、木質ペレットの材料にできたりします。

🔥 木質ペレット

使い古した木製の道具をリサイクルして作る、コンパクトなかまどの燃料です — 棒、苗木、 粗い繊維、または木製の道具一式・弓・釣り竿からも作れるので、不要な木製品を無駄にしません。 ペレット1個でちょうどかまど1回分の精錬ができます。

🏹 粗末な矢

通常の矢より安価で粗雑な代替品です。丸石・棒・粗い繊維から2本作れます。通常の矢より ダメージが低く命中精度も低い上、回収もできませんが、大事な矢を減らさずに済み、 冒険序盤の使い捨て武器として便利です。弓からもディスペンサーからも発射できます。

📦 木製供給器・木製取出器

鉄のホッパーより安価で序盤から作れる代替品です。供給器は隣接ブロックへアイテムを押し出すだけ、 取出器は隣接ブロックからアイテムを引き込むだけの機能です。ただし供給器・取出器同士の接続では、 アイテムの移動ができない仕組みのため、複雑な搬送システムには不向きです。

インストール方法

1. ダウンロードするファイルのMinecraftバージョンに合わせて、Fabric Loader または NeoForge をインストールします。
2. Fabricを使う場合は、Fabric APIも合わせてインストールしてください。
3. CurseForge または Modrinth から使用しているローダー用のjarファイルをダウンロードし、modsフォルダに入れます。
