  • Hammer Reworked

    Hammer Reworked is an independent tool expansion mod for Minecraft Forge 1.12.2. It adds hammers, excavators, tree axes, and sickles made from Wood, Stone, Iron, Gold, Diamond, and Emerald.

    The mod is designed to make repetitive mining, excavation, tree cutting, and farming faster while avoiding large instant operations that could cause lag. Most multi-block actions are processed gradually over multiple game ticks, and the mod does not force-load chunks.

    How Hammer Reworked Differs from Hammer Time

    Hammer Reworked is not an official continuation, update, or replacement for Hammer Time. It is a separate implementation created to provide a different set of mechanics, configuration options, performance safeguards, and tool behaviors.

    Only adapted 3D tool models and visual assets from Hammer Time are used. The gameplay systems, configuration system, multi-block processing, tree detection, crop harvesting, replanting, sickle behavior, performance protections, and other mechanics were independently implemented for Hammer Reworked.

    Hammer Reworked differs from the original project in several important ways:

    It adds four complete tool families: Hammers, Excavators, Tree Axes, and Sickles.

    It includes Wood, Stone, Iron, Gold, Diamond, and Emerald variants.

    It adds Emerald tools with special or expanded abilities.

    It processes large operations gradually over multiple server ticks instead of attempting to break every block instantly.

    It includes configurable limits for area mining, tree detection, leaf processing, durability, and processing speed.

    It avoids force-loading unloaded chunks.

    It cancels active operations when the player changes tools or hotbar slots.

    It allows players to disable area effects by sneaking.

    It includes controlled tree detection designed to avoid cutting nearby independent trees.

    It adds crop harvesting with automatic replanting.

    It adds material-based crop output multipliers.

    It adds configurable vegetation-clearing areas.

    It adds local leaf-cutting behavior without scanning or removing entire forest canopies.

    It preserves Forge block-break events, permissions, durability, enchantments, drops, and experience whenever possible.

    It includes safeguards for Tile Entities, large trees, modded environments, and dedicated servers.

    Requirements

    Minecraft 1.12.2

    Minecraft Forge 14.23.5.2859

    Java 8

    Hammers

    Hammers are designed for mining stone, ores, and other compatible blocks.

    Regular hammers mine a 3×3×1 area.

    The mining plane changes according to the direction the player is looking.

    The Emerald Hammer mines a deeper 3×3×4 area.

    Additional blocks are processed over multiple ticks.

    Sneaking disables area mining and breaks only one block.

    Changing the selected hotbar slot cancels the current area-mining task.

    Normal Minecraft harvesting rules are preserved, including durability, experience, Fortune, Silk Touch, permissions, and block-break events.

    Excavators

    Excavators are used on dirt, sand, gravel, clay, and similar materials.

    Regular excavators remove a 3×3×1 area.

    The Emerald Excavator can excavate a deeper 3×3×4 area.

    Blocks are processed gradually to reduce sudden server load.

    Sneaking disables the area effect.

    The task stops when the player changes tools or hotbar slots.

    Excavators use the standard Forge harvesting system, allowing compatibility with enchantments and protection mods.

    Tree Axes

    Tree Axes cut complete trees using controlled tree detection.

    The system searches for connected logs while checking nearby leaves and branches. It includes limits that help prevent the axe from accidentally removing large forests or neighboring independent trees.

    All Tree Axes can fell complete detected trees.

    Blocks are processed over multiple ticks.

    Sneaking breaks only the selected block.

    Changing tools or hotbar slots cancels the operation.

    Tree detection avoids force-loading unloaded chunks.

    Nearby trees with separate rooted trunks are ignored whenever possible.

    Emerald Tree Axe

    The Emerald Tree Axe is faster and can additionally:

    Remove natural leaves belonging to the detected tree.

    Search slightly beyond the visible log structure for connected natural leaves.

    Gather dropped items near the first chopped block.

    Process more blocks per tick than the other Tree Axes.

    Sickles

    Sickles are designed for farming, vegetation clearing, and leaf cutting.

    Crop Harvesting

    Right-click a mature crop while holding a Sickle.

    Wooden, Stone, Iron, Gold, and Diamond Sickles harvest a 3×3 crop area.

    The Emerald Sickle harvests a 5×5 crop area.

    Harvested crops are automatically replanted.

    Only mature crops are harvested.

    Sneaking and right-clicking harvests only the selected crop.

    Drops are gathered around the crop that was clicked.

    Supported vanilla crops include:

    Wheat

    Carrots

    Potatoes

    Beetroot

    Nether Wart

    Cocoa

    Crop output increases according to the Sickle material:

    Wooden: ×1.00

    Stone: ×1.15

    Iron: ×1.35

    Gold: ×1.75

    Diamond: ×2.00

    Emerald: ×3.00

    Fortune provides an additional bonus without repeatedly multiplying the material bonus.

    Vegetation Clearing

    Breaking grass, flowers, vines, bushes, and other compatible vegetation activates an area effect.

    Wooden Sickle: 3×3

    Stone Sickle: 4×4

    Iron Sickle: 5×5

    Gold Sickle: 6×6

    Diamond Sickle: 6×6

    Emerald Sickle: 8×8

    Even-sized areas are oriented according to the direction the player is facing.

    Leaf Cutting

    Iron, Gold, Diamond, and Emerald Sickles can cut leaves in a 3×3 plane.

    This effect does not scan the entire tree and does not remove connected canopies. It only affects the local 3×3 area, helping prevent unnecessary lag.

    Enchantments

    Hammer Reworked tools support applicable vanilla enchantments, including:

    Efficiency

    Unbreaking

    Fortune

    Silk Touch

    Mending

    Area operations use Minecraft and Forge harvesting mechanics whenever possible, preserving normal drops, durability, experience, block-break events, and permission checks.

    Configuration

    After launching Minecraft with the mod installed, Forge creates the configuration file at:

    .minecraft/config/hammerreworked.cfg

    For a development environment, it is normally located at:

    run/config/hammerreworked.cfg

    Close Minecraft or stop the server before editing the file. Open it with a plain-text editor, change the desired values, save it, and restart the game or server.

    Durability Settings

    General Durability Multiplier

    Controls the durability of Stone, Iron, Gold, Diamond, and Emerald tools.

    durabilityMultiplier=4.0

    For example, a value of 4.0 gives those tools four times their base durability.

    Wooden Durability Multiplier

    Controls Wooden tools separately.

    woodenDurabilityMultiplier=0.75

    A value below 1.0 reduces durability, while a value above 1.0 increases it.

    Area-Mining Settings

    Blocks Processed per Tick

    areaBlocksPerTick=8

    Controls how many extra Hammer or Excavator blocks are processed during each server tick.

    Higher values make area mining complete faster but may increase server load.

    Maximum Blocks per Use

    areaMaximumBlocksPerUse=64

    Limits the total number of additional blocks that one area-mining action may process.

    Skip Tile Entities

    areaSkipTileEntities=true

    When enabled, Hammers and Excavators skip blocks containing Tile Entities, such as many machines, containers, and special modded blocks.

    Keeping this enabled is recommended for safety and compatibility.

    Tree-Felling Settings

    Logs Processed per Tick

    treeBlocksPerTick=8

    Controls how quickly normal Tree Axes process detected tree blocks.

    Maximum Detected Logs

    treeMaxLogs=512

    Limits the number of logs that one tree-felling action may include.

    Maximum Visited Blocks

    treeMaxVisitedBlocks=4096

    Limits how many positions the tree detector may inspect.

    This is an important safety setting for large trees and modded environments.

    Leaf Bridge Distance

    treeMaxLeafBridge=3

    Controls how far the detector may travel through natural leaves to find branches belonging to the same tree.

    Higher values improve detection of irregular trees but may increase the chance of reaching nearby trees.

    Horizontal Search Radius

    treeHorizontalRadius=12

    Limits how far the tree detector may search horizontally from the first chopped block.

    Maximum Height

    treeMaximumHeight=64

    Limits how far upward the detector may search.

    Maximum Depth

    treeMaximumDepth=6

    Limits how far below the first chopped block the detector may search for logs or roots.

    Rooted Trunk Radius

    treeRootedTrunkRadius=2

    Controls the radius used to identify separate rooted trunks.

    This setting helps prevent a nearby independent tree from being treated as part of the selected tree.

    Emerald Tree Axe Settings

    Blocks Processed per Tick

    emeraldAxeBlocksPerTick=16

    Controls the processing speed of the Emerald Tree Axe.

    Leaf Search Distance

    emeraldAxeLeafSearchDistance=5

    Controls how far the Emerald Tree Axe may search for natural leaves associated with the detected tree.

    Maximum Leaves

    emeraldAxeMaxLeaves=1024

    Limits the number of leaves that one Emerald Tree Axe operation may process.

    Recommended Configuration Advice

    For single-player worlds and small servers, the default settings provide a good balance between speed and performance.

    For larger modpacks or public servers:

    Keep Tile Entity skipping enabled.

    Avoid setting very high blocks-per-tick values.

    Keep maximum tree logs and visited blocks limited.

    Reduce Emerald Tree Axe leaf limits when using very large modded trees.

    Restart the game or server after changing the configuration.

    Increasing processing limits can make tools faster, but extreme values may cause temporary lag when breaking large structures.

    Performance and Compatibility

    Hammer Reworked is designed around controlled processing:

    Multi-block operations are distributed over multiple ticks.

    Unloaded chunks are not force-loaded.

    Tool changes cancel active operations.

    Sneaking disables area effects.

    Tree scanning uses configurable limits.

    Sickles do not perform full-canopy leaf searches.

    Standard Forge harvesting and permission checks are used whenever possible.
