Guhs 1.4.0 (Minecraft 26.1.2)
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
The biggest update so far: a big story in six chapters, a castle you play from the side, thirteen buildings with their own questlines in the Guhbarbecuether, guh machines that run on chonk power, an island where you are a dog, three new biomes in the Guhmension, and the Guh Path that ties the big stories and the worlds together. Same requirements as 1.3.2. Existing worlds and servers keep everything (no world reset): new structures only appear in chunks that were not generated yet, and Sniff Island is a new dimension that the game adds by itself. Everything is per player, so any number of players can do every story and questline on one server. And as always: nothing in this update can hurt you or cost you items.
Read this first: four rules that change
- The Guhbarbecuether opens with the stories. The grill portal only lets you through once you have (1) followed all five big stories of the Guhmension: Baltoguh and Nomguh, Guhtwo and Clone Island, The Cloud Chapel, Ohana on Guhwai'i and the new Sniff Island, and (2) finished chapter 1 of The Lord of the Nibble Ring (Guhdalf's nibble party, which is in the Guhmension). This holds for everyone, also if you have been to the Guhbarbecuether before. If you are in there when the update arrives you may stay as long as you like, and the way back out is never locked; once you are out, you get back in after the stories. Everything you had already done is kept. The portal and Guhdalf tell you exactly which stories you are still missing.
- The Guheinde (Guh End) opens after the Guhbarbecuether. The portal in the Nibble Cellar only lets you through once you have followed The Lord of the Nibble Ring and Super Guhrio and have beaten the Aangebrande Mika (Burnt Mika). A Burnt Mika you summoned before this update counts. The same rule as above for whoever is already inside: stay as long as you like, leaving always works.
- A Bank Guh holds 256 of each kind of item. Its screen and tooltip show the count ("n/256"). One upgrade, the Bodemloos Knabbelmaagje (Bottomless Nibble Belly), makes a bank bottomless again and stays on it when you pick the bank up; you earn it from the Inventor Guh in the Guhbarbecuether. Does a bank already hold more than 256 of something? Nothing is lost and you can always take it out; you just cannot add more of that kind until it is under 256 or the bank is upgraded.
- Guhdraad (Guh Wire) and the Guhoven (Guh Oven) need a real power source. Guh Wire now carries vadskracht (chonk power) and nothing else: redstone into the wire does nothing any more. A Guh Wheel with a guh running in it makes 10 chonk power (15 with a happy guh), a Guh Oven uses 5. Everything on one stretch of wire is one setup, and when a setup asks for more than its sources make, the whole setup stands still until you add a source or take a machine off. Look at any wheel, wire or machine to read how your setup is doing ("This setup uses 10/15 chonk power"). An oven or wire that was fed by redstone stands still until it has a real source. Guh Wire still gives a redstone signal while its setup runs, so a Guh Wheel that drives redstone keeps working.
The Guh Path (Het Guhpad)
- The big stories open the worlds: first the Guhmension, then the Guhbarbecuether, then the Guh End (the two locks above). Seven stories count: the five of the Guhmension, The Lord of the Nibble Ring and Super Guhrio. The Carpenter Guh, the Grill Guh, the buildings and Guh Technology are there for the fun of it.
- A path map in the Guhdex. The Tales tab starts with the whole Guh Path: a check mark where you are done, a lock where you may not go yet, and what a stop still asks when you point at it. Below it the stories are sorted per world and can be folded open and shut. Big stories carry a little gold star.
- Mijn verhaal (My Story) on the Super Compass. The first choice of every tab. It points to the next step of the story you follow, or else to the nearest big story you have not done yet (to the portal when that is in another world).
- Quest book: a second chapter group, The Guh Path, at the bottom of the sidebar: Tales of the Guhmension, Tales of the Guhbarbecuether, Tales of the Guh End and The Real Guh End. Each starts with a lock quest that ticks off the stories you have. The story quests moved there from their old chapters; your progress is kept.
- Het echte Guheinde (The Real Guh End) is a chapter full of question marks with one counter, "Stories followed". Nobody knows what lies there yet.
Sniff Island (Het Snuffeleiland)
- A new story in the Guhmension, the fifth big one. It starts at a Steigerhuisje (Dock Cottage): a white cottage with a pier at a Deep Guh Sea (Super Compass, Tales tab, or My Story). Your little brother or sister is ill, only a healing flower can help, and Papa has been looking for it for weeks. You sail after him, wash ashore on an island... and wake up as a dog.
- You are a dog there. Choose your breed (Shiba, Jack Russell, Dachshund, Corgi, Golden Retriever or Pug, each in three coats), a name and a buddy. Other players see your dog with your name above it. You can sit, wag and bark, and above all sniff: hold the sniff key and a scent meter swings harder the closer you get; its color says what you smell. On the spot you dig. Every scent goes into your sniff book.
- Sniffville and the first sniffing series (about 30 to 45 minutes): lessons at the sniff school, villagers who have mislaid something, a little tree that grows with every good deed, and an exam without a clock in which you cannot fail. You finish as a Snuffelpup (Sniff Pup), rank 1 of 5. The other ranks and the rest of the island come in a later update.
- Your things are safe. On the island your own inventory waits for you exactly as it was, and you have it back in the same place when you go home, also after logging out or a server restart. You cannot build or break there and nothing can hurt you.
- There and back. The captain at a Dock Cottage sails you over as often as you like. At the end of the series you get the Guhstation, a little game console that takes you back to where you last stood on the island. The Memory Card in your hotbar ("Save and go home") or the island's captain brings you home, exactly to where you left. There is no music on the island, only its own sounds.
The Lord of the Nibble Ring (In de ban van de Knabbelring)
- The big story of the Guhbarbecuether, in six chapters. A ring-shaped nibble that makes everyone greedy has to go to Mount Fry. Guhdalf starts it in the Guhmension once you have followed the five stories there and the Grill Guh's barbecue burns again; from chapter 2 on it plays in the Guhbarbecuether, with a real trek between the chapters and rest stops on the way.
- Easy to follow. A Journey Map in the Guhdex shows the chapters with "You are here" and "What to do now", an objective line stays on your screen (you can switch it off in the Guhdex), and the Super Compass and Sam-guh always point to the next goal. Sam-guh walks with you the whole way.
- Real camera scenes at the big moments, and a story card with a drawn map before each chapter. During a scene you cannot be pushed and nothing can happen to you. Every scene can be watched again from the Guhdex.
- No spoilers. The place of a later chapter is hidden behind Guhdalf's Veil, a wall of smoke that gently sends you back until your own story gets there; it is not on the Super Compass until then either. The story places are protected against breaking and building.
- Nobody gets hurt. Whatever is on the road only shoves you back to your last rest fire. Sneaking, puzzles and a climb make it the hardest questline so far, but failing never costs anything.
- Afterwards the places stay open with new chats, you may walk along with a friend who is still on the way, and there are outfits, a title, a statuette and two companions to earn.
- Where does it start? In newly generated terrain the big Barbecue Pit with the Grill Guh is the middle of a Knabbelgouw (Nibble Shire). At a big Barbecue Pit that already exists, Guhdalf pitches his camp next to it.
- Eight small winks: here and there somebody from an older story walks through the picture.
Super Guhrio
- Het Kasteel van de Grote Nether-Mika (Big Nether Mika's Castle), in a sauce sea of the Guhbarbecuether: one castle within reach of the middle of the world and only a rare extra one far away. It is in the Super Compass.
- Six levels played in side view: A and D to walk, space to jump, S to duck or go down a pipe, W through a door, sprint to run. Question blocks, pipes, moving platforms, a flagpole at the end of every level, and a duel at the very end.
- No lives. A fall or a bump puts you back at your last flag. Coins and progress are per player, and several players can be in a level at once.
- To collect: three big chonk coins per level (the Guhdex shows which ones you have), secrets and bonus rooms, your own best time per level and for the whole castle next to the server record, and level coins to spend in Pad-guh's shop on outfits and building blocks (a question block, a flagpole and a green pipe that really takes you to another pipe nearby).
- Guhshi: you find his egg on the way, ride him in the later levels, and afterwards he can be yours, once per player.
The Guhbarbecuether's buildings
- Thirteen buildings, each with somebody who has a short questline for every player and a modest reward: the Fossil Dig (Archaeologist Guh), the Salt Crystal Mine (Mineworker Guh), the Smoke Guh Lighthouse (Lighthouse Keeper Guh), the Pepper Garden (Pepper Grower Guh), the Grill Campground (Camp Boss Guh), the Nether Mika Barter Market (Market Master Mika), the Mika Apartments (Granny Mika), the Mika Stable (Stable Hand Guh), the Mika Bridge Palace (Toll Keeper Mika), the Sauce Strider Stable (Caretaker Guh), the Old Guh Wheel Power Plant (Inventor Guh), and two you already know: the Skewer Keep now has a Guard Guh and the Mika Grill Palace a Plushie Maker Guh. Those two also turn up at keeps and palaces that already stand in your world.
- Every new building is in the Super Compass (Barbecue tab) and stands at least once within reach of the middle of the world, in terrain nobody has explored yet. The new buildings are protected against breaking and building; the Skewer Keep and the Grill Palace stay as they were.
- New creatures: the Sausloper (Sauce Strider), a long-legged mount that walks on the frying sauce; the bouncing Sausblubje (Sauce Blubby); the Worstzwijntje (Sausage Piglet); and the Bezorgguhtje (Delivery Guhling) on its scooter. All sweet.
- New things from the questlines: salt crystal (the key to the second tier of Guh Technology), pepper plants and two new Guh Potions, plushie blocks, a bridge building set, a fossil statuette, tents and a big campfire, and several outfits.
- Six new Guhdex pages (Sauce Blubby, Sauce Strider, Sausage Piglet, Delivery Guhling, Guhshi and Sam-guh) count for a complete Guhdex. If you already had the title for a full Guhdex, you keep it.
Guh Technology (Guh-technologie)
- Guhs make chonk power, guh machines use it. Sources: the Guh Wheel, the Knuffelgenerator (Cuddle Generator) (a big pink cushion your guhs come and lie on), the Disco-dynamo (Disco Dynamo) (a dance floor with a turntable), the Blub Stove and the Glowstar Core, plus the Knabbelbatterij (Nibble Battery) to store some. There is a maximum per kind of source in one setup; an extra one says "Doesn't count" when you look at it.
- Every machine has a snoot that shows how it is doing: asleep without chonk power, happy at work, surprised when it is full.
- Knabbelbuizen (Nibble Tubes): see-through tubes in which you watch your items roll, with a Direction Piece and a Filter Piece. They connect to chests, machines and the Bank Guh.
- Machines: the Slurper (picks up loose items), the Harvester, the Nibbler (breaks the block in front of it), the Placer, the Knutselmachine (Tinker Machine) for auto-crafting with a Blueprint from the Drawing Table, the Plantagebak (Plantation Box) that grows any sapling into a tree within a minute, the Chonk Mill, and an Auto Brewer and Auto Fryer. Machines respect protected buildings and other players' Guh House areas.
- Sauce on tap: a Sauce Pump on a sauce source, Sauce Hoses, a Sauce Vat with a tap, and the Grill Coal Press.
- The Bezorgguhtje (Delivery Guhling) lives in a Scooter Station and rides between Stop Posts to pick up and drop off, within about 96 blocks.
- Sensors: the Stock Meter, the Sniff Sensor, the Guh Clock and the Guh Counter.
- Four tiers. The first can be made right away (Guh Wheel, Guh Wire, Guh Oven, Cuddle Generator, Disco Dynamo). The second needs salt crystal from the Guhbarbecuether; the third the recipe cards of the Inventor Guh in the Old Guh Wheel Power Plant, who teaches it all in his practice hall; the fourth comes after the Burnt Mika, with the Glowstar Core and De Grote Knabbelmachine (The Great Nibble Machine) as the big project at the end. So everything from the second tier on lies behind the grill portal.
- A quest book chapter of its own, Guh Technology, built from projects ("Never Bake Yourself Again", "Everything into the Bank by Itself", "Sauce on Tap", "A Factory That Keeps Going"): after every quest or two something works in your own world.
- New chores for the residents of a Guh House: refill and empty guh machines (off until you switch it on, and a machine only gets what you have shown it once), plant and chop in Plantation Boxes, and harvest more crops (pumpkin, melon, sugar cane, cocoa, peppers and sprouts).
The Bank Guh
- The Hapluikje (Nom Hatch). Link it to one of your Bank Guhs with a Bank Key, and everything that goes in (by hand, hopper, tube, chore guh or Delivery Guhling) lands in that bank, however far away it stands, even in another dimension. It needs chonk power and only takes things in. When the bank is full for that kind, the hatch refuses and keeps the items.
- Putting in always works, taking out only through a Filter Piece. Hoppers and Nibble Tubes can put items into a Bank Guh, up to its limit. Nothing comes out through a hopper, a plain tube or a Stop Post. Only a Nibble Tube with a Filter Piece takes items out, and only from a bank with the Bottomless Nibble Belly: the filter's list says what to take, and "leave at least" how much must stay.
- Nothing gets lost at the limit. The bank screen, deposit-all, the crafting grid, JEI's "+" and the chores of a Guh House all leave with you (or in the chest) what no longer fits.
Scenes for the older stories
- Six older stories each got one short camera scene (15 to 25 seconds) at their biggest moment: Baltoguh and Nomguh, Guhtwo and Clone Island, Ohana on Guhwai'i, the Cloud Chapel, the Grill Guh and the Carpenter Guh. You see it once, at that moment, and can watch it again from the Guhdex. Were you already past that moment? Then you do not have to redo anything: the scene is simply ready to watch in your Guhdex.
Three new biomes in the Guhmension
- Far out, in terrain nobody has visited yet, lie the Bloesemmeertje (Blossom Lake), the Klaterdal (Babbledale) and the Wolkenweide (Cloud Meadow). No Mika spawns in any of them.
- Blossom Lake: a calm lake with islands, guh blossom trees on the shore and pink petals on the water. Koi in five colors (take one home in a bucket of water), frogguhs on lily pads and the Bloesemguh (Blossom Guh). At the Boathouse the Fisher Guh lends you his rowboat and teaches you the lake in four little lessons; on a rare Picnic Island guhs celebrate hanami.
- Babbledale: a terraced valley full of brooks and waterfalls, with red and orange maples, guh bamboo and bonsai, and the Tanukiguh (Tanuki Guh). To find: pink torii gates with guh ears, a tea house by a tall waterfall, an arched bridge, stone guh lanterns, a zen corner and stepping stones.
- Het weebhuisje (The Weeb House), sometimes one in a Babbledale. Evivads and Nielsvads (Evichonk and Nielschonk) live there. Wave them off when they leave for Japan by balloon, and when they are back everyone who waved gets a present, as often as you like: the Japan Collection of twelve decorations, food for you and your guhs, and four outfits. The house cannot be broken.
- The Cloud Meadow: a pale meadow under stacks of floating islets and clouds. A cloud lift takes you up, a cloud stream back down, and a fall there never hurts. Wolkenschaapjes (Cloud Lambs) give cloud fluff and wild Cloud Guhs live there. To find: the Cloud Shepherd's Hut (four lessons from fluff to cloud blocks), the Balloon Harbor, the Observatory Ruin, the very rare Rainbow Bridge, the Cloud Castle (sneak past the sleeping Giant Guh; if he wakes up he only sneezes you outside) and the Lightning Forge.
- New block sets to build with: Pink Lacquerwood, Smooth Snugglestone, Guh Roof Tiles with a Roof Curl, Shoji Sliding Panels, Tatami Mats, Stone Guh Lanterns, Raked Sand, Potted Bonsai, Babble Moss, Lake Tiles, Cloud Blocks, Thunderclouds, Rainbow Blocks and cloud furniture.
- The Super Compass has a tab Biomes: a row per dimension with all its biomes. Pick one and the compass points to the nearest spot and says about how far it is; biomes you have visited get a check mark. The new buildings are on the tabs Cozy and Wonders.
- Also: fifty new quests in the chapter The Guhmension, four titles (Weeb, Head in the Clouds, Bless You!, Koi Whisperer), four new destinations at the Travel Agency (twenty in all), and four bonus pages in the Guhdex (Blossom Guh, Tanuki Guh, Koi, Cloud Lamb) that are not needed for a complete Guhdex.
- On a world that exists already the three biomes only appear in chunks that were not generated yet.
Smaller things, and for servers
- Quest book: more than 1,100 quests in two chapter groups, with the new chapter Guh Technology in the group Guhs and the big stories in The Guh Path. Packs get the new chapters by themselves; chapters a pack changed are left alone.
- Everything is in the Guhdex, the quest book and the wiki, in Dutch and English. One line is the same in both languages on purpose. You will know it when you hear it.
- Servers: no world reset and no new start-up flags. The first start with this version takes longer: the mod looks for a place in unexplored terrain for every new building and story place (a couple of minutes on a big world; let it finish). On a world that has been explored far and wide the new buildings stand further out; the Super Compass finds them.
- For admins:
/guhs bouwcheck gegarandeerd <dimension>lists where every guaranteed building landed,/guhs ringh1 zetkampputs Guhdalf's camp at a big Barbecue Pit where you stand (for a pit where players built on every free spot), and/guhs guhpad gedaan <player> <story|alles>marks a big story as followed for the Guh Path. A live map should not show the places listed indata/guhs/kaart/verborgen.jsonof the jar: they are the story's surprises.
