Welcome to the first public release of Grimroot, a Minecraft horror experience focused on atmosphere, exploration, and psychological tension. This update introduces the core systems, entities, and world generation that shape the cursed wilderness spreading beneath your world.

  • New biome: The Grimwood

    • Dense dead forests

    • Hanging moss and corrupted roots

    • Thick ambient fog

    • Custom atmospheric lighting

  • New entity: The Rootwalker

    • Stalks players silently through forests

    • Avoids direct confrontation until nightfall

Gameplay Changes

Known Issues

  • Some structures may generate partially underground

  • Ambient sounds can occasionally overlap

  • Headphones strongly recommended

Developer Notes

Grimroot is designed to feel slow, oppressive, and unpredictable rather than focused on jumpscares alone. Future updates will expand the lore, add new creatures, and deepen the corruption mechanics.
