Stone Age Progression & Wildlife Updates - Gradesend Beta 0.66.4
Hello! The stone age progression is now done! You can now spawn in and go through the stone age! The progression takes a few hours to a day depending on the biome you spawn in! Unless you spawn in an ocean, then quit the world and start over! I made some changes to correct some mistakes that were made in previous updates, cobbled appliances have been removed and replaced with ceramics
Mechanics Changes:
Minecraft's inventory too small? No problem! I made it smaller! In order to add to realism and difficulty, you will now spawn in with 5 slots, the remaining hotbar slots will be locked until you get a ceramic pot, which will unlock the remaining 3 slots, it must be in your hotbar to grant you the storage, the decision was made to force the player to make challenging choices and I thought it was weird that you could spawn in and carry a club, pickaxe, hatchet, bow, sub machine gun, sniper, etc, now instead of having to worry about inventory management players can decide what items really matter to them! To address crafting challenges I will be adding a mini storage to the crafting table and allow them to access nearby chests in a future update. Lost inventory slots will be reclaimable in a future update when larger containers and backpacks are eventually added. Since the mod is in beta, 8/9 slots will be enough for now.
- Layering is now possible, you can layer armor ontop of winter PPE to protect yourself without having to give up your armor, fortunately since armor tiers are not yet integrated into the mod this won't be a concern, when they are, layered clothing will stack properties
- Added glove and backpack slots for future update uses
Ceramic Appliances:
- Removed cobbled tech, X Cobbled Firepit | X Cobbled Couldron | Cobbled Bucket
- Added Ceramic Pot & Large Cermic Pot
- Takes on roles of cobbled couldron & bucket, the smaller one can be used as portable storage, you can also use it to boil items, or store or transport liquids by switching modes, it also adds 3 inventory slots to your inventory
- Place a ceramic appliance on a new firepit to bake them, you must leave them out to dry first or they will turn to rubble. Make ceramic pots with clay & rock debris which come from putting two rocks together in a crafting table. To use the new wooden firepit, which replaces the campfire, load it with timber (Axe + log = 4 timber -> 4 wooden boards -> 4 sticks or leaves) or another fuel item, place rocks in the middle, and put the items you want to process ontop, a large ceramic pot will occupy all slots, keep ceramic pots on the firepit to use them to cook food or boil water, boiling water kills pathegens which makes it safe to drink, the firepit can be made with 1 bundle of sticks and three timber, it places and occupies 2x2 blocks, it has heating properties like the campfire did, if you stand too close you may catch on fire or die, if you stand a few blocks away you can use it to keep warm in cold temperatures in the even you do not have proper PPE. It cannot burn in rain and may cause Co2 poisoniong indoors, in order to create a wooden couldron you can now place one 2 blocks away from the firepit to set it as the cobbled firepit has been removed
- Grass & Hide Beds have been added as an alternative to normal ones, you can make a grass bed with pulled grass and thatch, a hide bed requires processed hides but looks cool, I will be adding more decorative stone age items before moving onto The Bronze Age so that the player can have some fun decorating their base
- New Animals:
- Great White Sharks - Felt like the oceans were too empty? No problem, now this thing runs around and rips you to pieces, it circles boats and attacks them, it is fast and you won't outrun it, now you'll never want to go in the oceans at all (known bug - if player dies to shark amputation they will respawn with the wrong hand activated, reload the world to fix) - Can capsize boats and easily keep pace with them - Seagulls will flea great white sharks... use seagulls as a warning siren to avoid sharks, if you see their fins poking out it is highly reccomended that you do not approach them as they can easily kill you in full diamond and will sink your boat!
- Crabs - Spawn on warm beaches and ocean floors, currently useless and unfinished, will have food applications later
- Lobsters - Spawn in oceans, have 20HP, avoids confrontation, will attack and latch onto the player if the player touches one, will flee an encounter after being removed
- Desert Centipedes - Terrifying. Spawns in American deserts, runs, creepy, hostile, will chase you across the desert, has 20HP, spawns alone unlike ants, currently very common due to lack of wild life but will be reduced as more animals join the spawn pool in deserts
- Tuna - Unfinished mob that is currently in the active jar, will be a passive oceanic mob, current design is unfinished
- Beached kept and clams will now spawn on beaches, the clam model has been changed to look less flat
- As I said I will be adding more decorative items to the stone age tier before moving onto Bronze Age development, I also want the core biomes to feel complete so that I can do a first Stone Age release of the mod, after that I will be moving onto The Bronze Age
This mod has no additional files
