What's new

[This mod is in Beta, World Generation Is Rapidly Changing, worlds created on the current build will be outdated in later releases, which plan to use 1:1 Earth terrain generation, note that custom biomes are also largely incomplete and will be polished before the first official release, which may include new structures, texture changes, block additions, topography changes, and entity types] - VANILLA TOOL RECIPIES CURRENTLY DISABLED, REPLACEMENT SYSTEM WILL BE ADDED LATER

Gravesend Beta 32.8 Changelog:

You can now double tap shift to crawl! NPCs will be less likely to spot you while crawling!

Cavemen: Will spawn in groups around campfires, player can use campfires for warmth, spawns with clubs, will attack if provoked, male variants spawn armed, female variants flee mobs and foriage, spawns in temperate and cold biomes

Moon - Access with "/space moon", return to Earth with /space Earth or dying

The moon is a vacuum environment! You must wear a sealed spacesuit and have an oxygen tank in your inventory to survive on the moon! If your suit is punctured, you will have 10 seconds to seal the hole using a patch before you sucuumb to rapid and fatal decompression! A tier I space suit is required to survive on the moon.

Oxygen Barrels: Filled barrels can refill oxygen tanks, no refilling method has been added yet but a more in depth space system is planned when I return to lunar development.

Various Decoritive Blocks have been added which will be used for lunar structures later

  • Skitters - Small black lobster like creatures, live on the lunar surface, found in boulder fields, patches, and skitter nests. Incredibly dangerous, will ambush player in boulder fields, can puncture space suits and poison player. Inflicts bleeding III, best avoided or delt with from a distance. Drops food items that can be cooked.

Lunar Factions:

Axis Holdout - Remnant of the German Military that secretly escaped to the moon after WWII, patrols are hostile, neutral villages will be added for players to trade with later.

Axis Spacemen:
* Spawns in groups on the moon on the moon, they are armed with STG-44s and detect you by line of sight. Increasing distance decreases their odds of spotting you while crawling. They are highly lethal and can do as much damage to you as you can to them! They will spread out when shot at and begin approaching the player. They are hostile NPCs with as much health as the player in the same armor. Conversly, they are subject to any environmental effects you are!

More enemies planned.

Healing:

  • Medkit types now stop bleeding below V, more healing options planned for the future

Earth Biomes:

New Earth biomes have been added! A lot of these biomes are unfinished and will have new features added in the future! I am currently working on trying to make a 1:1 Earth generator system so that when the player spawns they will be allowed to choose their play environment for the Early game (and almost any space mod depicts the overworld as the Earth, so it makes sense)

[Appalachian Biome Types]

Appalachian Biome types have been added, they will spawn in temperate regions and contain several variants. There is the Appalachian Highland, the Cove, the Mountains, and Appalachia. The variants are largely similar and mostly pertain to terrain generation trends. Appalachia itself is more low lying and smooth whereas the other types are more hilly, the Appalachian Highland will spawn with more pine like trees, mountains can now extrend extrodinarily high due to increased build height (767)! You can see Applachian mountain types extending up towards Y700! Highlands will spawn are higher elevations while other Appalachian biome types will occupy lower-intermediate elevations. The cove will spawn with fewer trees and is intended to create a break in the treeline.

  • Appalachian Woodsman - NPC, neutral, armed with a pump action shotgun, shotguns are most effective at close range and lose punch the further out you are, shotgun hits cause incompacitation, the woodsman will spawn with his own house and will defend it from trespassers, he will spawn in Appalachian biomes
  • The Rake - Hostile supernatural entity that spawns in low lying Appalachian biomes, will stalk the player, kill livestock, and is extremely aggressive. The Rake is a rare spawn and prefers to attack at night. It will continiously stalk the player until losing patience and breaking into their house to kill them or they make eye contact and agro it. The rake is extremely fast and can close distance quickly. It is however not immortal, a player armed with a sword is likely to struggle against it but one with an SMG or STG should be able to handle it with good aim. It currently has 40HP and may be buffed later.
  • Wild Bores - Neutral Pig variants that spawn in Appalachian biomes, can be killed for pork, will fight back if attacked, has a larger and stockier build than normal pigs
  • Black Bears - Neutral Bear Type, spawns in Appalachian biomes, will not attack the player unless provoked, will flee gunshots
  • Oyster Mushrooms spawn in Appalachian biomes and are edible cooked or raw
  • New tree types!

Wild West:

Various Western Biomes have been added, which are based off the old American West, they currently contain no additional threats and function similarly to deserts however you can find water in them. There are canyons and shrublands, later mob & NPC types will be added. Canyons will appear that are taller than normal Minecraft badlands but not as tall as mountainious biome peaks. Western Biomes are currently counted seperated from American Desert Biomes because they spawn in in cooler temperature mappings.

American Desert Biomes:

Variopus American Desert biomes have been added, these are distinct from the Western Biomes and are based off California & Nevada biome types. The "Great American Desert" does not feature water spawns and is currently inhospitible due to that. Certain biomes will carry with them different challenges. At the moment these are largely aesthetic like the Western Biomes. There are also Nevada Desert types that can spawn with shrubs and trees. Both American Desert types do not spawn next to the previous Middle Eastern desert variants. New cactus types were also added. Impact with cactii will cause bleeding.

Grassland Variants:

  • Prerie Grassland - Spawns near temperature forests, smooth and hilly, contains grass types and safe drinking water
  • Dry Grassland - Spawns between preries and hot biomes, transitional zone, dryer look

Cold Biomes - Colder average temperatures, will still experience seasonal patterns

  • Coniferious Forest - Contains conifer trees, a coniferious mountain variant can spawn with tall imposing ice and snow covered peaks, mountains will cross blend between biomes, trees will gradually stop spawning as you go higher up, very aesthetic biome, grizzly bears can spawn here and are aggressive towards players and NPCs
  • Boreal Forest - Contains mixed northern tree types, grizzly bears, and cavemen, lower lying or hilly terrain, typically borders arctic biomes

Subarctic Biomes - Transitional Zone between cold and arctic biomes

  • Canadian Shield Forest - Features various northern tree types, trees will spawn in groupings and will appear to have varied density, ground covering will appear with bushes, moss types, and exposed stone, grizzly bears can spawn here and the biome typically prefers low lying terrain and hills, various smaller plant types will exist on the surface
  • Subarctic Woodland - Moss covers the surface, smoother terrain, grizzly bears, a shorter sparsly populated tree types, various plant types

Arctic Biomes - Below freezing average temperatures that can drop far below 0F, extremely inhospitible to players, currently completely inhospitble

  • Arctic Tundra - Snow covered flat plain, permafost replaces dirt, sparse plant coverage, no trees, frozen rivers, moss sparsly coats surface, rare polar bears, extremely inhospitible
  • Alpine Tundra - Mountanious Tundra, surface covered in stone, peramfrost, rare grass types, and gravel, impossible to survive in
  • Arctic Glacier - Rough icy surface, glaciers will spawn in valleys and cover the surface, can extend deep and are difficulty to cross, high mountain peaks can occur, currently inhospitible, ice flows can appear in nearby water

Subtropical Biomes:

  • Subtropical Hammock - Florida biome type, contains palm trees, various plants, and frogs
  • Everglades Marsh - Wetlands type biome that can spawn with different plant types, currently experiences plant gen issues in water, will be patched before first release
  • Wetlands - Spawns willow trees, dangerous deep mud, plant types, and water, currently classified as a temperate biome, will be changed to only spawn in low lying areas once topography system is reworked

The mod is currently not playeable in survival mode, various life support systems for extreme temperature conditions are not yet ready or added, and vanilla tool recipies are currently disabled. I am currently working on a custom worldgen system that will be based off the Earth, so survival elements and progression will not be worked on until after that's done, I'm just posting this jar as a progress update! Enjoy your exploration!
