Grapple & Bridge
Official Description and User Manual
Minecraft 1.21.11 - Fabric
You are not following the rules of this world. In this world, you are the rules themselves.
Host God Core - Make the host the one true god of the world.
The Overworld is yours to command. All things are yours to judge.
Welcome to the God Authority Group - Grapple & Bridge Division.
What Is Grapple & Bridge?
Grapple & Bridge is a movement and traversal mod designed to make crossing the Minecraft world dramatically faster, more flexible, and more entertaining.
The mod contains two main systems:
- a dual-mode grappling system built directly into the vanilla Fishing Rod;
- a Bridge Gun capable of instantly generating several types of safe, walkable bridges across gaps, valleys, water, cliffs, and uneven terrain.
No commands are required.
The goal is simple:
If there is somewhere you want to go, Grapple & Bridge gives you a way to get there.
1. Requirements
Grapple & Bridge requires:
- Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.11
- Fabric Loader
- Fabric API
- Java 21
The mod contains both client-side movement behavior and server-side world interaction and should therefore be installed on both the client and server when used in multiplayer.
2. Getting the Bridge Gun
The Bridge Gun is automatically provided to a player when joining a world or server if that player does not already have one in their inventory.
The Bridge Gun has a maximum stack size of one.
No command is required to obtain it during normal use.
3. Grappling System
The grappling system does not require a new grappling-hook item.
Instead:
A normal vanilla Fishing Rod becomes the grappling tool.
Hold a Fishing Rod in your main hand to use the grappling system.
The controls below refer to Minecraft's default mouse bindings.
4. Direct Grapple Mode
Control
Left Click while holding a Fishing Rod
This creates an anchor in the direction of the player's crosshair and rapidly pulls the player directly toward that anchor.
This mode is designed for:
- fast traversal;
- rapidly reaching high or distant locations;
- crossing gaps;
- escaping dangerous areas;
- quickly repositioning during combat or exploration.
The player is pulled toward the target in a fast, direct trajectory rather than swinging underneath the anchor.
When the player reaches the anchor, the grapple automatically releases.
5. Swing Grapple Mode
Control
Right Click while holding a Fishing Rod
This creates an anchor in the direction of the player's crosshair and activates Swing Mode.
Instead of pulling the player directly to the target, Swing Mode behaves more like a suspended rope.
The player can preserve and build momentum while moving around the anchor.
This mode is useful for:
- swinging across valleys;
- travelling around cliffs and structures;
- maintaining forward momentum;
- changing direction in mid-air;
- movement that feels closer to a Spider-style grappling system.
6. Grapple Range and Virtual Anchors
Both grapple modes have a maximum targeting distance of approximately:
96 blocks
If the grapple finds a block within that distance, that location becomes the anchor.
If no block is hit, the system creates a virtual anchor in the air at the maximum range.
This means the grappling system does not always require a physical ceiling, wall, tree, or other block to attach to.
You can therefore grapple through open areas and across large gaps even when there is no convenient physical anchor directly in front of you.
7. Reeling In the Rope
While using Swing Mode:
Hold Sneak / Shift
The rope is gradually shortened.
This pulls the player closer to the anchor and allows the player to increase the intensity and shape of the swing.
The rope cannot be shortened indefinitely; the system retains a minimum safe rope length.
8. Releasing the Grapple
Press Space
The grapple is released.
Importantly:
Current momentum is preserved.
The player is therefore not simply stopped in mid-air when the grapple is released.
A well-timed release can launch the player forward and can be used to chain movement across large distances.
Switching away from the Fishing Rod also releases an active grapple.
9. Grappling Quick Reference
Fishing Rod + Left Click
Direct high-speed grapple.
Fishing Rod + Right Click
Swing grapple.
Shift while swinging
Reel in / shorten the rope.
Space
Release the grapple while preserving momentum.
Maximum grapple targeting distance
Approximately 96 blocks.
10. Bridge Gun
The second major system in Grapple & Bridge is the Bridge Gun.
The Bridge Gun creates real Minecraft block structures directly in the world.
These bridges are not temporary visual effects.
They are actual walkable bridges designed to provide immediate terrain traversal.
11. Building a Bridge
Control
Right Click while holding the Bridge Gun
A bridge is generated forward from the player's current position.
The maximum bridge targeting distance is approximately:
128 blocks
When a valid target is detected, the bridge attempts to connect toward that target while respecting the bridge geometry rules.
If no target is hit, the bridge continues forward using the player's horizontal facing direction.
12. Switching Bridge Types
Control
Sneak / Shift + Right Click
This cycles through the five available bridge modes:
- Rope Bridge
- Wooden Bridge
- Solid Wooden Bridge
- Stone Bridge
- Obsidian Bridge
After the fifth mode, the selection cycles back to the first.
The selected bridge mode is shown through the in-game HUD.
13. Rope Bridge
Width
3 blocks
Main materials
- Spruce Planks
- Oak Fence
The Rope Bridge is a lighter bridge style intended for quick traversal while retaining side railings for safer movement.
14. Wooden Bridge
Width
3 blocks
Main materials
- Oak Planks
- Oak Fence
This is a simple, conventional wooden bridge designed for normal travel.
15. Solid Wooden Bridge
Width
5 blocks
Main materials
- Dark Oak Planks
- Dark Oak Fence
The Solid Wooden Bridge provides a wider walking surface and is better suited to larger routes or areas where more movement space is desirable.
16. Stone Bridge
Width
5 blocks
Main materials
- Stone Bricks
- Stone Brick Walls
The Stone Bridge provides a heavier permanent structure with a wide deck and solid side barriers.
17. Obsidian Bridge
Width
5 blocks
Main materials
- Obsidian
- Polished Blackstone Brick Walls
The Obsidian Bridge is the heaviest and most visually imposing bridge type currently included in the mod.
18. Bridge Geometry
Version 0.1.2 contains an extensively revised bridge-generation system designed around one priority:
The bridge should actually be comfortable to walk across.
When firing into open air, the bridge does not follow the vertical pitch of the crosshair.
Instead, it follows the player's horizontal facing projection.
This prevents the Bridge Gun from accidentally creating:
- giant staircases into the sky;
- bridges diving into the ground;
- unusable structures caused by small vertical aiming errors.
19. Bridges Across Elevation Changes
When the Bridge Gun detects a real target at a different elevation, the bridge is allowed to rise or descend.
However, the maximum slope is limited to approximately:
1 block of vertical change for every 6 blocks of bridge length.
This prevents extreme slopes and keeps bridges reasonably walkable.
20. Diagonal Bridges
The bridge surface uses high-density sampling and duplicate-position filtering.
This prevents diagonal bridges from turning into disconnected parkour-style block patterns.
The bridge deck is intended to remain continuous even when travelling diagonally across the Minecraft block grid.
21. Railings
Bridge railings automatically follow:
- both sides of the bridge;
- the current height of the bridge deck;
- changes in bridge elevation.
The railings are generated together with the bridge rather than remaining at a fixed height while the bridge rises or falls.
22. Existing Terrain and Blocks
The Bridge Gun only places bridge blocks into positions that are currently air.
It does not intentionally replace existing solid blocks.
This allows bridges to interact with terrain without simply erasing everything in their path.
However, the generated bridge is still a permanent world modification.
Always use caution around builds or terrain that you want to preserve.
23. Aiming Restrictions
The Bridge Gun is designed for forward traversal.
If the player aims almost directly upward or downward, the system may refuse to generate a bridge.
Aim generally forward when building.
If the target is extremely close, bridge generation may also be cancelled because there is not enough distance to create a useful structure.
24. Bridge Gun Quick Reference
Right Click
Generate the currently selected bridge.
Shift + Right Click
Switch bridge mode.
Maximum bridge range
Approximately 128 blocks.
Open-air shot
Bridge follows horizontal facing direction.
Real target at another elevation
Bridge may slope toward the target, limited to approximately one vertical block per six blocks of length.
Recommended Combination
Grapple & Bridge works completely on its own.
However, for a more complete movement and combat experience, I recommend combining it with:
Sword Qi - God Authority Group
Sword Qi adds long-range sword combat, multiple Sword Qi forms, special sword abilities, advanced Netherite Sword controls, and large-scale attacks.
Grapple & Bridge provides the movement and terrain-traversal system that complements Sword Qi particularly well.
Together, the two mods allow players to rapidly reposition, cross terrain, fight in the air, approach distant targets, and move through combat environments far more freely than with ordinary Minecraft movement.
Sword Qi is optional and is not required for Grapple & Bridge to function.
YDM's Weapon Master
For an even cooler visual experience, YDM's Weapon Master is also recommended.
It improves the way weapons are visually displayed on the player and works particularly well when used together with Grapple & Bridge and Sword Qi.
YDM's Weapon Master is completely optional.
Grapple & Bridge does not include or redistribute YDM's Weapon Master.
Please download YDM's Weapon Master separately from its original creator's official project page.

Three separate mods, each fully usable on its own, but especially fun when used together.
Language Notice
The current release contains Simplified Chinese in some in-game HUD and status messages.
The core gameplay itself is not language-dependent.
Additional English localization may be added in a future update.
Current Development Status
Grapple & Bridge is currently considered feature-complete in its present form.
This release represents the latest completed version of the mod, and there are currently no known unfinished features specifically waiting to be completed.
However, this does not mean that development has permanently ended.
Future updates may still be released if new ideas, improvements, compatibility changes, bug fixes, or additional features are developed later.
In short:
The mod is complete in its current form, but its future remains open.
Current Notes and Limitations
Grapple & Bridge significantly changes player movement and can generate large permanent structures in a very short time.
Players should be aware that:
- high-speed grappling can produce very rapid movement;
- releasing a grapple preserves momentum and may cause fall or collision damage depending on where the player lands;
- bridges permanently modify the world;
- very long bridges can place a large number of blocks at once;
- interactions with other movement, physics, or terrain-altering mods may produce unexpected behavior;
- multiplayer behavior may depend on network conditions and other installed mods.
Back up important worlds before experimenting extensively with large-scale world modification.
