This mod adds the new item fishing net that can be thrown at enemies (and friends), can be placed in the water to catch fish and more!
It is possible to apply some baits to the placed nets: right click them with fishmeal to attract fishes. Nets are 16% faster with 1 application, 33% with 2, and 50% with 3, that is they take half time to get full.
Fishmeal can be obtained by cooking cooked fish, cooked salmon, pufferfish or clownfish in the furnace.

Ok the version 1.7.1 is finally out!
There are some new features :
You can use a water bucket to get a fish bucket from a net if there is a fish in the net. (Only vanilla fish bucket are supported for now)
Items and fishes that go into a net are caught! And will be dropped when harvested.
When you throw a net to a mob, it will attack you, so beware spiders that are not slowed down.
You can get drops from a net using hoppers.
Nets generate redstone signals based on how many items they contain, proportionally from 0 when empty to 15 when full.
Fishmeal and bonemeal can make net faster to get a fish: with 0 the average time is 8 min, with 3 is 4 min.
Applying the bait has a 50% chance of success.
Fisherman profession trades emealds for fishes.
TODO:
A config file with all parameters: speed, success rate, max number of items, hopper enabled, max bait count, ecc...
Drowned should destroy nets to make things more interesting.

I have seen that even fences do not behave well with flowing liquids so I would skip this point for now.
Have you tried throwing and placing? It seems to me that they are functional enough, or not?
Does this mod work with other mods that add fish to the game? such as pams harvest craft?

I'm doing the update to mc version 1.16.3.
Mod version 1.7.0 alpha.
Placing harvesting and throwing are the features to test in this alpha.
A new feature implemented is the ability to get fish bucket using the water bucket on a not empty net.
Another feature implemented is that mobs hit by a net now get angry and attack if they are hostile or panic if they are passive.
There are problems with flowing fluids that changed heavily since mc 1.12... I'm working on it.
For now nets give no drops and fish count is random when placed.
todo:
Make them work correctly with flowing fluids.
Make them fill up over time when placed in water.
Make them drop fishes and stuff.
Add loot tables specific for nets. For now the fishing ones are used.
Implement automatism with hoppers and redstone.
Make baits work and automate baits with dispenser.

Could it be possible for the nets to be automated, via itemducts or other such item transport methods? Would make it much easier to get fish out of the nets.

I like this mod. I use it to the 1.11.2.
I was hoping this mod would allow me to replace my AFK fish farm with something a little more immersive. And it has! For anyone else with the same questions as me, here are the answers.
1. Yes, you can get enchanted books with this! Anything you could get in a vanilla fishing rod, you can get in these nets.
2. Yes, you can automate them! Pistons will break the net, and dispensers will throw it.
3. No, they don't work with hoppers. I'm fine with this, honestly, as the break-and-replace logic makes for a more interesting automation problem.
4. No, they don't work with comparators. At least, I think they don't. Comparators normally work with a one-block wall between themselves and the inventory they're reading from, but that doesn't work here. I couldn't test with a comparator right next to the net because then the comparator would be underwater.
4. No, you can't automate the bait. Dispensers don't place it, and they don't accept it automatically if it's dropped on top.
Comparator support would be nice, but otherwise I have to say this is a great balanced replacement for AFK fishing.
please can you change the recipe because its has a conflict with the wool ball of mo creatures
