Explore the Ghosty Woods, raid the Ghosty Temple, and survive the rare maze-like Ghosty House and its Ghosty Hands
Quickstart
- Head to a Ghosty Woods biome in your Overworld — a pale, spectral forest is the telltale sign you've found one.
- Explore the woods to stumble across a small Ghosty Temple structure guarded by a lone Ghost.
- Keep exploring — very rarely you'll find a much larger Ghosty House, a sprawling maze structure patrolled by the far tougher Ghosty Hands.
- Punch or mine the unique blocks (Ghosty Log, Ghosty Stone, Ghosty Soil, Spectral Grass, etc.) to collect building materials as souvenirs, or just admire the area.
- If you want to summon a Ghost yourself instead of hunting for one, grab a Ghost Spawn Egg from the Spawn Eggs tab in Creative inventory and use it on the ground.
Overview
Ghosty Temple adds a haunted new biome, two spooky structures to raid, and two undead guardians to fight. Venture into the Ghosty Woods to find a modest Ghosty Temple ruin, or take your chances searching for the far rarer Ghosty House — a sprawling wooden maze full of dead ends, hidden doorways, and a hostile guardian that hunts anyone who wanders too close.
What It Adds
Biome
- Ghosty Woods — a spectral forest biome that generates in the Overworld, home to eerie flora and both structures below.
Blocks
| Block | Notes |
|---|---|
| Ghosty Soil | Soft ground block found under and around Ghosty House and across Ghosty Woods |
| Ghosty Stone | Tough stone used in temple and house construction |
| Ghosty Log | Wood log from the biome's trees |
| Ghosty Planks | Milled planks used as flooring |
| Ghosty Leaves | Pale, semi-transparent tree foliage |
| Spectral Grass | Decorative ghostly ground cover, instantly breakable |
| Ghosty House Wall | The maze walls of the Ghosty House |
All of these blocks drop themselves when broken and can be picked up and placed like ordinary building blocks.
Structures
- Ghosty Temple — a small stone ruin with a single guarding Ghost. Common enough to find while exploring Ghosty Woods.
- Ghosty House — a large, rare maze-like structure built from planks, stone, and house walls, ringed by Ghosty Soil. Winding corridors and scattered doorways make it easy to get lost. One Ghosty Hands guardian patrols the interior.
Mobs
| Mob | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Ghost | A zombie-like undead guardian found at Ghosty Temples. Attacks on sight, never burns in daylight. |
| Ghosty Hands | A much larger, stronger undead guardian bound to the Ghosty House. Hunts intruders relentlessly but will lose interest and stop chasing if you get far enough from the house. Also immune to daylight burning. |
Items
- Ghost Spawn Egg — found in the Spawn Eggs creative tab, spawns a Ghost when used.
- Block items for every block listed above, found in the Natural and Building Blocks creative tabs.
How To Use
- Finding the content: All structures and mobs are tied to the Ghosty Woods biome. Travel until you find its distinct pale trees and grass, then explore on foot — temples are common, houses are rare.
- Fighting Ghosts: A Ghost behaves like a fast zombie. It targets and chases players and does not burn in sunlight, so don't expect it to die on its own during the day.
- Surviving Ghosty Hands: This guardian is much stronger and faster than a Ghost and will chase you through the maze. If you run far enough away from the house's center, it will give up the chase and stand down — use distance as an escape tool if you get overwhelmed.
- Navigating the Ghosty House: The maze is built from walls, floors, and scattered doorways. There is no guaranteed path — take note of dead ends and backtrack carefully to avoid running into Ghosty Hands repeatedly.
- Collecting materials: Mine any of the Ghosty-themed blocks with an appropriate tool (or by hand for soft ones like Spectral Grass and Ghosty Soil) to add them to your inventory for building.
Crafting And Obtaining
There are no crafting recipes for this content — all blocks and the spawn egg are obtained by mining/looting them from the world or, in Creative mode, by pulling them directly from the Natural, Building Blocks, and Spawn Eggs inventory tabs.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Daylight immunity: Both Ghost and Ghosty Hands are undead but never burn in sunlight, so they remain active threats around the clock.
- Leashed aggression (Ghosty Hands): Ghosty Hands is anchored to the house it spawned in. It will pursue players that come near, but breaks off pursuit once they retreat far enough from the house's center — making the guardian dangerous inside the maze but avoidable outside it.
- Structure rarity: Ghosty Temples are a relatively common sight in Ghosty Woods, while the Ghosty House is intentionally rare — treat finding one as a special event worth preparing for before engaging.
Progression And Strategy
- Start by clearing easier Ghosty Temples to get comfortable fighting a single Ghost and to farm Ghosty Stone and Planks.
- Bring decent armor and weapons before attempting a Ghosty House — Ghosty Hands hits much harder and moves faster than a regular Ghost.
- Use the maze layout to your advantage: lure Ghosty Hands into a dead end, or retreat toward the outer edge of the house to make it disengage if a fight goes badly.
- Collect the unique wood and stone variants while exploring to build your own Ghosty-themed structures back home.
