👻 Ghosts Fabric Port

A cute, spooky, unofficial compatibility port of Ghosts for newer Minecraft versions.

This project brings friendly spectral companions, seedling ghosts, Kodamas, haunted trees, and cozy forest magic to Minecraft 26.1.2 on Fabric.

This is not an official release from the original Ghosts team.

All original ideas, code, art, textures, models, animations, sounds, mobs, blocks, and haunted little vibes belong to their original creators.
This port exists only to help keep the mod playable on newer Minecraft/Fabric versions while staying as close as possible to the original behavior.

✨ Features

👻 Ghosts

Spawn in forests at night.
Can be tamed with glow berries.
Can carry items for their owner.
Place torches, copper torches, and lanterns in dark areas.
Can use a Totem of Undying on behalf of their owner.
Can remove enchantments from enchanted items and reward XP.
Flee when hurt, just like a nervous little spirit should.

🌱 Seedling Ghosts

Spawn in forests at night.
Pick up dropped saplings.
Plant saplings when they find valid ground.
Bury themselves at night in valid grass or dirt blocks.
Keep their sprout animated while sleeping underground.
Wake up during the day or escape when damaged.

🍃 Kodamas

Mysterious little forest spirits.
Trade random saplings for amethyst shards.
Can give haunted saplings, which grow into haunted trees.

🌲 Haunted Trees

Grow from haunted saplings.
Can contain haunted eye blocks.
Add a soft, eerie forest atmosphere.

👁️ Haunted Eye Blocks

Detect nearby entities.
Work with comparators to output redstone based on entity distance.

🛠️ Port Changes

This Fabric port includes several compatibility and behavior fixes:

Restored manual GeckoLib glow rendering behavior.
Fixed Iris shader warnings related to GeckoLib emissive pipelines.
Improved ghost translucency and glow behavior.
Preserved opaque rendering for accessories, mushrooms, armor, and sprouts.
Reworked seedling ghost burrowing so they reliably find valid ground.
Prevented multiple seedling ghosts from occupying the same burrow.
Removed unused glow berry feeding from seedling ghosts and Kodamas.
Added support for ghosts placing copper torches and lanterns.
Updated ghost hurt behavior so normal ghosts flee properly.

🧪 Status

This is an experimental compatibility port.

It has been tested locally for startup, resource loading, entity spawning, ghost interactions, Kodama behavior, seedling ghost behavior, rendering, burrowing, item placement, and selected survival mechanics.

Please report crashes, missing textures, or behavior differences with logs and clear reproduction steps.
