Description

What is Genetic Playground?

Genetic Playground is a NeoForge 1.21.1 mod made for the Curseforge Future Modjam 2025, it adds Genetic Engineering to the game with a large amount of machines, materials, decor, energy generators and of course; genes which can be injected into yourself or other mobs to change some epic stuff! Scroll down for more indepth descriptions of the mod.

 

This mod is currently in beta and has been released early (before all features could be added) due to the Modjam's submission date. Please expect bugs, and if bugs are found please report them in the bug reports channel of my discord serverPlease note, that the mod has not been tested in multiplayer nor with other mods so it is unknown how it will act with other mods or on servers. If you encounter a incompatability with another mod or if the mod fails to run on a server please report in the bug reports channel of my discord server.

 

⚠ Getting syringes, cells, DNA or plasmids from the creative inventory will currently not work as they use NBT tags from the mob that said blood was taken from. Currently in Version 1.0.0 you have to take the blood from one of the supported mobs and do the whole process, sorry for inconvinence. ⚠

Current & Planned Features

Due to the time limit given for the CurseForge modjam, not all planned features have been added yet, nor has compatability for every mob in the game been added yet, which will be added in a later update. 

 

Planned features include a survival craftable mob spawner (which will use alot of energy), a way to change your character model into different mobs, more decoration, fusion power and vaccines (which will stop any effects whilst active), and possibly plant/crop genetics.

 

Not all mobs are currently supported due to the time limit I had although you can see the current supported mob list below, support for mobs will slowly be added each update;

Energy production and transportation. 

Genetic Playground also comes with a 3 ways to produce energy; Solar energy (start game), heat generators (mid game) and fission power plants (late game) with fusion planned but not added yet due to the lack of need for absurd amounts of FE at the current moment in time.

 

Genetic Playground also adds 3 cable tiers; Aluminiun (5kFE/t), Gold (50kFE/t) and Netherite (boasting a whopping 500kFE/t). We however do suggest using a different mod for cables though as the energy loss for long cable networks from this mod is kind of absurd and if I say so myself, not the best system.

Fission Reactor multiblock

 

Materials

Genetic Playground adds a large amount of materials like Lead, Uranium, Aluminium and Unknown alloy. Each used for their own respective things, (however lead, uranium and unknown alloys are kind of only useful for nuclear fission at the moment.) With aluminium being needed for pretty much every machine in the mod.

 

This mod as of Release Version 1.0.0 does not add any armour set or tool set from modded materials and this is unlikely to change. 

Bauxite/Aluminium and Lead both found in the overworld, Uranium can be found in the Nether and Unknown alloy is a alloy of uranium and Netherite Scrap

 

Decor

Genetic Playground also adds a large variation of lab-based decor from dyeable strobe lights, sirens and lab bricks.

 

Lab bricks and wallls can be made with diorite and quartz and come in 5 variations; Bricks, Wall, Borderless, Tiles and Cracked. This mod also adds biohazard and warning signs which you can cycle through colours by right clicking on them, a siren which can play 3 different alarm chimes (which is cycled by right clicking), and dyeable strobe lights which flash when powered with redstone!

All the decor blocks in this mod (excluding each dye variation of the Strobe lights)

Slabs, stairs and doors are also planned in a future update.
