What's new

0.2.5

The altar, cleared out

  • The altar now draws veil light from the veil itself, not from the plants around it — it gathers wherever it stands, on bare rock as well as in a meadow
  • Only three attachments remain, one of each kind: the veil crystal (a diamond steeped by the altar) holds the light, the witch dagger reaches further, the candelabra carries it out
  • The candelabra was rebuilt from scratch — turned shaft, curved arms, three candles with wicks — and now asks for candles, gold and silver nuggets
  • Both ritual chalks redrawn: real sticks of chalk with a worn tip and dust falling from them

Feel

  • The path to the kobold pact is shorter: five moonbreads instead of eight
  • The kobold no longer vanishes to hand you something. He picks it up, walks over, and presses it into your hand — with sparks and a word
  • Mushroom rings no longer spawn in water
  • The chapter that opens with the moonbread is called "The Guest" now, with a moonbloom on its cover — it no longer gives away who comes at night before you have seen him

0.2.4 — Finetuning Fae Magic)

New tools of the craft

  • Silver arrows: the same point, only flown — four from nugget, stick and feather
  • Veil shards as a craftable throwing weapon (four from a shard and fae dust), with their own look
  • The voodoo doll (formerly the wasting poppet): hold and release to shove the target where you look; with a trace needle in your offhand the grip squeezes instead; thrown into water it drowns its creature, into fire it burns it — 15 s cooldown
  • Two new hexes: Numb Tongue (villagers refuse to trade) and Slippery Hands (your tool escapes you now and then); the wrathful fae picks one at random, absolution lifts them all
  • The candelabra: three candles on a golden arm — the new pinnacle of light on the altar (the torch was never worthy)

Fixes & feel

  • Witch heart hunting now has hunter's luck: every heartless witch adds 2% until one drops — a hunt, not a gamble
  • A waiting fae no longer loses her patience to a world reload (and hearts still call her after the last lesson — she comes to collect)
  • Five silent rituals now sound and show their work; gems rest on the altar as cut octahedrons; block attachments stand as real models
  • The needle work now leads you step by step: the first bound needle opens the poppets, the first sewn poppet opens shelf and crystal ball
  • Every ritual names its cost; the book explains kettle essences, smelting, sowing, drying, mud, and all altar attachments
  • Silver arrows can finally be shot from a bow (they were missing from the arrows tag)
  • German unlock toasts no longer overflow their frame
  • The witch huts now keep a herb garden in their fenced yard: one of each herb that grows on land — sage, mandrake, belladonna, aconite, moonbloom
  • The witch tree: a mighty dead tree with a skull on its highest branch — and beneath its roots, the tomb of a witch who picked a fight with a nature god and lost. Her chalk sign, her skull on a plinth, her candles, and a barrel that does not always hold the weathered book. Locatable, rare in forests, taigas and swamps
  • Poison essence now comes from dried belladonna; mud works as bone meal; compass, source stone and recall are gated creative test tools
