Adds small hiragana readings above kanji to make Japanese text easier to read in Minecraft.

Readings are generated automatically from a bundled dictionary, without a translation pack containing prewritten furigana.

From a friendly message to a familiar menu

Readings can follow everyday Japanese across supported chat, signs, menus, item descriptions and entity labels. No need to write furigana into every message or translation file.

Features

• Readings in supported menus, item tooltips, buttons, and chat, as well as entity names and floating text.
• Original text, colors, formatting, and click/hover actions are preserved.
• Adjustable reading size and fonts. The default reading size is 50%.
• Offline operation: displayed text is not sent to an external service.

Client-side only. Available for NeoForge and Fabric. Choose a file that matches your Minecraft version and mod loader in Files. Fabric requires Fabric API; Mod Menu is optional for opening the settings screen. The download is about 78 MB because the dictionary is included.

Make it comfortable to read

Adjust the reading size and font to suit you. Shown at the default 50%. / ルビの大きさやフォントを自分好みに。画像は既定の50%です。

Open Mods → ふりがなMOD → configuration. The settings screen uses Japanese labels.

• 自動ルビ toggles readings; ルビの大きさ changes their size.
• Leave 本文フォント empty to keep the original body font. ルビのフォント selects the font used for readings; an empty field uses automatic selection on Windows and Linux. You can also specify an installed TTF, TTC, or OTF file. 字体 selects a face in a font collection.
• Press 適用 to save changes.

To correct a word or name, add it to config/autofurigana/dictionary.json:

An empty reading hides that word's furigana. After editing, press 辞書を読み直す in the settings screen.

Limitations

Automatic readings can be wrong, particularly for names and words with several pronunciations. Some unknown words may remain without readings. This mod does not translate text.

Custom screens with tightly spaced or fixed layouts may show overlapping or clipped readings. Text inside images and some custom or rotated text renderers are not supported. Compatibility with other text-layout or furigana mods has not been verified.

macOS has not been tested. Automatic font selection is implemented for Windows and Linux; other environments require manually selecting an installed Japanese-capable font.

Feedback and credits

Report issues in this project's comments. Include the affected text, mod and Minecraft versions, operating system, and a screenshot when useful.

Uses Sudachi, SudachiDict Core, jdartsclone, and javax.json. Their licenses and notices are included in META-INF/licenses/. The mod's own code is All Rights Reserved. Font files are not bundled.

ふりがなMOD

漢字の上にふりがなを添えて、Minecraftの日本語を読みやすくします。同梱の辞書から読みを自動で調べるため、ふりがなを書き込んだ翻訳パックは不要です。

漢字を勉強中のお子さんと、一緒にMinecraftを楽しむときにもご活用ください。

チャットから、いつものメニューまで

上の画像は、森の家で交わすチャット、正面から見た看板、タイトル画面、設定画面です。対応する表示なら、メッセージや翻訳ファイルへ一つずつ読みを書き込まなくても、自動でふりがなが付きます。

できること

• 対応するメニュー、アイテム説明、ボタン、チャット、エンティティの名前や空中の文字にふりがなを表示します。
• 元の本文や色、装飾、クリック・ホバー操作を保ちます。
• ふりがなの大きさやフォントを調整できます。大きさの既定値は50%です。
• オフラインで動作し、表示された文章を外部サービスへ送信しません。

クライアント専用で、NeoForgeとFabricに対応します。Filesから、お使いのMinecraftのバージョンとMODローダーに合うファイルを選んでください。Fabric版は Fabric API が必要です。Mod Menu は任意で、設定画面を開くために使えます。辞書を同梱するため、ダウンロードは約78 MBです。

読みやすさを自分好みに

Mods → ふりがなMOD → 設定 から開きます。設定画面の表示は日本語です。

• 自動ルビで有効・無効を、ルビの大きさで表示サイズを変更します。
• 本文フォントは空欄で元のまま。ルビのフォントはWindows・Linuxでは空欄で自動選択します。インストール済みのTTF・TTC・OTFファイルも指定できます。字体はフォントコレクション内の字体を選ぶ設定です。
• 適用で変更を保存します。

言葉や名前の読みを直したい場合は、config/autofurigana/dictionary.json に追加します。

読みを空文字にすると、その言葉のふりがなを非表示にできます。編集後、設定画面の辞書を読み直すを押してください。

制約

自動判定のため、名前や複数の読み方がある言葉を読み間違えることがあります。未知の言葉には、ふりがなが付かない場合もあります。翻訳機能はありません。

行間が狭い独自画面や、位置が固定された表示では、ふりがなが重なったり切れたりする場合があります。画像の中の文字や、一部の独自描画・回転した文字には対応していません。他の文字レイアウト・ふりがなMODとの併用は未検証です。

macOSは未検証です。フォントの自動選択はWindows・Linuxに対応し、それ以外の環境ではインストール済みの日本語フォントを手動で指定する必要があります。
