Fundamentals 0.12.0
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
- Siderite: clay ironstone and blackband beds in the Coal Measures, sparry iron in the mountains. Roast it before it goes in the bloomery.
- Chlor-alkali: brine on a titanium anode coated with ruthenium and iridium gives chlorine, caustic soda and hydrogen. Aluminium by Bayer and Hall-Héroult, with red mud and cryolite. Alumina spark plugs with iridium or platinum tips.
- Nickel: carbon gives ferronickel for stainless; pure nickel from the matte leach or the Mond carbonyl process; cobalt off the nickel refinery. Nickel carbonyl is lethal unmasked, nickel dusts hurt, and roasting sulfides gives off SO2.
- Rare earths: a hot acid roast that keeps thorium in the residue, sulfate to carbonate to chloride, a cerium concentrate from bastnäsite, europium parted with zinc. Real Dy-NdFeB and Sm2Co17 magnet ratios.
- Titanium pipes, pumps, valves and tanks, and plastic now softens past 110 °C. Magnetic separation runs faster cold, by Curie's law.
- Tungsten through APT, a CMSX-4 superalloy with an MCrAlY coat, rhenium through perrhenate, lithium by the acid roast.
- Real dopants (phosphorus and boron), mercury in fluorescent lamps, argon bulbs, ferromanganese and Hadfield steel, galvanized steel, HCl fumes, bromine eats plastic, real jungle and desert temperatures.
- Liquid properties: every fluid has real density, viscosity, freezing, boiling and flash points. Water freezes in cold pipes, open basins boil off, flammable spills catch fire, thick fluids pump slower.
- Temperature now comes from Fundamentals: Principles, bundled in the jar.
- Optional Chemica support: one shared set of chemicals, and Chemica's ores and metals replaced by ours.
