# Fudu Flora 0.1.6 — Scholar Stones & Natural Gardens
Minecraft 1.20.1 · Forge · Java 17
Version 0.1.6 brings modular Chinese garden rocks, natural generation for the mod's trees and garden plants, more distinctive foliage, weathered wood textures, and shorter hanging vines beneath trellises.
## Modular Taihu Stones and Rockery Presets
- Added four modular stones: **Taihu Peak Stone, Taihu Ledge Stone, Taihu Pierced Stone, and Taihu Belly Stone**.
- Place stones individually, rotate them, or mix them into larger arrangements. Adjacent modules connect horizontally and vertically, and connections update when a neighboring stone is removed.
- Peak and Pierced Stones are two blocks tall; Ledge and Belly Stones are one block tall. Sneak and right-click with an empty hand to rotate a stone.
- Added three craftable rockery presets: **Listening Spring, Layered Peaks, and Winding Shore**. Place a complete arrangement, then edit its stones individually. Dismantling returns the component stones.
- Preset placement checks the required space and support. Blocked placements are canceled without consuming the item or leaving a partial rockery.
- Use ordinary Stone in a Stonecutter to make any of the four base modules, one stone per module.
## Moss During Thunderstorms
- Exposed stones gradually grow moss through random ticks during thunderstorms.
- Four visual stages range from clean stone to dense moss coverage.
- Ordinary rain, clear weather, and fully sheltered conditions do not increase moss. Moss is saved and retained when a stone is collected and placed again.
## Natural Tree Generation
Thirteen tree variants now appear sparsely among vanilla trees in existing biomes. No additional biomes or addon mods are required.
- **Forest and Flower Forest:** Ginkgo, Plane, Scholar Tree, Zelkova, Golden Rain, Crape Myrtle, Magnolia, Golden Osmanthus, and Silver Osmanthus.
- **Birch Forest and Old Growth Birch Forest:** mostly White Poplar, with occasional Ginkgo.
- **Jungle and Sparse Jungle:** Banyan, Camphor, and Flamboyant.
All tree variants share a sparse placement budget and check soil, water, terrain, nearby trunks, and obstacles. Large Ginkgo and Banyan trees have a low chance to appear where sufficiently flat, open ground is available. Ordinary trees retain a single-block trunk.
## Natural Flowers, Shrubs, and Climbers
Added natural sources for the existing **11 herbaceous flower variants, 10 shrub variants, and 3 climbers**, distributed in small patches across 15 vanilla biomes.
- **Open grasslands:** Carnations, purple/white/yellow Marigolds, and Daylilies.
- **Temperate woodlands:** Cyclamen, Loropetalum, Pittosporum, Privet, and blue/pink/white Hydrangeas.
- **Warm jungles:** Moth Orchids, Peace Lilies, Clivias, Duranta, Fagraea, Weeping Fig, and Gardenia.
- **Meadows, riverbanks, and dry ground in swamps:** purple and blue Irises.
- **Climbers:** Wisteria and Climbing Rose favor temperate woodlands, while Trumpet Vine favors warmer areas. They generate against real logs or suitable natural rock faces; Wisteria uses wooden supports. Short hanging shoots may appear beneath nearby branches.
Each plant has its own biome pool. Post-generation support checks remove invalid plants if later neighboring terrain decoration changes their ground, preventing stranded halves of double-height flowers.
## Short Flowers from Grass Bone Meal
- Using Bone Meal on Grass Blocks can now produce **Peace Lilies, Cyclamen, Purple Irises, and Blue Irises** alongside vanilla vegetation.
- Only flowers at or below one block in height enter this pool. Tall flowers, shrubs, and climbers are excluded.
- Vanilla grass and flower generation remains active, and normal Survival use still consumes one Bone Meal.
## Shorter Hanging Vines Beneath Trellises
- Wisteria, Climbing Rose, and Trumpet Vine hanging beneath wooden or bamboo trellis roofs and beams now stop at a fixed, randomly determined length of **one or two blocks per column**, including the first block beneath the support.
- Natural growth and Bone Meal use the same limit. Repeated fertilizing or reloading the world does not reroll it.
- Horizontal spreading and normal wall climbing remain available. Existing overlong vines are preserved; remove their extra lower segments to bring future growth under the new limit.
## Texture and Information Updates
- Replaced the shared foliage patterns for Crape Myrtle, Magnolia, Hydrangea, and Gardenia with distinct leaf shapes, veins, and branching patterns, visible in both flowering and non-flowering forms.
- Updated related shrub icons and Crape Myrtle/Magnolia fallen and dry leaves: 32 native 16×16 textures in total.
- Added subtle, irregular weathering to all 12 plank textures. Stairs, slabs, fences, and other components using those textures inherit the changes.
- Updated the author and bug-report information shown on the mod information page.
## Survival Acquisition Tips
- **Scholar Stones:** ordinary Stone → Stonecutter → base stone modules. Craft rockery presets from their component modules.
- **Fallen and Dry Leaves:** leave an unobstructed landing space beneath foliage and wait for random ticks. Break the litter to collect it; fallen leaves gradually become the matching dry leaves.
- **Nutrient-rich Farmland:** allow dry leaves to enrich ordinary Dirt or a Grass Block, clear the litter, and use a hoe on the resulting Nutrient-rich Dirt. Breaking the farmland still drops ordinary Dirt.
Leaf litter and nutrient soil retain their existing mechanics. This release adds the missing natural plant sources and verifies these Survival acquisition paths.
## Updating an Existing World
**Natural generation affects newly generated chunks only. Existing chunks are not repopulated.** You can continue using your current world; explore areas that have not previously generated to find the new vegetation. Update both client and server, keeping only one Fudu Flora JAR on each side.
Validated with 112 behavior tests, 24,889 model checks, new-chunk generation checks, and saved-world reload checks.
