What's new
**Fudu Flora 0.1.5 — Climbing Gardens**
Minecraft 1.20.1 · Forge · Java 17
This release introduces nine plant types with twelve planting variants, wooden and bamboo trellises, climbing and hanging growth, and natural grass recovery for nutrient-rich dirt.
**New Plants**
- **Wisteria:** climbing foliage with hanging purple flower clusters.
- **Climbing Rose:** pink flowers among leafy stems, suitable for walls, fences and trellises.
- **Trumpet Vine:** orange trumpet-shaped flowers for walls and overhead garden structures.
- **Hydrangeas:** blue, pink and white flowering shrubs.
- **Gardenia:** deep green foliage with scattered white flowers.
- **Irises:** purple and blue varieties with upright, sword-shaped leaves, approximately one block tall.
- **Daylily:** orange flowers above a clump of long leaves, approximately one and a half blocks tall.
- **Crape Myrtle:** a compact tree with pink flower clusters near its branch tips.
- **Magnolia:** spreading branches accented by large, pale flowers.
Crape Myrtle and Magnolia include saplings, logs, planks, regular leaves and flowering leaves. Saplings grow naturally or with bone meal. Only part of each crown flowers; these trees retain the existing obstruction protection and do not cycle their flowering leaves through random ticks. The new Hydrangea and Gardenia shrubs remain shrubs when fertilized.
**Wooden and Bamboo Trellises**
- Added posts, beams and roof lattices in both materials: six components for building garden arches and covered walkways.
- Wooden components use Sticks; bamboo components use this mod's Bamboo Poles.
- Three materials in a vertical line craft four posts; three in a horizontal line craft four beams. Five materials in the corners and center craft two roof lattices.
- Included crafting recipes and recipe-book unlocks.
**Climbing and Hanging Growth**
- Plant climbers on soil beside a suitable wall, post or fence, or attach them directly to a supported wall or trellis.
- Vines can climb posts, continue along beams and spread beneath roof lattices. Vines and thin trellis supports can occupy the same block space, improving transitions between vertical and horizontal growth.
- All three climbers can also be planted on the underside of a suitable overhead support and grow downward, similar to cave vines.
- Random ticks advance growth and flowering. Bone meal first encourages flowering, then extends connected shoots; it can be applied at the ground root to reach growing tips.
- New shoots inherit their parent's current flowering state. Each bone meal use advances at most one growth segment and does not create additional support blocks.
- Growth paths have a saved twelve-step reach limit. Vines require support and clear space, respect obstacles, and update when their support is removed.
**Harvesting, Pots and Flower Arrangements**
- Added shears harvesting, bone meal interactions, flower-pot support and matching dye recipes for the new plants.
- Irises and Daylilies include flowering and non-flowering forms. Harvesting flowers leaves the plant behind; bone meal restores its blooms.
- Hydrangeas and Gardenia naturally flower and fade, and support harvesting with shears.
- All twelve new flower variants work in the five existing vase styles, bringing vase support to twenty-nine flower types. Vases still hold up to four matching or mixed flowers.
- Added matching fallen and dry leaves for regular and flowering Crape Myrtle and Magnolia foliage: four new pairs, bringing the total to thirty-three leaf-litter types.
**Natural Grass Recovery**
- Nutrient-rich dirt gradually returns to an ordinary Grass Block if it is left untilled. Nearby grass is not required.
- Recovery pauses while fallen or dry leaves cover the soil. Dry leaves finish enriching the soil and decomposing before grass recovery begins.
- Insufficient light, water or an opaque covering also pause recovery. Progress is saved, and waiting times depend on random ticks and chunk loading.
- Tilling the soil before recovery still produces nutrient-rich farmland. Its faster crop growth, water-free hydration and harvest-based nutrient consumption remain unchanged; nutrient-rich farmland does not revert to grass through this process.
**Visual Improvements and Fixes**
- Reworked 107 native 16×16 textures for the new plants, including saplings, foliage, flowers, harvested items, vase flowers and attached or hanging vines.
- Updated placed, potted and inventory appearances together, with smaller color clusters and more detailed highlights and shadows.
- Matched Hydrangea and Gardenia models and collision to the existing shrub shape.
- Fixed missing harvested-flower item models and missing-texture displays.
- Fixed opaque green panels and oversized crossing leaf planes around trellis beams.
- Added the missing horizontal vine connections beneath roof lattices while keeping lower hanging shoots free of floating horizontal sheets.
- Improved older climber attachment transitions while preserving saved growth progress and flowering state.
- Extended the accompanying Euphoria shader material-mapping patch.
**Validation and Updating**
Passed 84 behavior tests and 16,690 blockstate/item model checks, with packaged-mod and save/reload checks in an isolated client containing 23 related mods. This does not certify every modpack or remote server.
Existing worlds can be used. Close the game and server before replacing the mod, update both client and server, and keep only one Fudu Flora JAR installed on each side.
