Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
Frontier Cohorts is an unofficial recreation of Villager Recruits (by talhanation), rebuilt for Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge. It is not affiliated with the original author—just a fan-made adaptation for players who want that same spirit on modern NeoForge.
In vanilla, villagers mostly trade and tend their village. Here, they can become recruits you hire, equip, organize, and command. You get factions, diplomacy, and light territory tools aimed at survival worlds and multiplayer servers that like a bit of structure and story.
What you can do
Recruitment
Hire villagers with emeralds and systems tied to the Noble Villager. Infantry, shield-bearers, archers, crossbowmen, horsemen, and more. You’re no longer limited to iron golems or fighting everything alone—you can raise a force that feels like yours.
Orders & control
Follow, wait, patrol, attack, defend, mount up, and form lines, squares, circles, V-shapes, and more. Great for holding a base, escorting a trip, clearing dangerous areas, or organized PvP.
Groups
Split recruits into groups (cavalry, infantry, ranged, and so on), edit them, and assign roles. Large armies stay manageable without constant micromanagement.
Factions
Create or join factions, with a server-wide registry and leadership. Perfect for clans, rival villages, or long-running alliances on a shared world.
Diplomacy
Ally, neutral, or enemy relations between factions. It changes how players and recruits treat each other, and gives wars and treaties a clear place in the game.
Noble Villager
Trade, hire, and local leadership: the Noble can gather nearby villagers, help with defense, and act as the heart of your village force.
Inventory & gear
A proper recruit GUI for weapons, armor, and items. Recruits aren’t just AI in a skin—they wear what you give them and look the part.
Economy & morale
Upkeep, morale, and configurable costs so armies stay meaningful and servers stay balanced.
Territory
Faction claims and protection (where enabled in config). Useful for bases and borders. No built-in map system—use JourneyMap or any map mod you already like.
Why it feels different from vanilla
| Vanilla | With Frontier Cohorts |
|---|---|
| Passive villagers | Recruitable, commandable units |
| Defense is mostly you + golems | Patrols, defensive lines, and groups |
| No player factions tied to NPCs | Factions, diplomacy, and shared-side recruits |
| Solo combat focus | Armies that support exploration, raids, and PvP |
