Fresh Armor Bar

A clean and modern armor bar that improves Minecraft's vanilla HUD.

Enjoy affordable servers, 24/7 support, 100% uptime, and modpack-ready performance—perfect for playing with friends anywhere in the world.

Fresh Armor Bar upgrades Minecraft's vanilla armor HUD with a cleaner, more readable and more expressive design.

The default armor bar does its job, but it always looks almost the same, no matter what armor you are wearing. Fresh Armor Bar changes that by giving each armor type its own visual identity, making materials, enchanted gear and armor trims easier to recognize directly from the HUD.

The mod is designed to feel like a natural improvement to Minecraft rather than a completely different interface. It keeps the vanilla style, stays lightweight, and focuses only on visual clarity.

A quick look at how Fresh Armor Bar changes the vanilla armor HUD.

NEW ENCHANTED ARMOR:

Each material is rendered with its own visual identity, maintaining consistency and readability across all configurations.

Fresh Armor Bar improves the armor HUD while keeping it simple, lightweight and close to vanilla.

🛡️ Material-Based Armor Icons 🛡️
Custom texture-based HUD icons for vanilla armor, turtle shell and supported custom armor materials, with clean mixed-armor rendering.

🎨 Armor Trims & Dyed Leather 🎨
Displays armor trims, trim colors, subtle shiny trim glow and dyed leather colors directly in the armor bar.

Enchanted Armor Effect
Renders a dedicated enchantment glint effect on enchanted armor icons.

🪽 Elytra Support 🪽
Shows an Elytra indicator when equipped, including optional Elytra slot detection through supported Trinkets-family integrations.

📦 Resource Pack Friendly 📦
Allows resource packs to replace Fresh Armor Bar textures, including default armor icons, trim overlays and modded armor material textures.

Smart Cached Rendering
Uses visual tracking and an internal cache to update the HUD only when relevant armor data changes, reducing unnecessary rendering work.

High Armor Value Support
Supports armor values above the vanilla 20 armor points, with additional HUD rows up to 60 armor points.

🌐 Client-Side & Vanilla-Friendly 🌐
No server-side installation required, no gameplay changes, no extra mechanics and no changes to armor protection or durability.

Fresh Armor Bar is fully client-side and does not require server-side installation.

✅ means the optional API or slot mod has a Fabric release for that Minecraft version. ❌ means no matching Fabric release was found.

For API / Library columns, ✅ only means Fresh Armor Bar can read Elytra data from that API if another mod stores an Elytra there. The API alone does not add an Elytra slot.

Fresh Armor Bar always detects Elytra in the vanilla chest slot. If no compatible slot API is installed, the mod falls back to vanilla chest-slot detection.

Fresh Armor Bar is fully customizable through normal Minecraft resource packs.

You can replace the default HUD textures without editing the mod jar. This allows resource pack creators to redesign the armor icons, material strips, Elytra indicator and trim overlays while keeping the mod’s rendering system intact.

📁 DEFAULT FRESH ARMOR BAR TEXTURES

The built-in textures are loaded from:

assets/fresh-armor-bar/textures/gui/armorbar/

To override them, create the same path inside your resource pack and replace the PNG files you want to customize.

Main files:

empty.png
base.png
elytra.png
strips/turtle.png
strips/leather.png
strips/chainmail.png
strips/iron.png
strips/gold.png
strips/diamond.png
strips/netherite.png
overlays/trim/trim_base.png
overlays/trim/trim_glow_tex.png

Use the correct pack_format for your Minecraft version inside pack.mcmeta.

📐 TEXTURE SIZES

Fresh Armor Bar uses small HUD textures:

empty.png 9x9
elytra.png 9x9
base.png 27x9
material strips 27x9
trim overlays 27x9

Each 27x9 texture is divided into three 9x9 sections:

left half | right half | full icon
0..8 | 9..17 | 18..26

This allows the mod to render half armor icons, mixed armor states and full armor icons correctly.

🧩 MODDED ARMOR MATERIALS

Fresh Armor Bar can also load textures for armor materials added by other mods.

For a material without a namespace, use:

assets/fresh-armor-bar/textures/gui/armorbar/strips/<material>.png

For a namespaced material, use the material namespace.

Example material:

examplemod:ruby

Resource pack path:

assets/examplemod/textures/gui/armorbar/strips/ruby.png

If the texture exists, Fresh Armor Bar will use it automatically. If no matching texture is found, the material will fall back to base.png.
