This is the official Curse page for Fragile Glass and Thin Ice, by FredTargaryen.
Fragile Glass and Thin Ice provides:
- Fragile versions of glass blocks and panes, made by boiling sugar, which smash gratuitously if something hits them fast enough.
- Thin Ice, which can be configured to generate in patches on frozen bodies of water.
- Weak Stone(disabled by default), which generates on ceilings and may crumble under an unlucky miner's feet
- A config system to bestow fragility (or a different effect) on almost any blocks you choose, and define which entities can break fragile blocks.
It's great for adventure maps, videos, pranks, and as a quick, realistic glass substitute.
NB. Fragile Glass blocks are separate from vanilla Glass blocks and never replace them in the world.
However, when each world is created, if enabled, patches of Thin Ice/Weak Stone replace vanilla Ice and Stone in the same place.

You can get started with an example config file, created by incrediblestrandofhair. For 1.12.2, put this in your profile's config folder. For 1.14.4, put this in the serverconfig folder of any worlds where you want these settings, and this in the mod archive's data folder.
could you make a version where the fragile blocks are configurable in normal configs instead of world configs? its a pain for using in modpacks because you can't pre-set them and have to change them on a world by world basis, and i would prefer the possible breakage of maps over the utter annoyance of having to add a config for every. single. WORLD. especially in modpacks that I send to friends or if i decide to post them.
Can you add some sort of platform that breaks when you stand on it for too long?

Hi! I can't make precisely what you're asking about because I don't want to expand the scope of the mod beyond the speed-based collision system. However the default configs for the mod's Weak Stone block do something similar (starts breaking when you step on it, but you have a short window of time to get off it before it falls)
Can you make a compatibility with crafting dead mod? Their weapons don't interact with this mod :/

Hi! I still need to look into this, but just letting you know I saw it.
so i made a mod review for this mod if anyone wants to hear my two cents on this mod.
In reply to pravculear:
Thank you for the review! I've since added the missing set of recipes you mentioned.
could you add configs to allow skeletons to shoot you through glass and/or have fragile ice only break when sprinted or jumped on?

Hi again! If you make vanilla glass fragile using the config files I mentioned in my last reply to you, skeleton arrows will be able to break the glass (changing it so that skeletons will fire at you if you're blocked by glass is outside the scope of this mod). You can edit the minimum speed of Thin Ice to achieve what you said; changing it to around 0.2 should do the trick.
Do you have any thoughts of making this fabric? just asking cause I've been getting some good mods for fabric and this would be amazing for it.
In reply to TexascoolStreamer:
Hi! I would love to do this for all my mods but I really just don't have the time in my life :(
Is there a possibility to add a config that replaces the glass in the game with this? I've always wanted glass to break based on speed of a fall, flying into, or arrow hits, but it's incredibly hard to find such a mod/plugin that's being updated.
In reply to ravendwyre:
Hi! After running the game once, in your config folder, you should find a file called fragileglassft_blocks.cfg or something like that. If you open that up you can see how to make blocks fragile and change how they behave when things crash into them.
In reply to FredTargaryen:
I am using the latest version and for some unknown reason the config only shows the settings for fragile glass, thin ice and weak stone, but no config for custom shattering material.
In reply to nixity_null:
Hi! The config files for your world should be in saves\[Your world name]\serverconfig and be named fragileglassft_blocks.cfg, fragileglassft_entities.cfg and fragileglassft_tileentities.cfg. Each one should have a bunch of information on how to customise it. If you have those files but they don't explain how to add new configs, try deleting them and reloading the mod.
In reply to FredTargaryen:
why are they in world config rather than mod config?
In reply to FredTargaryen:
I didn't get a response last time so i'm going to clarify my question:
are the custom fragile block configs in the world config or the normal mod config and if they are in the world configs why? I just prefer to not have to go into world configs every time I want to set it to my preferred settings, especially considering how frequently I delete worlds when testing modpacks.
In reply to nixity_null:
Sorry I missed your message! The configs are in the serverconfig folder of each world. I think it's a safer if it's done this way - imagine making a bunch of common blocks breakable, then forgetting to remove your settings and opening up an adventure map in a different save...
At least for Fragile Glass, commands are available for changing those settings inside the game, then saving out the settings you want - hopefully that can make things a little less painful.
Just wondering if we can change the recipe ratio? Maybe 1 sugar block for 64 blocks is too efficient for some purposes
In reply to bluebird9281:
Hi! Maybe, though for a block that breaks easily and doesn't drop itself, it's probably quite fair. I'll look into making that configurable.
