When you die, a grave appears where you fell: your own player head, holding every item you carried and your experience. Walk back, right-click it with an empty hand (or break it, as the server prefers) and everything goes back into the slots it came from, armour worn again, XP restored; whatever does not fit drops at your feet. Nobody else can open, break, blow up or piston away your grave. Left-click any grave to see whose it is and when they died.
This is a continuation of Forgotten Graves by ginsm (MIT, about 2.7 million downloads, last released for 1.20.4), ported to Minecraft 26.3 with full credit; the original author is not involved. The big change: the original needed every player to install the mod for its custom grave blocks and renderer. This port is server-side only. The grave is a vanilla player head that decays into a skeleton skull and then a wither skeleton skull (configurable), grave contents live in a save file in the world folder instead of a block entity, protection is done at the block-change level, and the config is a documented properties file. Trinkets, Inventorio, Cloth Config, Mod Menu and the client renderer were dropped. The original licence and a notice listing every change are inside the jar.
- Graves sink through air and water (lava optional) and plants, never replace chests or bedrock, stay out of restricted dimensions and spawn protection; optional no-grave in PvP and respect for keepInventory
- Four decay stages with the original timings and chances; tools and armour lose durability as the grave ages; honeycomb waxes a grave, a shovel un-waxes or restores it, vines and mushrooms age it; optional grave robbing from a chosen stage
- Experience: store all, vanilla orbs' worth, or none; percentage and cap in levels or points
- Optional Death Compass pointing at your newest grave (no lodestone needed)
- /graves list, restore, delete, players and config reload for operators, with clickable teleport / restore / delete buttons; /graves spawntest for testing
- Settings in config/forgottengraves/forgottengraves.properties with the original option names; datapack tags forgottengraves:replaceable, sink_through, do_not_replace, decay_item, soulbound_enchants
Compatibility: Minecraft 26.3 with Fabric Loader 0.20.1 and Fabric API. Java 25. Server-side: runs on dedicated servers and on the integrated server in singleplayer; other players install nothing. Licence: MIT, continued from Forgotten Graves by ginsm with the original licence and a notice of every change included in the jar. Tested on a real 26.3 dedicated server (25 console checks).
