Description

Forgotten Flames

Forgotten Flames is a lightweight vanilla+ Minecraft mod that expands the way small light sources behave.

In vanilla Minecraft, candles and campfires can already be extinguished and relit, but torches and lanterns mostly stay permanently lit. Forgotten Flames extends that feeling to more classic light sources, allowing players to extinguish and relight torches and lanterns in a simple, immersive way.

Explore darker ruins, decorate abandoned builds, create atmosphere in caves, or bring old places back to life one flame at a time.

Features

- Extinguish torches with an empty hand

- Relight extinguished light sources with vanilla ignition items

- Supports regular torches and wall torches

- Supports soul torches and soul wall torches

- Supports lanterns and soul lanterns

- Supports redstone torches and redstone wall torches

- Extinguished redstone torches do not provide redstone power

- Water washes away open torches and drops their extinguished variants

- Lanterns are protected from water because they are closed light sources

- Extinguished variants are not directly craftable

- Vanilla-style visuals designed to fit naturally into Minecraft

Vanilla+ Design

Forgotten Flames is designed to feel like a small missing piece of Minecraft rather than a large content overhaul.

The mod does not replace vanilla candles or campfires because those blocks already have extinguishing and relighting behavior. Instead, it focuses on light sources that normally do not support this mechanic.

Gameplay Notes

Use an empty hand to extinguish supported light sources.

Use vanilla ignition items such as flint and steel or fire charges to relight them.

Open torches can be affected by water. Closed lanterns are not washed away by water, keeping their behavior more logical and vanilla-friendly.

Current Version

This is an early public release focused on the core extinguish and relight system.

The goal of this version is to keep the mod small, stable, and useful while preserving a vanilla Minecraft feeling.
