Bringing back the new-and-improved Mail system from Forestry: CE!
Use mail to send messages and items to other players, no matter how far away!
NOTE: This mod requires Forestry: CE to be installed in order to play.
Features
Letters and Stamps
Letters can contain messages and stacks of items. To send a Letter, write in the address, add the necessary Stamps as postage, and drop it into a Mailbox!
Stamps are needed to send Letters. The more items you send in a Letter, the more stamps it will cost to send that Letter. There are a variety of Letter tiers for different costs.
Mailbox
The Mailbox acts as your inbox, storing all the mail you've been sent. Right-click on any Mailbox with a signed Letter to send it to its address, be it a Player or a Trade Station!
Trade Station & Catalog
The Trade Station allows players to sell items via mail. Give it a name, set your sold item in the "Send" section, and name your price in the "Receive" section. Leave the Trading Station with a steady supply of Stamps and Paper, and you're good to go!
Players can trade goods by selecting the Trade Station in the UI. To view the list of available Trade Stations, use the Catalog book, which lists all active Trade Stations on the server.
Planned Features
Forestry's original mail system was underused by players. In the process of splitting off mail into its own addon, the Forestry: CE team has come up with several ideas to make the feature more useful and fun:
- Allow players to attach images and GIFs to letters, for a more fun way to communicate
- Allow players to send and receive mail at PO boxes, with inventories separate from their private inboxes, to allow using the Mail system as a form of autonomous item transport.
- Allow packmakers to define mailing costs of individual items via datapacks, to make certain items cost less/more stamps when sent in the mail.
