Description

Flashier Flashlights

Flashier Flashlights adds a flashlight with real shadowmapped shadows and full shader pack support (Oculus/Iris, Embeddium/Sodium).

Features:

This mod adds 2 items: the flashlight and the battery.

Insert a battery, right click to toggle. Batteries hold FE and drain while the light is on, both the capacity and drain is configurable.

The flashlight beam casts real shadows using shadowmapping. Shadow caster count, resolution, softness and pertype toggles for terrain, entities and players are all configurable. Experimental coloured shadows pick up tint from glass and water.

The flashlight also has additional effects like: 

  • Bloom on the lens and dust.
  • Beam dust particles.
  • Volumetric light shafts.

Beam colour, brightness, angle, range and light pattern are adjustable in the config, including custom pngs and video patterns through resource packs.

Optifine is not supported and will crash the game.

The config is tweakable ingame from the mods tab with quality presets from Potato to Extreme.

The mod is still under development, expect bugs.

Known issues:

  • The flashlight beam can look misaligned with the model in first-person with view bobbing and volumetrics enabled.
  • Coloured shadows are experimental and may have bugs.

  • OpenGL 4.3+
