What's new

Firstworks 0.0.15

  • Fix custom heated forging recipes with multiple ingredients: the anvil assembles separately heated items at the lower temperature without ignoring other components. Complete partly forged batches can return to the kiln as indivisible workpieces, with heating time proportional to material count; loose kiln input remains limited to one item.

Manual workstation rework

  • Stone Anvils now support ordered flatten, draw, and bend actions selected by the struck region. Copper forging requires heat; use the restored Kiln to heat the workpiece, then carry it to the anvil. The kiln only heats items and never advances actions or smelts them.
  • Workpieces carry heat and completed actions between stations and through saves. Heat fades in storage and inventory. Item overlays and anvil workpiece models glow with heat; the kiln and anvil emit fading block light.
  • Added solid deformable anvil workpieces, optional custom stage models, hovered-region outlines, and action hints. Recipes without visual metadata retain their item model; existing simple smashing recipes remain supported.
  • Stone Anvils have a small light Flatten pad, wider dark Draw strips around the top, and horn-only Bend. Hammer hits, outlines, and Jade's targeted action share bounded surfaces in every facing; side faces and lower ledges cannot select a forging action.
  • Looms load a stack in one action. Hold the visible shuttle and guide it across to place a loose row; packing commits each row. Partial crossings survive release/reload, clicks cannot bypass strokes, and optional client input assistance uses the same timing. Basic cloth remains four passes. JEI shows ingredients, output, and required shuttle crossings.
  • Mortars now distinguish center crushing from held rim grinding. Releasing use pauses grinding, and saved work resumes without autonomous completion. Built-in charcoal, bone, ochre, and grog recipes use explicit stages.
  • Workstation processing remains server-authoritative, with per-tick guards against duplicate progress and saved partial work across reloads.

Correctness and integrations

  • Crucible Furnace catalyst slots hold one item for player and automated insertion. Surplus catalysts from older saves are returned as dropped items. Jade no longer repeats input, catalyst, or fuel-reserve text above the inventory rows.

  • Jade omits duplicate stored-item names/counts on querns, looms, and brick molds, and duplicate stored-fluid rows on barrels. Anvil sequences belong to the named selected recipe; overlapping matches are explicitly labeled as automatic selection, and begun forging remains locked to its recipe.

  • Crucible glow, molten contents, and heat effects now require an active paid batch with airflow; retained progress alone no longer makes the furnace hot.

  • Barrel JEI displays now apply each recipe's configured input_count to every item/tag alternative instead of showing tag inputs as a single item.

  • Added 0.0.14 save migration for partial Stone Anvil and active Mortar work so upgrades preserve progress instead of misreading or discarding it.

  • Require Patchouli with a craftable Firstworks Field Guide covering all features, manual controls, heat, pausing, automation boundaries, recipes, and settings.

  • Updated in-world hints, Jade status, JEI recipes, and item tooltips for the changed stations, including custom recipe requirements and cancellation feedback.

  • Overlapping loom and mortar recipes select the largest affordable input count, then recipe id. Hints and rendering use that same selection; before enough input is loaded, hints show the smallest matching requirement. Mortars permit loading larger matching batches before work begins.

  • Preserved optional recipe metadata, network synchronization, and KubeJS lifecycle hooks. Unowned scripted mortar starts no longer trigger autonomous grinding.

  • Added regression coverage for action ordering, heat, facing, patterns, partial saves, manual pauses, custom recipes, overlapping recipes, script lifecycle events, duplicate work, JEI input stack counts, and legacy-NBT migration.

Packmakers

  • See docs/PACKMAKERS.md for anvil forge, loom weaving, and mortar processing metadata and fallback behavior.

  • Targets NeoForge 1.21.1. Brick-mold and pottery interaction redesigns are outside this release.

  • Holding the loom shuttle now captures Use input, including through frame gaps and brief packet delays, to avoid activating blocks behind it. Finished cloth is displayed and collected as a separate roll below the working fabric, so subsequent batches retain visible progress.

  • Expired workpiece heat is normalized during stack comparisons, allowing cooled items in storage and automated transfers to merge while preserving forging progress and keeping hot stacks distinct.

  • Kilns and Crucible Furnaces require explicit ignition with a Fire Starter, Flint and Steel, Fire Charge, or a compatible modded igniter. Fuel loading and Bellows air never light a cold station. Added #firstworks:workstation_igniters alongside NeoForge fire-starting ability support, ignition hints, and burnout/relighting coverage.

  • Correct loom shuttle/beater texture orientation to preserve pixel proportions. Item heat tooltips now show a single temperature/status/countdown line, with per-item server maximum temperatures and a client Celsius/Fahrenheit/Kelvin display setting.

  • Require Patchouli on client and server, declare its required release relation, and expand the Field Guide to eight categories covering all features and recipes. Add a custom transparent 64×64 book sprite.

  • Correct Jade loom direction arrows to match the player view from the working side.

  • Give Plaster Blocks a custom 16×16 lime-plaster texture instead of vanilla Calcite.

  • Show the Firstworks Field Guide in the Firstworks creative tab.

  • Explain fuel, ignition, workable heat, retrieval, and anvil transfer on the kiln JEI page, with an igniter slot and wrapped instructions.

  • Unify workstation and item heat around Celsius temperatures. Add recipe temperature requirements, temporary Bellows ceiling boosts with hunger cost, and current/maximum temperature in Jade.

  • Burn native furnace fuels continuously across completed recipes, automatically consuming the next fuel item at burnout. Limit kiln heating input to one item while keeping fuel stackable.

  • Move Copper Fasteners to heated Stone Anvil forging and update JEI, the Field Guide, and packmaker documentation.

  • Remove persistent center-screen hints for kiln, anvil, mortar, and loom; Jade retains workstation guidance. Keep spatial anvil outlines.

  • Fix heated inventory and hotbar icons by using a GUI-specific glow layer without the world rendering depth offset.

  • Simplify Crucible Furnace JEI: machine-only sidebar, no duplicate station slot, vanilla flame between fuel/input, reusable catalyst NC overlay with tooltip, and seconds instead of ticks.

  • Slow default thermal pacing: kiln heats over 30 seconds, copper forging stays workable about 100 seconds, and Bellows hold 30 seconds before a 15-second decay. Crucibles warm by 1°C/tick and cool by 0.25°C/tick while idle.

  • Add the missing Crucible Furnace igniter slot and label Fuel, Bellows, and Igniter requirements. Both heated-station JEI pages list all supported igniters, including tagged and modded fire-starting items.
