Description

Felix's More Curios Slots

Craftable crystals that permanently unlock extra Curios slots. Every slot type has its own crystal. Right-click one to get +1 slot of that type, forever. Each player can only use a limited number of crystals per slot type, and every limit is configurable, so you stay in control of balance.

Requires: Minecraft 1.20.1 · Forge 47+ · Curios API 5.2+

Want a slot from another mod? Crystals for slots added by other mods (such as Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks and Ars Nouveau) are included, and if a mod you play with isn't supported yet, just ask! Open a request on [GitHub] or leave a comment on this page and I'll be happy to add it.

Features

  • One crystal per slot type, each with its own crafting recipe. Right-click to permanently unlock +1 slot of that type.
  • Per-player limits. Each crystal can only be used a limited number of times per player. Set one global limit, or tune every slot individually.

Crystals

Default Curios slots: Curio, Charm, Head, Back, Necklace, Ring, Bracelet, Belt, Body, Hands, Feet.

The Spellbook, Ars Focus and Deep Learner recipes need items from their mods, so those crystals can only be crafted when the mod is installed. Look up any recipe in JEI, REI or EMI.

How it works

  1. Craft a crystal.
  2. Right-click it.
  3. You permanently gain +1 slot of that type, until you reach the limit for that crystal.

If a limit is lowered later, slots you already unlocked are not removed and your counter is not reset. New uses are simply blocked while your counter is at or above the limit.

Configuration

The config is a server config named felixmorecurios.toml. It lives in each world's serverconfig folder (saves/<world>/serverconfig/ in singleplayer, <world>/serverconfig/ on a server). To set defaults for new worlds or a modpack, copy it into the defaultconfigs folder. Every option is documented with comments inside the file.

[unlocking]

Option Default Description
require_existing_slot false true: the player can only use a crystal if they already have at least 1 slot of that type. false: the crystal also works with 0 slots of that type, as long as the slot is in the player's list. The mod adds the default Curios slots and the supported mod slots to the player at size 0.

[limits]

Option Default Description
mode BALANCED How each crystal's limit is decided when its value under per_slot is "auto". See the table below.
global 2 The global limit of crystal uses per player (range 0 to 70). Used by ALL_GLOBAL, by BALANCED_GLOBAL (for slots without author balancing) and by any slot set to "global". 0 disables the crystal.

mode values

Value Behavior
BALANCED Limits balanced by the author. Slots without balancing use the fixed default (2). The global value is ignored.
BALANCED_GLOBAL Limits balanced by the author. Slots without balancing use the global value.
ALL_GLOBAL Every crystal uses the global value, ignoring the author's balancing.
ALL_DEFAULT Every crystal uses 2, ignoring balancing and the global value.

[limits.per_slot]

One entry for each slot type (for example curio, charm, head, back, necklace, ring, bracelet, belt, body, hands, feet and every mod slot). Default for every entry: "auto".

Value Meaning
a number >= 0 That exact limit. It beats everything else. 0 disables the crystal for that slot.
"default" Fixed limit of 2, regardless of mode.
"global" Uses the global value above.
"auto" Follows mode.

[reset]

Option Default Description
behavior RESTORE_COUNTERS What happens to crystal counters when /curios reset <players> is run. KEEP_COUNTERS: extra slots are removed, but crystal uses stay recorded. RESTORE_COUNTERS: the crystal counters are zeroed too, so crystals can be used again.

[availability]

Option Default Description
availability mode MOD_REGISTERED When a crystal counts as available (usable, and shown in the creative tab and tooltip).

availability mode values

Value Behavior
MOD_REGISTERED Only checks the crystal's associated mod, when it has one.
SLOT_REGISTERED The slot type must exist in Curios.
SLOT_REGISTERED_AND_USED Also requires at least one item in the curios:<slot> tag. Items that use the slot only through a capability (no tag) are not detected in this mode.
