Changelog — FastFurnaces+ (Fabric)

All notable changes to FastFurnaces+ Fabric will be documented in this file.

The format is based on Keep a Changelog, and this project adheres to Semantic Versioning.

[1.0.0] - 2026-08-30

Initial Fabric release for Minecraft 1.20.1 / Fabric Loader 0.15.7 / Fabric API 0.92.11+1.20.1 / Java 17. Ported from the Forge version (C:\Users\Tom\Documents\FastFurnaces:1).

Added

  • Fabric Port — 15× Faster Furnaces (mixin/AbstractFurnaceMixin.java:15): Accelerates all furnace block entities (furnace, blast_furnace, smoker) by speedMultiplier (default 15, range 1-100). Injects at @At("TAIL") of AbstractFurnaceBlockEntity.serverTick and calls serverTick (speed-1) extra times per tick.
  • Balanced Fuel Consumption: Fuel burns at the same accelerated rate — 1 coal still smelts 8 items, but 15× faster. No free smelting, survival balance preserved. Achieved via extra serverTick calls that also decrement litTime.
  • Configurable Speed (Config.java:11): config/fastfurnaces.json via Gson and FabricLoader.getInstance().getConfigDir():
  {
    "speedMultiplier": 15,
    "_comment": "Speed multiplier 1-100. 1=vanilla, 15=15x faster. Fuel burns proportionally faster."
  }

Validated 1-100, requires restart after editing. Loaded in FastFurnacesFabric.java:11 onInitialize() via Config.load().

  • Mixin Refmap (fastfurnaces.mixins.json:1): package=com.fastfurnaces.mixin, compatibilityLevel=JAVA_17, mixins=[AbstractFurnaceMixin]. No refmap field (matching Fabric example modid.mixins.json:1), generated by Loom.
  • Metadata (fabric.mod.json:1): id=fastfurnaces, name=FastFurnaces+, version=1.0.0, group=com.fastfurnaces (gradle.properties:1), license=All Rights Reserved, authors=Mc Studio, environment=*, depends: fabricloader>=0.15.7, minecraft~1.20.1, java>=17.

Changed from Forge

  • Mod Loader: ForgeGradle 6.0 (net.minecraftforge.gradle:6.0) → Fabric Loom 1.6.12 (fabric-loom:1.6-SNAPSHOT, gradle 8.7). Loom 1.17 required Java 21, downgraded to 1.6 for Java 17 compatibility.
  • Event System: Forge TickEvent.LevelTickEvent + ChunkEvent tracking (FurnaceAccelerator.java:92) → Fabric pure Mixin (AbstractFurnaceMixin). No chunk scanning, lower overhead, works on dedicated server and integrated server.
  • Config System: Forge ForgeConfigSpec (Config.SPEC, speedMultiplier as IntValue in fastfurnaces-common.toml) → Fabric Gson JSON (fastfurnaces.json). Same default (15) and range (1-100).
  • Build: settings.gradle:1 rootProject.name=modid kept, Loom mods { fastfurnaces { sourceSet main, client } } (build.gradle:17). fabric_api_version=0.92.11+1.20.1 unchanged.

Fixed

  • Fabric Loader Version: 0.19.3 (non-existent) → 0.15.7 (valid for 1.20.1).
  • Gradle Wrapper: 9.5.1 (requires Java 21 for Loom 1.17) → 8.7 for Loom 1.6 + Java 17.
  • Mixin Refmap: Removed refmap field from fastfurnaces.mixins.json to match Fabric Example Mod 1.20.1 and fix This version of loom does not support the mixin remap type value.

Technical

  • JAR: fastfurnaces-fabric-1.0.0.jar (9.5 KB, modid-1.0.0.jar before copy) — C:\Users\Tom\Desktop\fastfurnaces-fabric-1.0.0.jar:1 — contains FastFurnacesFabric.class, Config.class, AbstractFurnaceMixin.class, fabric.mod.json, fastfurnaces.mixins.json, assets/fastfurnaces/icon.png.
  • Requirements: Fabric Loader >=0.15.7, Fabric API * (tested 0.92.11+1.20.1), minecraft ~1.20.1, java >=17.
  • Source Sets: loom { splitEnvironmentSourceSets() } — src/main (common) + src/client (empty, reserved).

[Unreleased]

  • Planned: ModMenu integration for in-game config screen (Cloth Config), CurseForge/Modrinth dual upload (separate forge/fabric files).
