What's new
FARO 0.0.2 — out of Alpha
The first release was a diagnostics screen. This one is a toolbox.
New
The whole mod is now in English. The interface follows your game's language automatically and switches the moment you change it in Options — no restart, no setup. Every screen, including the ones that build sentences out of live data.
Tools tab — sixteen investigation tools. They live apart from the everyday screens on purpose: those answer questions you ask yourself, these are investigations you start deliberately. All of them start switched off and tell you when they are measuring.
- Compatibility predictor — evaluates a mod before you install it
- Automatic bisection — finds the guilty mod in ~8 restarts instead of 190
- Freeze detector — diagnoses hangs, which leave no crash report
- Log summarizer — 40,000 lines down to the groups that matter
- Mixin viewer, benchmark, graphics preset, chunk profiler
- Mod load times, worldgen cost, network traffic, OpenGL errors
- Config scan, duplicate recipes, config sync, Crash Assistant bridge
FARO-Vision (F8). Look at any block, creature or item on the ground and it tells you which mod it comes from — and whether that mod has problems, is a crash suspect, or is flooding your log. The panel can go in any of nine screen positions.
Conflict detection. Mods that declare each other incompatible, and known pairs that overlap in practice, now show up in the Problems tab with a suggested action.
Per-mod update button in the Mods tab, and a warning about which other mods an update would break before you download anything.
Sound alerts and entity smoothing on high ping (optional, off by default — it does not lower your ping and the setting explains the trade-off).
Improved
- Settings screen rebuilt. Grouped and scrollable: on smaller windows the last options used to fall off the screen.
- CPU usage now shows how many cores it adds up to. The raw percentage is measured against your whole processor, so a Minecraft saturating one core out of eight reads as 12% — which looks broken until you see the cores next to it.
- Plain-language explanations on hover for every technical term.
- New pixel-art scenes for conflicts and crashes.
Fixed
- Tool screens drew their buttons on top of the Back button.
- Faro-Vision's panel drew its text outside its own border, and cut off any reasonably long block name.
- Faro-Vision never detected items lying on the ground.
- Settings labels and several tool screens stayed in Spanish with the game in English.
- CPU readings could report "no data" forever on some Java versions.
- The two ships in the Problems tab stopped short of each other and then broke apart with nothing in between.
Notes
- Minecraft 1.20.1 · Forge 47+ · client-side only.
- Mod downloads still go through Modrinth only. CurseForge integration is on the way.
- Nothing is ever deleted: disabled mods are moved to
mods/faro_backup/and written down infaro/acciones.log.
