Farmer's Respite (Unofficial Port) - 3.0.0

  • Ported Farmer's Respite to 1.21.1 NeoForge mod loader; please make a backup if upgrading from a previous 1.20.1 world or adding to an existing 1.21.1 world.
  • Overhauled many features, fixed many outstanding bugs with kettles and crops
  • Rewrote kettle fluid renderer
  • Introduced new system for kettle auto-detecting pouring recipes for items
  • Fixed world generation, especially with other mods like Supplementaries installed
    • If you wish to configure world generation with this mod, you must now use a data pack rather than a configuration setting.
    • This mod adds generation of crops to basalt deltas, swamps, and jungles. These will only appear in newly-generated chunks if added to an existing world. If you wish to add the mod without the features, update the placed_feature set to an empty array [] for each patch in the .jar.

Notable features missing from this version:

  • Advancements (coming soon, old + some new ones)
  • Vanilla recipe book for the kettle (for now, use JEI or JEI + EMI)
  • Dispenser behavior for the kettle
  • Villager behavior
  • Sculk vibration support
  • Bee pollination support
  • Deploying/sequenced assembly recipes for Create (recipes for mixing/filling/draining tea fluids and items partially added, but subject to change)
  • Compat with the Create mod's harvester; for now, use shears on tea bushes, or your hands or shears on coffee bushes; this is a priority for the near future
  • More mod compat, especially with other food or Delight addons (coming soon)

Changes, additions, and features of this version:

  • Kettle
    • Kettle plays a new boil sound when processing a recipe; boiling sound fades out when the kettle is no longer processing after a short delay, or if a recipe loses ingredients/fluid/heat while processing. The sound does not currently fade-in when starting (coming soon). The sound cannot currently be muted, only the whistle at the end of a recipe can (coming soon)
    • In-world and GUI sounds have been added; the kettle now features more sounds when pouring liquids in or taking liquids out, both in-world and in the GUI. Lava buckets also have their own sound
    • The kettle will now begin automatically brewing when all conditions for brewing have been met, and not just when an item is inserted. Should greatly improve automation.
    • A new button has been added to the kettle's GUI to drain any remaining liquid stored in it (configurable, default enabled). Useful when automating the kettle and you have a tiny amount of fluid left you need to get rid of and don't want to build a massive pipe system for. May look into adding delays so players can't abuse it to void liquids.
    • Kettles now recognize heat sources below them from more mods, such as Create's blaze burners, Brewin' and Chewin' heating casks, and more. The kettle model's tray state will automatically update when placed on or above these blocks. With blaze burners specifically, their detection as well as heat based on fuel level has been made fully configurable, with the default settings allowing them to heat kettles as long as they are heated or superheated. In the future, a new setting will allow these to speed up the brewing process.
    • Rewrote JEI integration and the kettle fluid renderer, as well as added a new system for the kettle to auto-detect items and their empty containers for fluid handling. Brewing and pouring recipes still exist and are recommended, but the kettle will now try to find and set up its own pouring recipes for fluid-related items missing them; more items from many mods can be poured into and removed from the kettle as a result.
    • Breaking the kettle should no longer randomly crash the game or server, whether or not it contains fluids or items or XP. Fluid is still maintained in the item storage, and XP and items are dropped in-world
    • The color of the fluid contained in the kettle when dropped as an item will now display on the kettle's durability bar, rather than a default blue for every fluid
    • The kettle's logic has been implemented with Create: Aeronautics/Sable compat in mind; seems to work flawlessly on moving physics entities with brewing, heat sources, and playing its sounds/looping sounds as it moves. Automation via pipes on moving entities also currently works. Fluids and items can be inserted and extracted from various sides, with specific sides meant for specific item slots. Heat can still only be supplied from the bottom.
  • Crops
    • Tea generation has been modified to be more common and spawn in mixed patches of both wild tea bushes and actual tea bush crops. If you have trouble finding them, they will grow and oxidize over time, and may become more visible when revisiting areas you previously missed them in.
    • Tea crop patches now appear in all biomes tagged as either jungles or swamps; they're best found still in standard spawns and sparse jungles, but can appear in any similar biome.
    • The tinting of the stem of all tea-related plants has been slightly adjusted to not be grayscale, and the tops of wild tea bushes now tint slightly more based on the biome color, hopefully improving visibility.
    • Wild tea bushes have been made bonemealable (configurable, default true); bone-mealing one on the ground behaves like bonemealing a two-block-tall vanilla flower, dropping a copy of the bush. This makes tea bush seeds more renewable in the early game. Wild coffee bushes are not renewable as they naturally can grow when coffee crops grow.
    • Like their tea bush counterparts, small tea bushes can now also be "stunted" with an axe; right-clicking them prevents them from growing up, making them safe for decoration. They can still of course be planted in flower pots using tea seeds.
    • Wild coffee bush patches now spawn in patches of wild coffee bush and coffee bush plants, similar to tea, but still only in the basalt deltas biome. Their rarity has been just slightly decreased, and built-in compat has been included when playing with Supplementaries (the mod naturally decreases the amount of ash spawned in that biome). If the user disables ash spawning entirely in the Supplementaries config, coffee will still spawn normally with no ill-effects.
    • Coffee bushes now grow more smoothly, with no particles or block-breaking sounds playing when they advance a growth stage.
    • More information on where to find and how to grow crops has been added to JEI for tea leaves, tea seeds, coffee beans, and their wild counterparts.
    • Coffee crops now can be placed on and grown on magma blocks and blackstone, in addition to basalt blocks.
    • Coffee crops requiring other crops nearby in the Overworld (crop parasitization), while fully implemented, has now also been made configurable. If this is a feature you don't enjoy, you can disable this and coffee will grow on its own on the defined nether blocks in the Overworld, without other crops nearby to leech off of. However, I still recommend keeping it on!
    • Overhauled wither roots, the byproducts that spawn when coffee crops parasitize other crops in the Overworld. Wither roots have a chance of dropping when harvested or broken, and can be safely done so and guaranteed when using shears, as well as re-planted for decoration. The intention for this is to add an extra step to automating the harvest of coffee in the near future.
    • Clouds of harmful withering have been adjusted with wild coffee plants and crops, and will continue to be adjusted over time. The plan is to make it all fully configurable; currently, a config option has been added to prevent requiring shears to safely pick coffee berries, as picking them with the default settings spawn wither clouds. Roots and wild plants still spawn the clouds unless using shears no matter what.
    • When coffee bushes (from coffee beans) or wild coffee bushes are planted in a flower pot, the dirt texture now changes to basalt.
    • Crop growth progress is displayed in the overlay when Jade is installed; proper support with a Jade plugin is planned to display the exact stage/state of each crop.
  • Tea and Foods
    • All tea variants have been renamed and updated as "with Milk" or "with Sugar" instead of "Long" or "Strong", as this made more sense. Tea variants still behave like adding glowstone/redstone to potions, by increasing their effects' potency or duration.
    • All tea items no longer play an eat sound when consuming them, only a drinking sound.
    • All tea fluids have received an accompanying bucket with a unique texture per fluid type; proper particles, sounds, and texture overhauls are still in the works, but this is meant for better handling of fluids in automation and spills. Plus, who doesn't want to swim in tea? In the future, this will be made configurable.
    • All teas' effect times have been updated, including the switch from Comfort to Nourishment to accomodate Farmer's Delight removing Comfort in v1.3+.
    • Gambler's tea's effects have been updated to be more practical
    • The recipe for black cod has been changed to a Farmer's Delight cooking recipe, now also requiring raw rice instead of cooked rice.
    • All recipes now use tags for item requirements for greater compatability.
    • Rose hip tea, pie, and its slices now provide minor instant health instead of regeneration
    • All teas and items have built-in support for Thirst Was Taken, displaying hydration and quenchness values when installed
    • All teas support automation and fluid handling with other modded block entities, filtering such as in the Create mod, and automatic recipes for filling/emptying (such as the Create spout and item drain). Use JEI to view recipes.
  • Effects
    • Caffeinated has been a bit fixed up; while the effect is active, your sleep timer will consistently be zero, preventing phantom spawns. However, you will be too hyper to sleep until the effect ends or is removed, such as by drinking milk or hot cocoa. The effect still speeds you and your attack speed up, and is granted by coffee, coffee cake, and black tea. Gaining Caffeinated removes the Sleepy effect as well as any mining fatigue or slowness the player may have.
    • Sleepy, a new neutral effect, has been added, although it is currently unobtainable without commands. The opposite of Caffeinated, this effect slows you and your attack and mining speed down, but lets you sleep at any time to the next day, even when monsters are near your bed. Gaining Sleepy removes the effects of Caffeinated as well as any speed or haste effects the player may have. It also is removed upon a successful full night's sleep, or when consuming an item that removes effects like milk or hot cocoa. Upon waking up from a full night's sleep with the effect active, the player also receives a short regeneration effect (configurable, default true). This effect is planned to be added to existing and new items in the future.
