Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
A big update for Minecraft 1.21.1 on Fabric, NeoForge and Forge: a gear menu for every bird, releasing birds, full crops, perch stations, and birds that fly round trees and walls.
- New: sneak and use one of your birds to open its gear menu, as with a horse. Put its hood and jesses on or take them off, tell it to stay or follow, or release it. Press G for the bird on your glove.
- New: release a bird back to the wild from its gear menu (click Release twice). Its hood and jesses come back to you, and it leaves your roster.
- New: birds get full. Three feeds fill a bird, and it turns food down until some has gone down (one feed's worth every two minutes). A full bird shows its crop, a small bulge at the base of the throat. Owls have no crop, as in life.
- New: jesses show on a bird's legs, an anklet with a strap trailing behind.
- Changed: perches, branches, snags, stumps and boulders you place are for your birds only; wild birds never use them. A perch you set a bird on is its station, and other birds leave it alone, even while that bird is out with you. Your birds still drop onto a free perch now and then.
- Fixed: flying birds go over or around trees, walls and cliffs instead of getting stuck against them.
- Changed: Sentinel warns you of each new monster at once (it used to go quiet for 30 seconds after a warning). It works from a Manned bird that is awake and unhooded, on your glove or within 24 blocks of you.
- Changed: the harpy eagle is now the size of the bearded vulture, with the golden and bald eagles just under them and the Eurasian eagle-owl a little smaller. This makes them feel more realistically sized next to the player and on the glove.
- Changed: mice, rats, crickets, beetles, earthworms and caterpillars are easier to catch: their hit boxes are bigger.
- Changed: earthworms and caterpillars climb slowly up the side of a block instead of hopping onto it.
- Changed: sloths move at the same slow pace on the ground as in the trees, and hang with their head the same way up as their body.
- Changed: crickets chirp now and then (more at night) and squeak when hurt.
- Changed: shorter messages, and none when a bird lands on your glove or a perch. The osprey's call is quieter.
- Fixed: a parent landing on its nest pushed its chicks out.
- Note: sneaking and using your bird used to take its hood off or switch it between staying and following. Both are in its gear menu now.
