FakePing — Lightweight Server-Side Player Count & Tab Simulation

A lightweight, server-side Forge 1.20.1 mod that simulates server population, tab lists, and chat activity without entities or performance impact.

FakePing is an ultra-lightweight, server-only Forge mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 that provides configurable visual player-count and Tab-list simulation without creating fake entities, connections, or ServerPlayer instances. It modifies only client-facing presentations while leaving the server's real capacity, world, and gameplay untouched.

✨ Features & Core Systems

  • Server-List Simulation: Adjust displayed player counts using FIXED, RANDOM, or SYNC_TAB modes while keeping the real server.properties limit strictly protected.
  • Lightweight Tab List: Display custom visual player names in the multiplayer Tab list without consuming AI, pathfinding, chunk, or entity processing resources.
  • Disconnection & Reconnection Simulation: Simulate realistic absences with probabilistic/scheduled disconnects, session staggering, offline duration bounds, and automatic reconnections.
  • Mass Administrative Controls: Easily purge, disconnect, or reconnect multiple simulated fake players simultaneously using batch administrative commands.
  • Autocompletion Integration Hook: Exposes active virtual tab entries to allow external mods (such as global announcement systems) to seamlessly query and autocomplete fake player names.
  • Chat & Alerts: Optional server-style yellow join/leave connection messages and independent fake chat options.
  • High Performance: Uses lightweight in-memory states and executes checks only when needed, ensuring an ultra-low performance footprint for resource-constrained servers.

⚙️ Configuration Parameters & Structure

  • enabled: Globally turns the simulation system on or off.
  • Directory Reorganization: Configuration and state files are cleanly stored inside a dedicated folder (config/fakeping/), featuring automatic migration from legacy root paths (fakeping.json and fakeping-state.json).
  • ping.mode & Amounts: Configures server-list calculations (FIXED, RANDOM, SYNC_TAB) with custom parameters.
  • fakePlayersConsumeSlots: A boolean parameter that toggles whether fake players reserve real server slots (true) or expand the dynamic capacity limit (false, default).
  • tabList.names: Defines the master list of visual fake player entries (FakePingConfig.Config.tabList.names).
  • disconnectedSimulation: Controls max session durations, disconnect intervals, offline duration bounds, and simultaneous limits.
  • showConnectionMessages: Toggles yellow join/leave chat alerts.
