EXP Mod brings a food-rotation system to Minecraft. Every edible item (from fresh raw meat to long-lasting dried kelp) is assigned a shelf life ranging from 5 to 180 in-game days, tracked per stack and dated by the world's monotonic game time. Foods receive their expiration date when picked up, crafted, smelted, or found in your inventory, and smelting resets cooked food to a fresh state.
Expired food becomes genuinely dangerous: eating it carries a 50% chance of instant death by food poisoning, while feeding it to a breedable animal deals 1–10 random HP damage and can kill it. The mod also tracks streaks—survive eating three expired foods to earn an achievement, or claim the achievement for feeding expired food to a lethal animal. Tooltips display the exact remaining days and seconds, and a built-in recipe lets you recycle non-smeltable spoiled food into coal, keeping your gameplay loop engaging and rewarding.
