What's new

v0.0.0-beta.8 - Structures that find their biome

Added

  • New placement expedition_core:biome_anchored. Vanilla spreads structures by picking one random chunk per large cell without looking at the biome, so a structure that only belongs to a rare biome almost never appears: the random chunk lands outside the small patch. biome_anchored picks the chunk inside the cell among chunks whose biome is valid for the structure, so any cell that contains the biome gets its structure. It supports the usual random-spread fields plus biome_margin_chunks (keeps structures off the very edge of a patch).
  • The vanilla exclusion_zone is applied while choosing, so a second structure that must stay away from a first one is moved to another valid chunk instead of being dropped, which matters in small biome patches.
  • Still locatable with /locate structure (it extends the vanilla random-spread placement).

Notes

  • On a real dedicated server, over 43 patches of a biome that covers 0.36% of the Overworld, the first structure appears near 30 patches and the second near 30 (25 with both), against 0 and 1 with isolated_spread. The remaining patches are too small to host any structure.
  • Existing placements (isolated_spread, wide_biome_jigsaw) are unchanged. Library: update it only if a mod you use asks for beta.8.
