• Composting items fill a 0–100% heap. Full heap composts for 100 s, leaves dirt, right-click to eject.
• Fluids 1000 mB of water or lava via buckets, rain collection under open sky.
• Wood vs stone  wooden barrels leak 1 mB/2 s, burn away into fire 20 s after being filled with lava, and grow moss on nearby cobblestone/stone bricks (100 mB each, skipping blocks in the rain). Stone barrels do none of these.
• Obsidian  water source above a lava-filled barrel.
• Mixing  lava+redstone→netherrack, lava+glowstone→end stone, water+milk bucket→slime ball
• Mycelium/podzol composted dirt left adjacent converts after 100 s.
• Hoppers  the block entity is a one-slot SidedInventory: hoppers feed compost in from any side, pull the product out from below. Comparators read fill level.
