Evolution: Core Ecosystem (Infection Mod)

A meteor brings a living alien plant to your world. It roots, hatches its heart, grows its own creatures and trees of the dead, and spreads its miasma toward you. Cut it down before it grows too big to stop. [Heavy AI Assisted Development]

What's new

Added:
  - The Core Harvester (iron blocks, flint, sticks, infested blocks): a tool with 8 slots that keep what it harvests fresh and a food slot that feeds it; it digs the colony's blocks at a stone pickaxe's speed (any other block as your hand) and mends with flint in an anvil. The Flint Toolhead (flint in eight iron nuggets) repairs it and gives it a diamond pickaxe's durability and digging for good.
  - Blood Resin and Strangle Vines: an Ascended Tree felled with a fed Harvester's last hit may drop them fresh straight into it; felled any other way they fall and turn into Dried Resin and Dead Vines in a second. A fresh one lasts 10 seconds in your inventory and one second anywhere unfed.
  - The BioMechanical Crafter (logs, infested blocks, a Core Shell): a 3x3 grid, a food slot and a slot for your Harvester, whose fresh resin and vines it crafts with straight from its slots. It must be fed to craft, and its food burns only while it works.
  - The Altered Bio-Sword (three Strangle Vines over Blood Resin, a sword, Blood Resin): it hits for 1 more than its sword, 0.1 more a kill up to 4 more, and every kill gives 4 durability back. Each kill may rise again for the nearest Core: a mob as a thrall, a player as an infected player (5% at first, 1% more a kill, reset to 5 or 10% when one is made).
  - The Altered Armor (three Strangle Vines, Blood Resin, an armor piece, Blood Resin, three Strangle Vines; grown in the Crafter over 2 minutes): every kill heals a tenth of it. A kill made while all of it is at full durability rolls 1 in 10, rising each time, to start strangling: it will not come off, and in 30 seconds you die into a tree. Fire on yourself, three hits from anyone's sword or axe, or a piece breaking frees you and resets the count. A full set left on the ground within 8 blocks of each other becomes a tree when it would despawn.
  - The Incubation Chest (a chest and a furnace in infested blocks): a chest's 27 slots and a food slot; fed, it keeps fresh resin and vines fresh; run out, they die inside.
  - Sun Collectors can be mined (a stone axe for the Small and Medium, an iron axe for the rest) and placed: one of yours feeds no Core, never grows or starves, and links by a visible tendril to every Crafter and Incubation Chest within 8 blocks, where food lasts four times as long and armor grows in half the time.
  - The Core Shell drops itself when mined with the phase's pickaxe: wooden in Phases 2 and 3, stone in 4, iron from 5.
  - The Subterranean Sonic Emitter (cobblestone, redstone dust, a plank, note blocks): it thumps every 2 seconds and every worm within 16 blocks turns away. Placed on the colony's ground, a Gardener comes to break it and the colony holds its placer as an attacker.
  - Every infested block drops itself when mined.
  - Hostiles are food: the units hunt hostile mobs for the Core in every phase where they feed it, zombified piglins included. From Phase 7, any mob brought to the Core is a thrall 15 times in 100 and eaten otherwise.
  - Worms: one more worm each phase from Phase 4, 8 at most; now and then a worm dives up to 10 blocks down; once its normal routes are done it eats the enclosed pockets of plain ground left inside the land.
Removed:
  - The old 3-block gap between Sun Collectors (the placing rule below replaces it).
  - The Cave Guardian's digging through blocks to reach something.
Tweaked:
  - The Guardians' armor: Hunting 5, Cave 15, Tree 25, the Heart Guardian 30.
  - A pickaxe is the Core Shell's tool at every step; the early shell keeps dirt's hardness, so a wooden pickaxe opens it as fast as dirt.
  - The Gas Mask's filter lasts 14 in-game days, 28 with Spore installed.
  - Wrapping Vines and SubCore Vines take double damage from fire; every vine keeps 16 blocks from the next; the busiest square of the land goes to one vine and the next busiest to the next.
  - A new Sun Collector is placed outside every existing collector's circle: 13 blocks from a Small, 15 from a Medium, 18 from a Large, 20 from an Extra Large, 23 from a Largest.
  - The Cave Guardian digs only to make its lair and its pit; to an alarm or a target it goes through the tunnels it already dug.
  - The units' pathing: the route-search line serves waiting units on a time budget with no wasted turn, the planner takes the next waiting unit at once after a cheap plan, a unit told "no route" tries another spot instead of standing, the back-off counts per place, blackstone and basalt count as something to build with, a unit ties a subdued mob by hand within 3 blocks, and the grove harvest takes the top log first with a Gardener building its own way up to a hanging log.
  - The Sun Collectors' cords and toes root inside the crown and the knuckles hang closed under the blades; the Large, Extra Large and Largest blades are a tenth wider. The Core Heart's roots clear the shell and rest on the ground from a knot in the trunk.
  - An arrow made from nothing (another mod's archers) is given a plain arrow so the game can save it.
