EvoCraft Update — Eagle Overhaul & Bug Fixes
🦅 The Eagle, Properly
How to tame one:
Find a wild eagle (high ground, mountains, meadows, open forests) and feed it raw rabbit or raw chicken. It's a chance per offering, so it may take a few tries — keep feeding and it'll tame eventually.
What it does:
Perches on your shoulder — right-click empty-handed to have it land on you, parrot-style. Sneak-click to send it back down.
Sit/stand — plain right-click tells it to sit or get moving. It'll actually land and settle now instead of ignoring the order mid-flight.
Scout command — press G while looking at a location and it flies out to check the area, then reports back: how many hostiles it spotted, anything dangerous or mutated, and whether there's strange genetic activity (an Evo Zone) nearby. Great for scouting before you commit to exploring somewhere.
Item retrieval — hand it a named item (rename something in an anvil first) and it becomes a retriever: it'll go pick up dropped items in the area and bring them back to you.
Hunts small threats — spiders, cave spiders, silverfish, skeletons, strays. It won't pick fights it can't win (see below).
Breeds on raw rabbit/chicken, and lays an egg instead of producing a live chick — incubate it to hatch the next generation, and if either parent is mutated, expect a matching mutated egg (a pair of Storm eagles lays a Storm Eagle Egg, etc.).
8 mutation lines, including the legendary Thunderbird and the mythic Royal Plumage — each with its own egg variant.
Combat rework: eagles now fight smart. Below about half health, they disengage — climbing away and putting distance between themselves and whatever's attacking, rather than dying for you. They also won't wade into a fight in the first place if they're already hurt.
🔧 Bug Fixes
Eagle model looked broken while perched/sitting — wings were folding the wrong way, sticking straight up like antennae instead of tucking against the body. Completely reworked how the wings fold; they now rest naturally along the flanks.
Eagles would land once and basically never fly again — a bug in the landing logic caused them to re-trigger their "rest" state forever the moment they touched ground. Fixed — they now fly for a good stretch, land briefly, and take off again, like an actual bird instead of a lawn ornament.
No walking animation — eagles now have a proper ground gait (with a head bob) instead of standing frozen or holding a flight pose while grounded.
Eagles were too large — scaled down to a more proportional size relative to the player and their hitbox.
Eagles could fly straight through water — they now avoid it, and if they do end up submerged (knocked in, spawned near water, etc.) they surface immediately instead of "flying" along the lakebed.
Eagle breeding required both parents tamed — relaxed so any pair in love can breed, not just two independently-tamed birds.
Eagle spawn egg missing from creative mode — was registered but never actually added to the creative tab. Fixed, along with several other items that had the same problem (Evo Zone Generator, Zone Cores, Ancient Evo Core, Research Notes, Mutagenic Crystal, and its ore).
Game crashed on launch — an initialization-order bug meant Zone Cores tried to bind to Evo Zone types before those types existed yet. Fixed the startup sequence.
Penguins didn't lay eggs when breeding — bred straight into a live chick instead, skipping the whole egg/Incubator loop the species was designed around. Fixed, and extended the same fix to chickens: breeding now produces an egg carrying the offspring's actual genetics, so a mutated parent reliably produces a matching mutated egg (with a small 10–15% chance of a surprise mutation even from two unmutated parents).
Custom animals (Rockling, Penguin, Eagle) were too rare in survival — roughly doubled their spawn rates and widened the biomes they can appear in, so you should actually run into them while exploring now instead of needing to search for ages
